'Miramar' Zahara, luxury villa next to beach, pool, jacuzzi and sauna

Overview

Property

Updated: 05-Dec-2016
5 Bedrooms, 4 bathrooms , sleeps up max. 12

At Villa Miramar we have sought to combine luxury with a high degree of comfort.Designed and furnished to the highest standard the villa is circular in design and set over three floors, making it ideal for families and friends who wish to enjoy communal living but retain individual privacy. All bedrooms and living spaces overlook the beautiful, sandy beach - a 5 minutes walk away -with sweeping views over the ocean to Africa. The villa comprises a large living room/dining room with open log fire, sound system and sat TV, a well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, a study/games room with WIFI and 5 bedrooms with spectacular sea views. Full air conditioning and underfloor heating ensure year round comfort. Surrounding the villa there are two terraces affording shade, comfy seating and elegant dining from which you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets that frequently grace the bay. The gardens are spacious with many flowers and vegetables, eternity pool, BBQ, swing.

About Zahara de los Atunes: Zahara is a small tourist town built around an old fishing village which has been known to produce excellent fish since Phoenician times, when tuna was first trapped in traditional nets (Almadrabas) extending from the coast. To this day you can see the annual catching of the tuna in the spring and autumn off the beach. The ruins of the Castillo de la Almadraba built in the 15th century by the Duques of Medina Sidonia can still be seen in the village. Unspoilt by by mass tourism, Zahara de los Atunes attracts visitors who want to enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches - and the largest at just over 8km in length - of the Andalusian Costa de la Luz. The village boasts excellent restaurants as well as the so-called chiringuitos (beach bars) in the summer. Occasionally, you can be lucky enough to see dolphins or whales swim along the shore.

Activities in the local area: Around Zahara and Atlanterra there are several nature reserves to be visited, such as the expansive national park La Breña y Marismas de Barbate, with its pine forests and salt marshes, where many endemic species of plants and animals can be found. The whole area is characterized by en extraordinary biological diversity and is known as a bird watchers’ paradise, since it lies on the route of migratory birds on their way to Africa. Great hiking trails along the coast and horse-riding along the beach or in the forests invite the active tourist to explore the beauty of this area. Of course windsurfing, kite-surfing, sailing, and all water sports are possible. The windswept town of Tarifa, only 30 km away, is known as Spain’s most famous surf spot.

Daytrips: For those interested in culture, the province of Cádiz, historically frequented by various cultures such as the Vikings, Berbers, Phoenicians, and Romans, is full of fascinating sites to explore. Nearby, you can visit the ruins of Baelo Claudia, a major town built by the Romans, from where fish preserves were exported all over the Roman Empire. Vejer de la Frontera, one of Spain’s famous white villages, lies on a hilltop just 15 km from Zahara. A walk down the twisty narrow streets evokes the rich and varied history of this town. Particularly prominent is the influence of the Arabs who held the town for 593 years. Whale watching trips in the Straits of Gibraltar are not to be missed, as well as a trip to Africa.

We love it! We’ve been lucky enough to stay in some fab villas all over Spain over the course of 10 years. But Miramar wins. Stunning views, great pool, gorgeous beach and a well equipped villa. The design is brilliant.

Fabulous villa in fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying at Villa Miramar. The villa is well laid out, spacious, beautifully maintained and is spotlessly clean. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped for foodies like us, and we loved having freshly squeezed orange juice from the trees in the garden. The pool and jacuzzi are terrific; it doesn’t come much better than sipping evening drinks either on the wonderful terrace or in the jacuzzi to watch the setting sun over the ocean (we had some really amazing sunsets too). When we were not lying soaking up the rays, we ventured to Tarifa to see the whales and also over to Tangiers, both great trips. All round a fantastic stay and we would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday in a beautiful villa. We will be back!

A villa "non pareil" in unspoilt southern Spain

  • 5 of 5

A super-luxury villa set in an unspoilt part of southern Spain. It has the highest specifications both inside and outside, and sits in beautifully maintained gardens above a pristine golden sand beach with fantastic views across the Atlantic Ocean to North Africa.

We enjoyed coastal, beach and inland walks, cycle rides and water sports. . One day we drove to Jerez to explore the city and the bodegas.

Every proclivity is catered for: for the active amongst us there were surf boards, kayaks, bicycles, the swimming pool etc. Indoors there were board games, DVDs, WiFi and a beautifully equipped kitchen where we enjoyed concocting delicious dishes using local produce fresh from the markets. One evening we ventured up into the hills for dinner to a marvellous "local" restaurant run by a couple who had originally come here for the surfing, but had fallen in love with the area and had stayed here to live and work .

In the evenings we savoured our pre-prandial drinks of local wine out on the large terrace against the backdrop of stunning sunsets.

This is a very special place to which I would, unhesitatingly, return.

Utterly lovely

  • 5 of 5

A really beautiful villa in a magical spot. Wonderful views of Tangiers, an almost deserted beach with excellent boogyboarding, a very well equipped kitchen and ample dining space both inside and outside - all in all one of the very best villas we have ever stayed in. We will be back!

The best family holiday ever!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Villa Miramar in July 2011 and it couldn't have been better! We enjoyed the villa so much that we didn't want to leave. The place is so peaceful and the views are to die for. There were 12 of us and the accommodation was everything we had hoped, with plenty of space, comfy beds and a sheltered pool area. We made use of the vegetable garden and the abundance of limes and lemons and the kitchen bar area was great for getting together for pre-bbq drinks. The two bedrooms downstairs were perfect for our teenagers, leaving the upstairs for parent and grand-parents. Altogether the perfect place to spend a family holiday and we will certainly be back. Thanks to Nickie, Tom and the Villa Miramar team for your wonderfully attentive service.

First visit to Spain - what a place!

  • 5 of 5

As a family covering three generations, the villa was fantastic and accommodated all the needs of people from 65 through to 6 months. Fourteen of us in total.

What a fabulous location with views across to Africa, and a wonderful beach within mins of the villa by foot.

You will need a car to be able to visit the many fabulous places nearby like Barbate (20 mins) and Vejer (25 mins). We enjoyed some great Tapas in Casa Juanito in Zahara (all the Spanish eat there!) - thoroughly recommended aslong as you like you like fish!

The help from the owners prior to our trip was fantastic and Joke was great whenever we needed something.

Looking forward to returning some day..

A Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

After our first visit to Miramar in 2008, we were so enchanted with the experience that we came back a further two years, making it our 'home away from home' in southern Spain.

The property is well-maintained and comfortably caters for large families with children or couples who want a quiet retreat from a busy lifestyle.

Spectacular views from every room in the house and walking distance to beautiful beaches makes this an ideal location for those looking for a perfect seaside holiday.

The customer service and staff support locally was efficient and friendly.
