About the property

Boxtree Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 3 guests in 2 bedrooms

Welcome to Boxtree Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish Cotswold holiday rentals.

Boxtree Cottage is a very peaceful property, set back from a quiet lane, in the small Cotswolds village of Hidcote Boyce. The village is surrounded by beautiful open countryside, with numerous walks right on the doorstep. Despite the tranquil setting, the cottage is only two miles from the historic market town of Chipping Campden, with its many restaurants, shops and beautiful buildings, and less than 10 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. The cottage is also approximately one mile away from both the Ebrington Arms and The Three Ways House Hotel (home of the famous Pudding Club), two of the best places to eat in the North Cotswolds.

Dating from the 18th century, Boxtree Cottage has been beautifully refurbished and retains many character features, including a large stone fireplace with wood-burning stove, flag stone floors and ledge and brace doors. Complementing these period features, the house has modern facilities, including wireless internet access, TVs in most rooms and a beautiful kitchen.

Boxtree cottage sleeps up to three people, in a double room and a single room, and there is a lovely family bathroom. The cottage also has an enclosed garden, at the front of the house. The layout of the property makes Boxtree Cottage an ideal retreat for a couple, or a small family.

delightful cottage

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property late on the Friday evening and were delighted with the service we received from the manager and owner, enabling us to take the cottage from the Monday. The information we received was accurate and we were able to find the cottage easily.

The cottage was charming and spotlessly clean on our arrival, and the tea, coffeee, milk biscuits etc were very welcome. The bed was King size and very comfortable.

We loved the cottage, particularly in the evenings when we lit the wood burner. It took us a while one evening to get the oven working and the user guide didn't seem to be there but we got it working eventually so there was no problem.

Personally we had no mobile signal, I'm sure other providers would have been okay and there was excellent wi-fi so again not an issue..

We only ate out one night at the King's Arms in Mickleton. Highly recommended, good food and friendly service.

We would definitely recommend the cottage and in all probability will use it againn ourselves.

Other Activities:

The Cotswolds are a range of hills in west-central England, sometimes called the "Heart of England". The name Cotswold means "sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides".

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Car: Hidcote Boyce is easily accessed by car, being located approximately five miles away from both the A44 and the A429 (Fosse Way), which are two of the main roads through the North Cotswolds.

Train: The nearest railway station to Hidcote Boyce is Honeybourne (approximately five miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of approximately two hours.

Plane: Birmingham International Airport: 39 miles, approximately 60 minute drive; Heathrow International Airport: 81 miles, approximately 100 minute drive; Bristol International Airport: 77 miles, approximately 100 minute drive.
