Fantastic property in great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday in this fantastic contemporary house. We love this part of the world (beautiful landscapes, wine, food) and are always on the look out for a great house to stay in. We've spent many years in the area but until this year had not found a house we wanted to return to, but we will be back to Les Grandes Terres for sure. We stayed for two weeks. The first week my husband, baby daughter and I were joined by our parents. The second week we were joined by friends. The house suited both groups really well. Although we under occupied slightly, the house is well equipped for large parties. We have family nearby who visited us and there were enough plates, glasses, chairs etc for 4 additional adults and 3 children to comfortably lunch together and lounge around by the pool. We felt very well looked after. Jeff was easily on hand but not intrusive. It's very clear that Jo and Jeff love the house and take pleasure in their guests enjoying it too. We can heartily recommend this property.

PERFECT PROVENCE

  • 5 of 5

Stunning contemporary house in perfect location. Ideally positioned for touring around the local vineyards and striking out to conqueor Mt Ventoux for the keen cyclist, or simply soaking up the Provencal lifestyle and countryside. We found it a very easy journey to/from Marseille Airport.

We stayed as part of a larger group of friends and the layout of the accommodation is very sociable, with plenty of space for everyone, both inside and out, where there are a variety of decking areas and terraces to choose to relax in the warm sunshine.

The owners were easily on hand if required, without being intrusive in any way.

Recommend a visit to the market at Bedoin near the foot of Mt Ventoux, which has a wider range of interesting goods than the local Malaucene market. Vaison-la-Romaine is well worth a visit, as is Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, which is overflowing with lots of interesting shops and antiques. Le Barroux is a charming village and well worth exploring, with stunning views from the top of the Castle. We were spoilt for choice of places to visit and couldn't hope to see everything within the week we stayed.

In summary a great house, in a great location .... perfect Provence.

Fantastic Villa in amazing location - 5 STARS

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing holiday in this fabulous villa this summer. We came to Provence to celebrate a double birthday and were bringing a few friends with us so wanted it to be a holiday to remember. The villa is in a wonderful location - we were hoping for somewhere luxurious and also wanted it to be private and have views, and it offered exactly that. To say the view towards Mont Ventoux from the terrace is spectacular is an understatement! The villa is an amazing architectural building with a spacious and contemporary living area, and heaps of space, particularly in the ground floor where we spent most of our time when we weren’t outside. There is a huge dining table in this area which has sliding doors opening onto the terrace allowing for a great outdoor indoor living experience. Although the kids spent a lot of time outside in the pool, when they wanted some inside time the spacious and hi-tech living area provided a great place for them all to chill out! Everything within the villa is designed with a contemporary feel but is still very comfortable and homely – the photos don’t quite do it justice! There are also numerous terraces all with their own furniture so there was always somewhere quiet to go and relax with a book, which is great when there are a few families staying. The La Plancha hot plate on the terrace overlooking Mont Ventoux was used regularly for evening dining! There is so much to do nearby. The area is obviously great for cycling – some of our party ventured up Mont Ventoux one day – there are great local markets in Bedoin and many of the other local towns - we took the kids swimming in Lac du Plac only a few miles away which was great fun and Le Barroux itself has an amazing castle with wonderful views of the surrounding area. Even in 3 weeks we didn’t do everything we thought we would do as it was so fantastic at the villa that we stayed there more than we had planned! We’ll just have to come back again! Thanks to Jo and Jeff who were fantastic hosts and it was great to meet them on a couple of occasions – they couldn’t have been more helpful. We have been to Provence a few times and this is by far the best holiday we have had there .. if not anywhere. Thanks again for a holiday to remember!

Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

Quite simply the most stunning rental summer home I have ever stayed in. The location, overlooking Mount Ventoux but within very easy reach of all amenities is perfect. The house itself is even more amazing than the photographs suggest and the owners couldn't be more helpful if they tried. If I had to give this a score out of 10, it would be a straight 10 in every way. Anyone who has the opportunity to stay here will experience a holiday to remember for ever. The children adored it and the grow ups felt they had experienced a true treat.

An exceptional home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Jo and Jeff for a fabulous week at Les Grands Terres. We arrived on the Saturday to a spotless and beautiful home. Myself, two children (9 and 7)and my friend stayed for one week.

On arrival Jeff was on hand to show me how everything worked including the plancha for alfresco dining and the sound systems for the enormous TV in the sitting room. The beds were extremely comfortable and substantial (unlike many rentals in France). Jo and Jeff have gone to great lengths to make this a unique experience and there really is everything you could wish to find to make it a real home away from home experience.

Le Barroux is fabulously located for so many things, Mont Ventoux for cycling enthusiasts and walkers alike, Beaumes de venise, gigondas, vacqueyras, Sablet, too many villages to mention for those who love wine. Roque alric a village literally built in the hillside. Rousillon with its orange and red clay, Isle sur la sorgue for the Sunday market and brocante. Carpentras for the Friday market and wonderful lingering lunches at Chez Serge. Crillon le Brave for a cold glass of Voignier at the end of the day taking in some incredible views and some lovely food at Le Petit Crillon..

For children there is Accrobranche in Mormoiron roughly 20 minutes away with the lake and beach area to swim. Kayaking with Kayak Vert at Pont du Gard ( a fabulous day out for all). Walking the Gorges just outside Malaucene (Toulourenc)..take a picnic and make a day of it. Horse riding at Bedoin and on the mountain. Mountain biking, walking to the Turkish cave at the top of the Dentelles, climbing or just ice creams at Gordes taking in the pretty shops and scenery.....and more!!!

Even if you just wish to stay at Les Grands Terres you can soak up the sun on any one of numerous terraces, swim in the pool. Play darts, ping pong, trampoline, petanque or do nothing except soak up the atmosphere and pleasure of just being at this wonderful home.

Nothing was too much trouble for Jo and Jeff and we certainly cannot wait to return!!! Thank you

The quaint village of Le Barroux has one or two restaurants, a village shop with post office and coffee bar combined and an impressive castle.

The house offers the perfect setting for exploring the outstanding beauty of the Mont Ventoux national park, and for outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, walking and mountain biking. The towns of Malaucene, Carpentras, Avignon, Vaison La Romaine and Orange are all nearby and are great for shopping, sightseeing and are packed with restaurants. There is a theatre festival every July in Avignon, an opera festival in Orange and a dance festival in Vaison La Romaine. We are well placed to visit the stunning Luberon area and it's beautiful villages such as Gordes, Roussillon, Lourmarin and Oppede Le Vieux. There are also some tennis courts five minutes away and golf courses in the vicinity.

We are close to the famous wine route and villages such as Chateauneuf-Du-Pape, and Gigondas.
