About the property

1 bedroom, bathroom, separate WC, kitchen, dining / living room area

Sunny 40m2 apartment on the top floor of a small building. Great view of the medieval cathedral Notre-Dame from the living room. Free wireless internet. Cable TV. Cleaning fee, bed linens and towels are included in the nightly rate. It is situated on rue Saint Martin with its shopping, dining and strolling. The apartment is simple, basic, bright and pleasant. It has a separate bedroom with a 2-person bed. In the living room, there is a leather couch that converts to a bed. It is perfect for a couple or a couple with 1 or 2 children. LGBT friendly. There are some stairs, so we do not recommend babies or toddlers. The bathroom includes a French-style tub with hand-held shower head. The WC is separate. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, fridge, dishes, cooking utensils, coffee pot, electric kettle and a washer/dryer. There is a DVD player and a stereo. It is a super location. Centrally-located in the historic center of Bayeux - close to everything.

Parking in the lot across the street (Halle aux Viandes) is free on Sundays and between 7 PM and 9 AM other days. If you are out and about most days, the lot works well. For longer daytime parking, there's a large free lot a 7-minute walk away.

Carrefour City is a small supermarket less than 5 minutes away by foot on Rue Saint-Jean, right past the Bayeux tourism agency (very useful for maps, information on local and nearby activities). There are plenty of bakeries, pastry shops, sandwich places, as well as ethnic, traditional French and Norman restaurants within walking distance. On Wednesdays, there is an outdoor farmers market rue Saint Jean - about 200m away from the apartment. There is also a second outdoor farmers market up the Rue Saint Malo street on Saturday mornings. The centre Leclerc, Carrefour and Cora (on the way to Caen) are large supermarkets that sell food, wine, cider, electronics, books, movies, clothes and the like.

About Thomas and Martine Edwards

We live in New Mexico, but have family in Normandy so visit often. We love staying in our little apartment! We purchased it mainly for the location in the Medieval historic district and the wonderful view of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Perfect for a break in Bayeux

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as couple from Friday to Monday in mid March. The details of access to the property and the welcome information were very accurate and helpful. The apartment was perfect for two basic reasons:

- the location was so central, within strolling distance of all amenities and with a stunning view of the cathedral from the lounge windows

- the layout was excellent with plenty of room for us, Wi-Fi worked perfectly and everything was clean and comfortable

Parking was not an issue - the small lot across the road was used occasionally and there was a free lot about 5 minutes walk away.

Bayeux is a perfect place for a short break: we walked to the farmers market and the war museum and cemetery and drove out to the landing beaches. We watched the Six Nations rugby in a friendly Irish bar near the Tapestry and ate out in a creperie and restaurant near the Cathedral doors.

All in all, this is a great apartment for 2 (or 3) people. We would love to stay here again.

Great location and value!

  • 5 of 5

Clean, comfortable and a great location! This apartment in a charming building is centrally located in Bayeux with spectacular views of the Cathedral. This property is not fancy or plush: but, it makes a great place to stay when visiting Bayeux and the Normandy beaches. Sleeps three comfortably. Fabulous location, great value and responsive and accommodating owners. Would not hesitate to rent again!

Great location. Everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment in Bayeux was just what we needed. The kitchen was equipped with items for light meals, breakfasts, and snacks. The washer/dryer combo was very helpful (although we mostly let our clothes air dry because the dryer takes a long time to dry items). Our bed was comfortable and our son said that the couch bed for fine for him as well. We all appreciated the space that the apartment provided. It was nice that our son had his own space and we had our own room. The apartment has fans to help move air on warm evenings. The wifi worked great. The views from the living room are really splendid! We would stay in the Bayeux apartment again!

Absolutely the BEST!!!

  • 5 of 5

By far and away, of all the places we stayed in on our 50 day trip to Europe, this was the highlight!! and the BEST!!

First, let me say this this apartment is immaculate! Did I say immaculate?...It was better than immaculate!

Martine is one of the nicest people to work with. She understands the ups and downs of traveling and was amenable to a few changes we had to make in our itinerary.

Thank you Martine!!

My wife and I washed the floors and cleaned the apartment as a Thank You and also to help the next visitors.

Martine, I'd love to stay in your apartment our next trip to Bayeux!!!

Great location

Exactly what we expected, and wanted. Beautiful view of the cathedral. Very easy trips to the D-Day beaches, memorials and museums; All well marked and easy to find. Loved the "main street" right outside the door, for the shopping and sightseeing.
