DESCRIPTION

Extremely well located "Frontline Beach" luxury complex. Duquesa is a great family or romantic getaway location. Cosmopolitan and Spanish in equal measure, the genteel area is predominately non package self catering in nature, a great place to explore further into Andalusia as well!

Adjacent is the pretty and well lit seated promenade between Duquesa Port to the north and Castillo village to the south (level walk 10 minutes max in each direction).

Marina Del Castillo is located in a quiet and peaceful location yet within very easy walking distance of restaurants bars and facilities. It is the most exclusive and recently completed beach front development in Duquesa. There is a secure allocated underground parking space.

A very comfortable well furnished, spacious, very secure (24 hour 7 days a week manned security with CCTV) ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. Part of an ultra modern beach front apartment complex with an excellent pool.

It comprises an open plan lounge/diner, 2 bedrooms (plus queen sized self inflating bed for two extra guests), 2 bathrooms (1en suite) and a spacious shaded covered terrace with six seater outdoor dining table overlooking the secure pool area. There is also a sauna and gardens and free WiFi in reception & around the pool. Local property management company contacts are on hand for peace of mind.

The apartment has a state of the art home automation system, a hydro bath, hydro massage shower, hot and cold air conditioning and flat screen TV with some english channels and SKY (available free to air channels only), there is a DVD player as well. It is finished to a high specification with luxury tiled floors to all rooms and walls in the wet rooms (2). The kitchen is fully fitted including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, microwave etc. There is a washing machine located outside the kitchen. Lounge and bedrooms have total blackout electric one shot shutters (fantastic for restful sleep at any time), these, plus double locks and security bolts on all patio doors combined with the 24 hour manned security makes the apartment ultra-secure (Rosa and her team do a great job and keep a watchful eye on everything - use Google Translate to communicate).

Marina Del Castillo is within a very short, flat walking distance of all amenities including Duquesa Marina (the port), El Castillo village and Sabinillas town. The adjacent promenade also goes north through the port and on to the lovely Spanish town of Sabillinas, home to many more restaurants and tapas bars and a stunning beach. Whilst not adapted for wheelchair access there is level walking/wheelchair access to the apartment, reception, pool and to all local facilities in Duquesa and El Castillo.

Adyacente está el bonito y bien iluminado paseo marítimo sentado entre el puerto de Duquesa al norte y el pueblo de Castillo al sur (nivel de 10 minutos max en cada dirección).

 Marina Del Castillo está situado en una zona tranquila y tranquila, pero a poca distancia a pie de restaurantes, bares e instalaciones. Es el desarrollo de playa más exclusivo y recientemente terminado en Duquesa. Hay un espacio de estacionamiento subterráneo seguro asignado.

Why Steve Sayers chose Manilva area

Luxury 2 bedroom 2 bathroom frontline beach apartment + secure garaged parking in a fantastic location - great local food/bars, amenities and the whole of Andalusia to explore (Ronda and Tarifa are fantastic). Just over an hour from Malaga by car/ half an hour from Gibraltar. The Port of Duquesa - El Peurto DE La Duquesa - the port of the Duchess, is set between the Spanish town of Sabinillas and the quiet fishing village of El Castillo, all within easy level promenade walking distance. Duquesa and the surrounding area has a variety of local and cosmopolitan bars and restaurants to choose from and everything is on your doorstep in the port, Castillo and Sabillinas. Check out Google Earth satellite view from the map too see how well placed the apartment is.

The ground floor location is great for families and the large shaded terrace overlooks the pool without being too close.

The pool and the beach offer hours of glorious sunshine, but the terrace is a welcome retreat.

The port has regular craft markets and the 'lucky lucky men' (very respectful) sell loads of value goods like designer bags watches and sunglasses - barter though!

The port is on three levels (wheelchair accessible) with a host of restaurants and quirky bars. Our favourites bars are the Leisure Lounge, The Bar, Ocean Bar, Bar C, and Kinsales, our favourite restaurant is Sabor Toscana, great Italian food without pizza (Andreas is a brilliant host), but there are many more great ones and no space hear to mention them. Do try Tim's fish n chips at least once, the battered cod or fish gougons and a drink at the leisure lounge is a great way to chill.

Duquesa is an expatt and private residential/let/Spanish area with no package holiday accommodation/hotels, its a get away from it all place that still has charm yet can provide all the fun you want and if you hire a car from Bruno's (best car hire) in the port you can sample the many delights of Andalusia, Ronda, Casares Tarifa etc

You will love Duquesa and the apartment surroundings are superb. You can chill and not move more than 300 meters or you can sample the delights of Andalusia. Duquesa is a compact upmarket cosmopolitan Port, set between two very Spanish towns away from madding crowd - no package holidays or budget hotels in the area.

Great property, great location, kids loved pool and beaches!

We all enjoyed our stay in La Duquesa. The appartment was a nice size, well equipped and ideally placed for the pool. We used the pool every day and also visited the beaches in La Duquesa, Sabanillas and Estepona which were all easily accessible.

Steve was very responsive, answering questions before and during our stay which helped things run smoothly!

Overall I would recommend the appartment and the area for a holiday.

Wonderful apartment

This apartment is fantastic-very clean, all mod cons, super size balcony with plenty of seating. The pool was super. The beach was literally a 1 minute walk. AMAZING. Will definitely be going back again next year !

Tired and grubby

This is described as a luxury apartment, this only applies to the bricks and mortar.

This is the first and only time I have ever had such disgusting, unhygienic bedding, totally unacceptable. We had booked this apartment for 4 weeks and on changing the bedding found the duvets, mattress and pillow protectors badly covered in unhygenic stains and had to request items to be washed and replaced.

