Located in a lake front character property in the heart of the central lake, with spectacular views of L’Isola Comacina to enjoy, this family-friendly holiday home (ID 987) makes for the perfect Lake Como retreat!

The bright and spacious loft-style apartment is situated to the top floor and boasts parquet flooring throughout, with high sloping beamed ceilings to provide a romantic and uplifting charm to the property. The inviting interior creates a welcoming and comfortable home-from-home with a feature fireplace to the living area and a sunny lake view balcony for added ambience and charm.

Guests can fully relax and unwind in the spacious living and dining room which is furnished to a lovely modern standard with comfortable leather sofas, a TV and a spacious dining area for up to six guests. Informal alfresco dining and evening aperitifs can also be enjoyed to the private balcony which overlooks the breathtaking L’Isola Comacina.

A separate fully fitted kitchen provides all the necessary appliances for preparing and cooking delicious home cooked meals during guest’s stay and a selection of Lake Como’s most famous restaurants such as the romantic lakeside ‘Locanda La Tirlindana’ and the tourist Island restaurant of ‘Ristorante la Comacina’ are all just a stone’s throw away from the property!

This beautiful holiday home further boasts spacious and versatile sleeping accommodation for a family and group of up to 6 guests.

The large master bedroom suite enjoys a sloping beamed ceiling and is the ideal room for couples, with a comfortable double bed, a modern en suite with power shower and beautiful lake views to enjoy from the gorgeous and restful bedroom.

The second bedroom is also ideal for accommodating a couple and boasts plenty of space, a continuation of the romantic sloping ceilings and also a comfortable double bed with storage space.

The third generously proportioned bedroom to the property would ideally sleep children or additional adult guests, with a set of twin single beds, a study desk and plenty of wardrobe space for guest’s convenience.

A second modern fitted bathroom with power shower completes the internal accommodation and a sunny shared lake front garden which overlooks the famous L’Isola Comacina and leads to a useful shared boat pontoon ensures this holiday home is not just simply a base for a holiday on Lake Como, but a comfortable lake view home with the lake lifestyle fully available to be enjoyed and explored!

Sala Comacina:

The municipality of Sala Comacina is in the Province of Como, which is situated in the Italian region Lombardy. It has a population of around 630 inhabitants, is approximately 20km north east of Como and lies on the western side of the lake.

In the last century, the small medieval village of Sala Comacina was a already a popular holiday destination, as is evident from the large number of superb Villas dotted along the lake side. The 'Villa Rachele' situated on the headland 'Puncia' was once owned by Cesare Beccaria, where he was reputed to have entertained many famous writers.

Sala Comacina lies at the foot of Monte Costone, which makes a wonderful backdrop. Here you will find a good public beach and the idyllic lake front location makes this village so appealing. There are also restaurants, bars, shops and a bank in addition to a regular ferry service.

Take a boat trip over to the only Island on Como, named 'Isola Comacina', which offers guests a meal to remember in the Islands famous restaurant 'Locanda dell'Isola Comacina'. Apparently, the same menu has been served there since 1945, which certainly seems to be a good recommendation!

Lombardy - Lake Como Area:

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.

It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.

All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.

Warming, in spriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandro).

We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.



It wasn’t until the last night we discovered restaurants within walking distance from our apartment. The only suggestion I have for that particular property is to provide a local map with information about the immediate area. It would be helpful to have a list of restaurants that are “walkable”, as well as a map of the greenway.



We rented a boat for the day, and it was fantastic! I would encourage anyone to do that.



I plan to use Happy Holiday Homes when booking my clients at Lake Como!

From the property the idyllic Sala Comacina lake front with its romantic selection of restaurants, sports club, charming cobbled piazza and pretty harbour provide the ideal tranquil spot for fully unwinding in peace at your own pace. A frequent taxi provides boat trips to L’Isola Comacina from the harbour and a fast and reliable bus service provides guests with a fully accessible mode of transport to reach the other picturesque western shore lakeside towns and famous resorts such as Lenno, Menaggio and Como city.

As well as the iconic L’Isola Comacina nearby attractions also include Villa Balbianello, Villa Carlotta and the golden triangle towns. Guests who enjoy action and adventure can rest assure this location is perfectly located for swimming, tennis, power boat hire, golf, sailing, mountain biking, canoeing and hiking.

Golf:

There are Golf clubs around Lake Como: The Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club is Italy's oldest golf course. Established in 1907 with 18 holes Par 70, it is located above Menaggio near Croce, in Grandola ed Uniti, approx. 20 min. by car. Green Fees: Weekdays €55, Weekends and Holidays €70 Euros; Golf Cart Rental €36.

Restaurant Golf at the club serves fantastic food and is well recommended.. Guests are always welcome, please call beforehand to check course rules. Golf Club Menaggio: (Menaggio Como).

Skiing:

This beautiful lake region of Italy is not the best for skiing as you may imagine, despite its scenery, crisp air and near perfect visibilty and mountains capped in winter snow. It does however have Skiing opportunities at local resorts for a day out.

There is a small ski area on Mt. Lema, not more than 10 km from Lugano, but you have to be lucky to have enough snow for skiing. In Ticino, the local Swiss Canton, the best places to ski are probably either San Bernardino (south of the pass of the same name) or Airolo (south of Gotthard pass). Both are reachable in about 1 hour by car across the Swiss border.

There are direct trains to Airolo as well from Lugano and hence from Italian Stations. To S. Bernardino there is only a bus connection. For more snow try Andermatt (on the north side of Gotthard pass) which has normally good snow conditions and a good choice of runs.

The closest major ski resorts are St. Moritz and Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass which is approx.100km.
