About this property

Stunning Mews House on a Historic Estate in Dublin

Perfectly located to enjoy the Coast, City and Mountains.
Beautiful Mews House on one of Killiney's most Historic Estates. A five-minute walk to the breathtaking Killiney Bay with its sweeping coastal views. With a number of villages nearby including Dalkey village which is reminiscent of a French Medieval town with every convenience and a host of restaurants and quaint pubs. The Estate is a great base to discover the beautiful island of Ireland. There is a DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport) train 5 minutes stroll to the beachfront station to bring you into the city of Dublin.

Killiney is widely regarded as the place to live in Dublin. It has the nickname of the "Rock Star Belt". Killiney and its close neighbour Dalkey don't take themselves too seriously and the locals are some of the friendliest you could ever hope to meet. The Valclusa Estate is the preferred location for many film directors, film and music producers, writers, actors, musicians and film studios including Universal, Netflix, History Channel and the Irish Film Studios.

Warm, calm and welcoming, the Mews has been carefully furnished throughout. Its airy open-plan layout makes it ideal for family trips where you can entertain, cook, laugh and most importantly reconnect again. We know those special moments just happen naturally, and the relaxed vibe here is the right setting.

The Valclusa Estate is one of the largest Estates (approx 5 acres), still held in private ownership in Killiney. We even have our own monument in the garden, look forward to telling you the story when we meet! It is only a five-minute walk to what is widely regarded as one of the most spectacular coastlines in Dublin and indeed Ireland.

We have paid attention to the details and want your stay with us to be as enjoyable as possible. The Norwegian duvets on the beds, a generous supply of pillows and the beds will always be presented in immaculate condition. It's how you start and end the day, and we feel it can be the make and break of a stay. The three bedrooms, two with king-size beds, the third has bunk beds. The property is very secure and tranquil and there is secure parking allocated for two cars in the visitors' car park.

Absolutely Amazing
Myself and three friends stayed here for a weekend for a bowling event in Bray. The accommodation was amazing and Jonathan and Karen are such lovely people. I can only describe our time there as amazing. It really is luxury and nothing is too much trouble. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Thanks again

Beautiful and luxurious
Karen and Jonathan were warm and welcoming and we loved our stay here. The beds were even more comfortable than at home so we slept so well in the peace and quiet. Didn’t want to leave!

Almost perfect
We really liked our stay here. The house is in a great location and the grounds are amazing. Everything was spotless, beds comfy and furniture ideal. The hosts could not have been more welcoming and obliging 10/10- thanks. Two things any potential hirers need to consider are the spiral staircase and toilet. The staircase will be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. Grandma had to live downstairs, fortunately that is where the toilet is. There are two excellent fold-up beds which proved to be comfortable and grandma was happy sleeping in the living area. We knew there was only one toilet, but shared between 8 people, well you can imagine the issues. These two things didn't stop us enjoying this great property and we would be happy to return.

PPleasant house in a great location in Dublin suburb
This place is near the DART station and also close to the scenic Wicklow countryside. A super location. The owners are very friendly and helpful and will suggest outings to you. They provide bikes for you to use. The grounds are vast and great for kids to run and play. It has 3 bedrooms and really sleeps only 6 people. The kitchen/dining area is adequate but certainly not spacious. There are 2 fridges which is great. There is however only 1 toilet on the premises. The bedrooms are adequately if sparsely furnished. I found the rental a little expensive for the return.

Perfect base to explore Dublin and escape back to peace and tranquility
A wonderfully renovated mews house located in a large garden estate. The mews house is very tastefully decorated and really invites you to sit back and relax with a book or glass of wine. The gardens of the walled estate are extensive and very well maintained. The kids loved the 'death slide' which must have been over 75 m long (insight into the size of the gardens!) and played footie. We borrowed the available bikes and explored the area - a big pebble/sand beach a few minutes walk away, also the dart train into both the city and next 'centre' Dalkey, which has a great selection of restaurants, bars and pubs to enjoy many an evening in! The owners Karen and Jonathan were extremely friendly and helpful, giving us some great tips which really helped make the most of our visit. We took the dart train into the city and can definitely recommend this as a stress free way to explore. After the hustle and bustle of the city it was great to be able to retreat back to the peaceful estate and village like character of the surrounding restaurants. This house is definitely not to be missed and I strongly recommend staying here! We will certainly stay here on our next trip to Dublin...

About the host

Hosted by Karen

Host profile image
Karen has a passion for architecture and design. She has many celebrity clients and is lucky enough to travel extensively for her work with loads of opportunities to meet great people and eat fantastic food. She's a closet gardener and has started to plant a bluebell and snowdrop wood on the grounds.

Why they chose this property

It was a family property many years back and has a special place in our hearts. These Estates are significant to Ireland's architectural heritage; many sadly are lost or their gardens have been divided up. Valclusa remains intact with a number of ancient trees on the grounds.

What makes this property unique

It's a stunning oasis, close to the city, ocean and the mountains. A home where you can truly have it all!
