Awesome views

  • 4 of 5

Awesome views north & east from Rhone valley floor at about 500m elevation to Berner mountains 3200m. Step-free access to chalet door & main living area level from secure private covered carpark using small private funicular railway that serves small cluster of chalets: great fun for the kids, less so for those not keen on heights. Funicular also links ski run immediately behind chalet: brilliant for skiing in winter, walking & cycling in summer. Lower level double rooms are luxurious each with their own en-suite bath, shower etc. Bunk room situated between the two lower rooms is more basic: doesn’t have door or curtains & needs shutters closing to make it dark which is more fun than curtains for younger kids. Mezzanine bedroom has unbelievable views: but no curtains or blinds. We stayed end of June when mezzanine bedroom started getting light before 5 am. Sun rose over the mountain before 6 going straight into our faces. By 7 sun was above the eves so no longer directly into our faces. This wouldn’t be a problem at other times of year because the sun rises later & further south. If the bed was turned around you’d have an even better view & avoid the early morning direct sunlight. No en-suite on the mezzanine level: you use the main toilet/shower on the middle level. We made a lot of us of the decked area. At the end of June it was in the shade early morning, full sun by midday until sun set behind the mountain at about 8 pm. Most of the garden is a steep slope. Small area of level grass next to decking. Outdoor furniture consists of a large table, parasol, about 10 folding wooden chairs & charcoal BBQ. No sun loungers which is a pity: we were very kindly lent some during out stay. The decking or grassy area would be ideal for hot-tub for summer or winter use. Kitchen generally well fitted out but no microwave. The chalet doesn’t quite achieve 5 stars due to the mentioned niggles (if it had hot tub we’d give it 6 stars). La Tzoumaz is very quiet in June: hardly any accommodation in use. There’s a supermarket (size of a large Spar) in the village 5 minutes’ walk from the bottom of the funicular. Great area for walking. Not all routes involve steep climbs: there are miles of level bisse walks. No lifts working at the end of June. A week’s electricity for us was CHF53. There were five of us in our party & we didn’t feel it was too large for us. We would recommend it. Our particular thanks Dan & Mini, you were great hosts & went more than that extra mile.

Fantastic Chalet with excellent location

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Micheline is a great place to stay. We keep coming back to La Tzoumaz and Micheline. The Chalet, with a fantastic location offers spectacular views and easy access to the ski area. The Chalet is a perfect match for 2 families with children.

Wonderful chalet with great location

  • 5 of 5

Ideally located for skiers. The chalet is very welcoming and very well equipped. Very nice view of the valley thanks to the large windows. We had a relaxing and unforgettable week of skiing in La Tzoumaz.

Car: not necessary

La Tzoumaz is part of the Four 4 Valleys ski area, and is directly connected to Verbier by a fast and modern telecabine. You can reach the other resorts easily by the comprehensive lift system and reach Veysonnaz and it's famous downhill course 'le Piste de l'Ours', take the itinerary routes of Tortin and Gentianes, or by cable car up to Mont Fort and Mont Gele. Siviez is in one of the prettiest valleys and gives access to Nendaz. On our local north facing slopes are some of the best and quietest blue and red slopes, with great mountain restaurants such as 'Chez Simon', 'Croix de Coeur' and cafe 'Bar des Etablons'. Or smooze with royalty down in Verbier town centre with it's glamorous shops and restaurants. Alternatively, here in the family-friendly village of La Tzoumaz you have a good range of restaurants and cafés, children's play area, swimming pool, sauna, sports shops, supermarket, etc.

In both summer and winter the village hosts various events and attractions.
