High end family friendly villa, sleeps 10 (+ cot), with rare tennis court access
Mas Des Acacias is a high end, well equipped, family friendly five bedroom (2 double, 3 twin), five bathroom villa (four en suite) just outside pretty village Le Bar-sur-Loup. As well as a large open plan living, dining and kitchen areas, the house has a second TV area / study and well equipped utility room.
Outdoors there is a spacious sunny terrace with seating for 10-12 (and plenty of other space for the kids to run around), a 12m x 5m fenced pool with plenty of loungers and private garden. Use of a tennis court is provided, shared with the next door property (same owner). The local area offers a wide range of activities and is a great base for walking / hiking, cycling and exploring the Alpes Maritimes. Just 35-40 minutes drive inland from Nice Airport, the resorts of the Cote d'Azur are also within easy reach.
The modern kitchen / dining room has all mod cons, including a microwave, range cooker, large fridge-freezer and expresso maker. It has direct access to a lovely terraced seating area and gas barbeque, plus the remaining outdoor space, including some grassed terraced areas (fig tree provided in season!)
Family friendly, the staircase is fitted with stair gates, highchairs and cots are available on request. 2 TVs have basic UK channels inc. Cbeebies, BBC, ITV, C4 etc; there are a few toys for very young children and a selection of books .
Whether you are looking for poolside relaxation, mountain hikes, cycling, golf, cannoning or alfresco swimming in nearby rivers, Mas Des Acacias and the local area offers it all. The setting is beautiful, with renowned local "perched" village of Gourdon perched high above and numerous paragliders - none have landed yet.
There are a wide range of drives and walks in the mountains around the Gorges du Loup and further afield, and lovely picnic and swimming spots along the nearby river in the next door village Le Pont du Loup which also has a sweet factory which does tours (Confiserie du Loup). Many of the medieval villages in the area are stunning, and those off the beaten track, very unspoilt and quiet even in summer.
A great location for cycling, much of the Nice IronMan cycle route (June) is in the nearby area, with more leisurely rides possible along the old railway line (now a road).
Other activities available locally include horse riding, cannoning (there's a local provider in Le Pont du Loup with many more up in the mountains), hang-gliding and paragliding (from Gourdon above) and in winter, skiing at Greolières les Neiges about 45 minutes away. There are high quality golf courses nearby open year round (Opio 10-15 mins).
The owners' family have explored hikes of various lengths, with maps and guides provided. Hiking is perfect for spring and autumn; in summer it can be hot so be prepared but there are options with water en route or at the start / end (and one offers a jump off a Roman bridge for the very adventurous).
Alternatively laze on one of the loungers by the pool gazing at the paragliders high above, and pour yourself another glass….
* There's a market 5 mins up the road at Chateauneuf every Monday; and various farmers markets emerging across the area.
* The annual Bar Sur Loup village festival 'fete' is on easter Monday and is a great way to experience local culture, with a few things for kids to do too.
* The pool is heated from April to October (fee applies outside peak).

About the Owner
The owners are a Francophile British couple who fell in love with Le Bar-sur-Loup and regularly visit the area year round with various friends, children and grandchildren. The house was equipped after years of holiday rentals which never quite hit the mark, and we pride ourselves on being family friendly and making little improvements whenever we can. The rentals are managed by daughter Vivien in spare time around the kids, and she provides information about many of the activities in the area, and things to do with children. On restaurants, its a shared effort, and we gather feedback from guests to keep track on new places, old places, good places and (occasionally) disappointing ones too.

I had the perfect holiday at Mas des Acacias! The villa is lovely in every way, stunning views, good weather. I couldn't have asked for more. Totally recomend it for everyone who wants to have a relaxing holiday!
The place for complete relaxation - or adventure!
This summer was our third family holiday at the villa, taking with us children and grandchildren aged between 4 and 16 years. The house is beautifully appointed, light and airy with the feeling of ample space. It is extremely well equipped, with attention to detail, and maintained to a high standard. It lends itself to relaxed and leisurely outdoor eating on the lovely patio close to the house. The villa is situated in a very tranquil area, with a lovely (secure) swimming pool and the use of a very well kept tennis court. There are many places to visit and excellent wild water swimming for the young at heart! If there is a downside to this property we have yet to discover it.
From the Owner
“Beautiful, well equipped house in a great location with plenty to do and explore. A mecca for cyclists and hikers, those seeking canyoning or wild river swimming - or just a lovely villa with gorgeous pool to lie beside. All only 35 mins from the airport.”
Activity and Interests
Mas des Acacias is in an ideal location in the Côte d'Azur / Alpes Maritime, just 35 minutes from Nice airport. Situated between the sea and the mountains, the villa has easy access to both. Whether you are looking for poolside relaxation, gorgeous old villages, mountain hikes, cycling, golf, alfresco swimming in nearby rivers, Mas Des Acacias and the local area offers it all. The villa has access to a tennis court, shared with one other property next door.
Mas Des Acacias is about 3 minutes drive (20 minute walk) from the centre of pretty village of Le Bar-sur-Loup with its bakery, newsagent, chemist, cash point, church, small supermarket and restaurants. It is about 7-10 minutes drive from the larger shopping areas of Chateauneuf-de-Grasse (bank, bookshop, big supermarket etc) and Le Rouret and Opio (big supermarkets, butcher).
The lively, medieval town of Valbonne is about 15 minutes away and has many restaurants, art galleries, antique shops and a buzzing Friday market. At about the same distance is Tourrettes sur Loup and the larger towns of Vence and Grasse – perfume capital of the Côte d'Azur. For a shopping fix, Nice's Cap 3000 shopping centre is within easy reach as are the many boutiques of the coast.
The beaches along the coast, including Cannes and Juan-Les-Pins, Antibes and other resorts of the Cote D'Azur are all good to explore, if you can summon up the energy to explore. The beaches can get crowded in summer but if you are making a day of it, you can book a sunbed 'matelas' for the day at one of the private beaches with restaurants on site.
Nice, Vence (Matisse museum), St Paul-de-Vence (only a 20 minute drive past the beautiful Tourettes-sur-Loup) and Antibes (Picasso museum) all provide interest for art lovers. Monaco and the Italian border are also within easy reach, and in winter, day trips skiing are possible.
There are a wide range of drives and walks in the mountains around the Gorges du Loup and further afield, and lovely picnic and swimming spots. A great location for cycling, much of the Nice Iron Man cycle route is in the nearby area, with more leisurely rides possible along the old railway line (now a quiet road). Up to 4 adult bikes are offered with the house.
The owners' family have explored hikes of various lengths, with guides provided. Guided canyoning trips in stunning mountain locations are also brilliant fun for braver guests, and very popular with late teens and 20 somethings. Other activities available locally include horse riding, hang gliding and paragliding and in winter, skiing at Greolières les Neiges. There are quality golf courses nearby (10-15 mins) and there's even a go-kart track. We've been coming to the area for 10 years, and haven't got bored yet and the owners are happy to advise on the different activities.
Alternatively laze on one of the loungers by the pool gazing at the paragliders that launch high above from nearby 'village perché' Gourdon, and pour yourself another glass….

From the Owner
“As well as top notch kitchen, bathrooms and furnishings, the property combines being on the edge of a village with stunning views - especially from the pool terrace and swimming pool - up into the mountains around. With a great mix of relaxing surroundings, and plenty of activities (including a rare tennis court), there is absolutely something for everyone - except perhaps teenage/20s clubbers, unless parents are prepared to fund a cab or do a late night run down to Cannes or Nice to pick up. (There is a 1 euro bus to get down there, though not the speediest mode of transport)”
