Award-winning, romantic 5 star Retreat in superb location.Tennis court, Fishing

Updated: 22-Oct-2016
5 star luxury 2 bedroom private Retreat with spectacular views - Tennis,Fishing

This award-winning VisitScotland 5 star holiday Retreat is reached by private access and is surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Trinity Gask Estate with its private woodlands, ponds and fishing beats on the River Earn. With stunning open views south over the Strathearn Valley, this cottage has been lovingly restored and successfully marries the charm of a traditional stone house with the best progressive eco-build practices. Relax and enjoy the benefits of sleeping in a breathable, allergy free house with solid oak wooden floors and underfloor heating.

Guests at the Retreat are able to enjoy the use of a new astro tennis court which is located close to the cottage and also benefit from free access to three beats on the River Earn (a short distance from the cottage door).

The interior of this special cottage is simple, fresh and contemporary. There is a large, high-ceilinged, open-plan kitchen/living area with a stylish contemporary kitchen complete with a dining table for 8. In the living area, large comfortable leather sofas are perfect for stretching out on in front of the open fire.

There are two spacious bedrooms: the double has two windows with views west (perfect for evening sun) towards woodlands and Ben Vorlich. The super king bed is extremely comfortable and is made up with crisp Egyptian cotton linen. Both bedrooms have more than ample hanging and shelf space and come with hair-dryers. The twin room is high-ceilinged and extremely bright, 2 east and 1 south, windows provide uninterrupted views across the valley. The bathroom has a big doubled ended bath, separate walk in shower and is stocked with organic shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion.

Adjacent to the back door is a separate outhouse/utility room, which is the perfect washing and drying room. There is a large stainless steel sink, washing machine, plenty of cupboard and hanging space, an overhead pulley and underfloor heating. Spacious, airy and warm, it is the ideal place for pets to sleep when they are not in the garden. Please note that, due to our allergy free status, pets are not allowed in the house at any time.

Guests at the Retreat can enjoy playing tennis on a new astro/artificial grass tennis court. The court is a short distance from the cottage and has the same stunning views across the Strathearn Valley. See photo gallery for a photograph of the beautiful court.

For your entertainment there is a 37' HD flat screen TV, DVD, Ipod docking station and CD/radio player and a karaoke machine! There is a good selection of games and an abundance of touring, walking and cycling maps as well as interesting books on Scottish wildlife, history and culture.

The Retreat is the perfect location for a holiday cottage in Perthshire, quiet and secluded with amazing views over the Strathearn valley, yet only 10 mins from Auchterarder and the Gleneagles Hotel Resort and golf courses. Glenturret whisky distillery, Drummond Castle Gardens and Crieff are 15mins from the cottage. The city of Perth, Scone Palace, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument are all easily accessible in under 30mins as is Loch Tay and the Scottish Highlands. The capital city of Edinburgh and Scotland's largest city, Glasgow are both reached within an hour, making the Retreat the ideal base for a holiday in Scotland.

About the Owner

Lisa Roberts owns and manages the Retreat. Lisa lives on the Estate with her four children and husband, Jamie, who farms the surrounding agricultural land and manages the fishing and woodlands. The Retreat is their first holiday property on the Estate. They run a number of other successful long term let properties and wanted to give visitors from both the UK and overseas the opportunity to sample Scotland's wonderful rural life - somewhere they could come to relax, unwind and enjoy their beautiful surroundings. Lisa used to run a tourism business out of the five star Gleneagles Hotel so is very familiar with the local area; the Retreat has a wealth of information for visitors to help plan their excursions as well as recommendations for dining in the area. Both Jamie and Lisa are sociable and well travelled and enjoy meeting the many visitors who come from all over the world to visit this special Retreat in a beautiful area of Perthshire.

What a find! After spending hours looking at various self-catering holiday cottage options in the auchterarder area, we hit the jackpot with the Retreat!

