A modern family ‘beach house’ home for memorable seaside fun!

The combination of quaint and characterful cottage, alongside a thoroughly modern interior gives this holiday home everything a family could want. Set in the beautiful village of Shaldon; guests can enjoy short strolls to all the local sights, and in particular to Shaldon beach where good old fashioned fun awaits.

A beach house styled cottage offers modern living to a high standard and forms the perfect base for those family Devon day trips and for when it is time for an evening of relaxation.

Discover Coastguard Cottage at a Glance: 3 bedrooms, sleeps up to 6, 1 ‘Jack n’ Jill’ bathroom & 1 en-suite shower room, open plan GF living, dining & kitchen opening onto a narrow patio area with table & chairs. Immaculately presented in a beachy theme and with a comfortable interior style. Unrestricted public parking can be found on Horse Lane or a week’s ticket at the Ness Car Park.

Ground floor

The open plan living, dining and kitchen area gives all the flexibility a family or friends group needs. With plenty of space and a high attention to detail; the overall feeling is one of happy beach house charm. The kitchen offers everything you could need, while the dining area is big enough for six to be together & share the day with each other.

Meanwhile, it’s just a few steps to the living area with a romantic, cosy log burner, flat screen TV, comfortable sofas and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Through a roomy cupboard in the kitchen is a small utility area with a washer/dryer, highchair & other useful items.

First floor

The bright nautical decor is echoed throughout the cottage with the beautiful wooden staircase takes you up to the first floor landing and through to a spacious king-size master bedroom suite with an en-suite door to a luxury Travertino natural stone bathroom. At the other end of the landing is a practical bunk bed room with ‘Jack & Jill’ style access to the bathroom also.

Second floor

A further bedroom with en-suite shower room is up a second wooden staircase to the upper floor offering twin beds or a king sized bed as required.

Outside

From the living area you can step onto a narrow, fully enclosed patio where a bistro style table & chairs allows for early morning coffee or pre-dinner drinks on a warm summer’s night!

Parking

There is unrestricted public parking available up Horse Lane rising up from the end terrace cottage or a 1- 7 day parking ticket can be purchased at the Ness Car Park which will also permit you to park in all Teignbridge car parks throughout your stay.

Things to do

From this quiet location, guests can easily reach Shaldon’s shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés. The quintessential Shaldon beach is just a 1 minutes’ walk away from Coastguard Cottage, providing the most idyllic spot for seaside picnics, paddling your toes, swimming even, water sports & exploring the South West Coastal Path or Templars Way. Alternatively, you can catch the historic passenger ferry across the River Teign estuary to Teignmouth.

Location

Access is easy by road, rail and Exeter Airport (all mainline stations to Teignmouth or Newton Abbot). The owners can also collect you from the train station, if required.

The fabulous beach is also just a 1 minutes walking distance from the coastal cottage, providing the perfect place for seaside picnics, swimming, waters ports and also the ideal spot from which to explore the nearby coastal paths or alternatively catch the small ferry that takes you across the estuary to the seaside town of Teignmouth.

Access is is easy by road, rail and Exeter Airport (South West Trains, Virgin, Great Western and all main line stations to Teignmouth or Newton Abbot). The owners can also arrange arrange to collect you from the train station, if required.

Golf:

Teignmouth Golf Club is justifiably proud of its heritage. The course was designed by the legendary Dr Alister MacKenzie and opened in 1924, some 9 years before he completed his most famous work at the Augusta National, home of the US Masters.

Teignmouth’s course is situated near to the South Devon coast and, at 800 feet above sea level, it commands spectacular views of the sea and nearby moors.

The 18 hole moorland links presents a great test of golf for players of all abilities. Features include six varied and challenging par 3s and no fewer than 11 two-tier greens, a true MacKenzie trademark.
