Peaceful place to stay and getaway from it all

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pirates lookout. Very clean and tidy with plenty of fresh towels and s real homely feel. There were fresh flowers in every room. There was everything we needed to make us feel at home. The surrounding countryside was beautiful and we enjoyed a few walks around the fields, the children particularly enjoyed visiting the sheep and pigs. We also made full use of the tennis courts. The drive up to the cottage is extremely bumpy but this just added to the feeling of the place being very well hidden away. We all would love to go back and visit again.

Amazing relaxing long weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Pirates Lookout over the bank holiday weekend and we loved it. I have a 5 year old daughter and a 8 month old cockapoo who ran blissfully around the garden and on the deck and it was safe and enclosed which was great for us. The balcony was wonderful to sit out and have breakfast as well as afternoon / evening drinks and the bath - well my daughter thought she had gone to heaven. It is lovely and cosy and the only thing that could have been better was the weather ! Phone signal is not great although there is Wifi for those who cannot switch off.

We have a 4x4 so the bumpy farm lane wasn't a problem but I probably would not do it in a sports car...

All in all a lovely retreat and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Cottage

  • 3 of 5

The property is fairly compact, bit quaint. It lends itself to an adult holiday, rather than a family holiday, there is limited wardrobe or drawer storage on the property, perhaps suggesting a short stay is advisable. The bathrooms were immaculate and the property was very clean, there were lovely fresh flowers waiting on arrival. The tennis court is a good asset to the property but is fairly untended and looks run down. The kitchen has basic provision, but does not lend itself to self catering. There was a lovely coffee machine, but it didn't work and there was no alternative caffeteire provision. To operate the TV one person had to stand one end of the lounge, whilst the other stood the other end, because the layout of the room blocked the signal from the controller to the TV box, perhaps demonstrating the property hasn't been tested for practical use.

Enjoyable New Years break

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Pirate Lookout for three nights over New Years as a party of 6 adults. The house is in beautiful location, very peaceful and great views with coastal walks within minutes of leaving the property. We ventured out to Hastings for dinner on our first night which was less than £10 by taxi. The other nights we stayed in and cooked and the kitchen in the house is well stocked with most items needed to cook with. We did forget to bring one or two items which Cecilia did kindly bring over to us. The house has a good communal space and we felt we had plenty of room with 6 six adults, we had one person sleeping in the living room, three in the main bedroom and two in the downstairs double.

The road leading down to the house is a bit rough but I made it down and back a couple of times in my Vauxhall Astra with no damage so it is definitely do-able. The house has no phone signal (which for the most part is a good thing) but did make it very difficult ordering a taxi into town. But if you are more prepared you can book ahead or arrange something over the wifi.

All in all we had a great weekend and really enjoyed our stay at Pirates Lookout.
