Stable Cottage and The Old Stables can be found in Freshford which is a beautiful village at the southernmost tip of the Cotswold hills, about five miles south-east of Roman Bath and three miles west of Bradford-on-Avon. The excellent local pub and restaurant sits by a 16th century bridge, and Freshford also has a tiny railway station with hourly trains to Bath, which is a ten-minute journey, as well as numerous other destinations. There is an award winning local village community shop and café that serves lunch.
My wife and I run this small holiday business from our home office just outside Bath. We own all
the properties we let and that currently includes two cottages in beautiful Freshford near Bath; one
one bedroom cottage just outside Bath and The Old Museum in Looe, Cornwall and a Medieval Tower in Trogir, Croatia.
We have designed the business on our own experiences of travelling and staying in holiday
apartments. Here are our main principles:
• Be as responsive as possible to any email communication from the customer. We try to
answer all emails within the hour.
• Offer interesting, historic buildings in a beautiful and relaxing environment.
• Offer locations that work well without a car.
• Try to make the properties as close to a “home from home” as possible.
• Work hard to keep the standard of maintenance as high as possible.
• We pay a bonus to our housekeeper if the words “spotlessly clean” appear in a review.
• Make the business of booking as simple and straightforward as possible.
• Trust our guests.
• Provide enough information to enable guests to find the property easily.
• Make the check in as simple as possible.
• Provide a stress-free holiday from beginning to end.
Paul Newson purchased this cottage in 2001
Stable Cottage and The Old Stables have just been completely renovated and were finished in June 2014. They are located in a

Freshford is such a wonderful little village, and a perfect place to explore the area from. This house was perfect for my family, and a wonderful alternative to a hotel. Very clean, very quiet, and comfortable. I wish we would have planned to stay longer as this was the best part of our trip. Thanks very much!
Our family of 5 met up to share Christmas at the Old Stables in Freshford. The Old Stables are wonderful, with all conveniences at the ready. It was comfortable and warm. The village itself is amazing with it's old world charm and the Inn was so welcoming. The situation was perfect for our trips through the Cotswolds to Castle Combe then on to Stratford Upon Avon. We also took a drive up into Cardiff in Wales, crossing another country off our list. I cannot recommend The Old Stables and Freshford highly enough.
Very nice and well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Ideal for visits to Bath which is just 10 minutes by train. Really enjoyed our stay here.
We chose the property to be close to our daughter's family who live in Midford Lane. Four adults and two children stayed for four nights. The property was comfortable and adequate for six people. The lack of outside space was not a problem at this time of year.
The kitchen equipment was good and the beds were very comfortable. Our one request for help was quickly answered.
We ate and shopped in Bath, using the local train station. Unfortunately the local pub was not serving food.
The only negative, if there has to be one would be the thin walls if you are unfortunate enough to have a neighbour who plays loud music.
Really enjoyed our stay at The Old Stables. Very comfortable, clean, pretty cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped and basic bits were provided ie toilet rolls, soap, shower gel, tea, coffee, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets - really nice touch. The cottage was in a very small, but beautiful, village. Very little in the village and unfortunately the Freshford Inn under going some building works so not serving dinner. Train ride to Bath excellent.
Wonderful stay in a lovely property. Fully equipped and extremely comfortable - large bedrooms with very comfortable beds and plenty of storage space.
We visited both Bath and Longleat and found the property ideally located for both. If wishing to eat out locally it is advisable to book ahead as we struggled on a Thursday evening to find a pub to seat 5 people.