It started with a warm welcome from the owner, Lisa, the log fire was roaring and tea and cake were set out for our arrival. The cottage was much larger than expected, immaculate and very cosy - we loved the oak flooring and underfloor heating. The location is a real bonus with fantastic views across the whole valley and is totally private. It was the perfect place to chill out and relax, undisturbed. We brought our dogs who slept in the drying room (also with underfloor heating), there is a very big, flat grass garden around the cottage which is fenced, so our Lab and Terrier had lots of room to roam free when they came back from our walks along the river and through the woodlands. There are a lot of good restaurants within 15 mins ( very informative house notes with helpful recommendations). We enjoyed a lovely meal out but preferred to stay at the cottage with the fire on and watching the wild weather moving across the valley. Very sad to have to leave this haven but already looking forward to revisiting as soon as we can, we couldn't recommend it more highly, to anyone!

Relaxing coxy retreat

  • 5 of 5

I can't even put to words how quaint and lovely this Retreat House is. Every window has an amazing view. When we were there the weather was rainy but it didn't keep us from adventuring. We took day trips all around Scotland and then nestled in to the cozy cottage at night with a fire, wine and dessert. We are from Colorado, USA and had such an easy time booking with Lisa. She is very helpful and gives you so much good information. Lisa greeted us upon arrival and even let us pick veggies from their garden just down the street. I would highly recommend the Retreat house whether you are wanting to stay inside or adventure outside, its a perfect house.

Wonderful start to 2016

  • 5 of 5

We spent New Year week at The Retreat and it was the perfect relaxing and peaceful start to the year. From the moment we arrived to the table set for tea with home baking, the real Christmas tree and a very warm welcome from the owner, Lisa, we knew we were in for a great break. The cottage is as lovely as it looks in the photos, with everything very clean and well maintained. The location lets you feel totally away from it all, but with the convenience of shops and restaurants only a short drive away. We have already booked to return to this fabulous cottage!

Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week at The Retreat at Trinity Gask. We had high expectations as the photographs looked fabulous and we were not disappointed. Fantastic attention to detail meant that we had everything we needed and the extra touches were very much appreciated. The cottage was very clean and remote enough that the views were spectacular but not so remote you felt isolated. A very handy binder had excellent recommendations for daytrips and places to eat both locally and a little further afield.

Wonderful Peace & Quiet

  • 5 of 5

Have stayed here several times now and it was another perfect visit as always. Fabulous cottage, exceptionally well appointed in a wonderful peaceful location. Close enough to the A9 for good links to Perth but you would never know it. The log fire is lovely on chilly winters evenings. Nearest shops / takeways etc are in Auchterarder a short drive away. We will no doubt return for another peaceful and relaxing break in the future.

Relaxing and peaceful hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property, very clean, everything you need. Welcomed by Lisa who provided loads of info about surrounding areas, places to eat, shop, local walks etc. Kids loved the garden and we made great use of the fire, so warm and cosy on an evening. I think staying here in summer would be even better, definitely recommend to anyone.

Fantastic week at this rural Idyll

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, away from all the hustle and bustle. Perched on top of a hill in the middle of unrestricted 360 degree views of the mountains, forests and farmland. Deer, Hares, Pheasant and Buzzards each morning..

Well maintained gardens and house...quite stunning. Inside is not disappointing with lovely presented interior decor and well laid out eating and relaxing areas. The feel is bright and airy with lovely crisp white cotton bedding and heated wood floors. The house is immaculate and everything is provided to enhance the experience.

Loved the sash windows and the open real fire...logs provided (although we arrived in a mini heatwave and never got to use the fire - bet it would be fantastic in the winter months!!). Lisa welcomed us on arrival and helped us settle in and get our bearings. We also met Jamie who advised us on fishing on the river.. Great people and very welcoming.

We spent every day from dawn to dusk exploring the delights of Perthshire and beyond - beautiful. All the people we met were very pleasant and polite.

Would we come again...try and stop us..!!! Paul & Diane Howarth (Hartford, Cheshire)

From the Owner

The Retreat is an award-winning property and has a large number of repeat visitors because it is a beautiful and very comfortable house in which to relax. The location is stunning, without stepping in a car, visitors can enjoy many walks through the woodlands and along the River Earn, where they can see fish jumping, deer, pheasant, partridge and red squirrels crossing woodland trails and birds of prey soaring overhead. Guests cam enjoy the use of a new astro tennis court and also free fishing on the River Earn. The Retreat is also incredibly romantic. Couples come back time and time again to enjoy quality time together, having the UK's best restaurant 10 mins away is also a bonus! As a result, we have had many engagements happening at the cottage... both planned and unplanned!!