On arrival we discovered a unpleasant, strong drain smell coming from the en-suite bathroom, which lasted for the whole stay, some days worse than others.When reported we were told it is a typical Spanish problem, but this is hard to believe as it is a modern complex.

With regards to the kitchen it is very poorly equipped, this included 2 burnt cooking pans, a disgusting baking tray, which were unusable and we had to buy our own to use. The crockery and glasses are incomplete sets, having to use shallow soup bowls for cereal, 1 high ball glass and 3 tumblers as an example, when the apartment is listed for 6 persons.

We feel that we have overpaid for our stay considering the condition and position of the apartment, there are nicer appartments in the complex for the same or less money.

If it was not for the fact that we have 2 lots of friends flying out to stay we would have packed up and gone home after the 1st week upon finding the very unhygenic bedding.

All the consumable items e.g bedding, towels, crockery and electrical kitchen goods need to be replaced.

I would not recommend anyone staying here as the owner is not concerned about the comfort of his paying guests.

An excellent apartment.

This was an excellent apartment. Well situated to the local amenities; which were all within walking distance. If you want a nice relaxing holiday; I would recommend this area, and apartment. Local restaurants and bars are superb, mostly situated around the marina. Plenty of night life if you want it. The area suits all tastes. Beach is excellent and you can walk for miles along the pathways at the rear of the beaches

Location location location ..... excellent apartment in a lovely area!

This truly is a lovely apartment, in fact some of the pictures don't really do it justice. We had a great time here and it is a great base for exploring Andalusia which is highly recommended!

The apartment fell 1 star short of full marks because we tend to like a balcony which attracts a little sun at some point in the day but this one didn't, i appreciate for some this might actually be a bonus though! It is plenty big enough with some nice furniture overlooking the pool though. The only other slightly annoying thing was some kind of generator noise heard from the bedrooms, it could be quite annoying late at night... it was not constant but did go on and off periodically - luckily by bed time we were exhausted so it did not spoil our sleep too much.

Great location near the port and beach lovely complex well maintained

Had a lovely time apartment lovely with all the comforts of home. In such a great location near all the restaurants, bars markets that Duquesa has to offer. Golf course within driving distance. Gibraltar about 35 mins away if you want to visit. Also the Roman baths is a different wee experience. The complex is kept very clean and has 24/7 friendly security which is good.

A great location to go to other places near by e.g. Estepona, Marbella, Benvista. Duquesa well worth a visit have been here on many occasions and love it.

Superb frontline beach position centrally located between the cosmopolitan Port of Duquesa and the very Spanish fishing village of El Castillo. The level promenade walks and apartment are wheelchair friendly. The Spanish town and promenade of Sabinillas is also a short walk away.

The Marina/Port in Duquesa is a delight to browse, wrap round breakwaters provide great views of the port, sea and mountains.

The area provides fresh local food and the port has an eclectic mix of international cuisine with some superb Italian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Mexican, Indian and Spanish restaurants (I have tried them all, all good some fantastic). There are plenty of takeaway options in the port and nearby if you want a night in front of the TV.

You needn't venture far, but for a change visit Estepona, fifteen minute drive away and sample great food in the town and an excellent Thai in the Estepona port. There are also great restaurants a short drive into the hills above Duquesa and in nearby Soto Grande. There is even a British run fish 'n chip in Duquesa port (Tims’s) and another fish 'n chip takeaway (with restaurant that does Sunday lunch) and restaurant within 5 minutes (Los Hidalgous, next to the two good supermarkets Eroski and Maxi Dai), all the fish is cooked to order at both establishments, which can mean a short wait, but a swift drink from the bars (use the Leisure Lounge opposite Tim's) will make the short wait a pleasure (you can eat at the Leisure Lounges seating in the fresh air).

There is a small supermarket in the port itself and the gift shop/paper shop in the middle of the port also has basics and bakes fresh bread every day including Sundays (you can wait and have it hot if you want, it will still be warm when you get back to the apartment). There are 3 larger supermarkets within easy reach for larger shopping purchases with wines particularly good value.

Duquesa is a real hidden gem; anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with the sea, yachting, boating, great countryside, golf, good food, polo, walking etc. will be well served. With all this cosmopolitan and Spanish ambience on its doorstep, Duquesa is also within easy access of Puerto Banus, Marbella, Gibraltar, Soto Grande and inland jewels like Casares and Rhonda (must see).

Duquesa and the surrounding area is a fantastic place for a relaxing break with good food, good wine, long happy hours in the bars and plenty of places to visit if you want to venture further afield. Take a trip to Gibraltar to see the monkeys or to Tarifa town and beach for an amazing display of kite and windsurfing and fresh fish.

Duquesa is not the typical Spanish holiday destination, it has an upmarket but laid back cosmopolitan feel and there are no package holiday resorts or tour hotels in the area. Visitors come from Spain and all over europe but English is spoken and understood everywhere in Duquesa, you might have to practice your Spanish in Sabillinas, El Castillo or further afield. I like the area so much I have a family apartment here as well and can thoroughly recommend the area from Jerez and Cadiz to the West and Granada to the East, do visit Ronda, it is a long but great day trip. Also try and get to the Tangana Beach Bar at Valdevaquros Tarifa for a real chill out experience.

Additional costs/services; cleaning charge for 7 days €30, over 7 days €40 unless guests request a mid-stay clean at €30 (€60 in total for 7 plus days), laundry linen & towels per bedroom €16, again guests can request a mid-week/break change at €16 per bedroom. Additional €16 linen cost required if lounge is used as bedroom.
Additional cleaning at €10 per hour. Refundable security damage deposit €260/£200.
