About the property

Lovely family house near Uzes with pool

This typical French house is located in the beautiful hillside village of Seviers. Nestled on a wooded hillside in sheltered spot, it has amazing views across open farmland towards the historic market town of Uzes.

We let the property with four double bedrooms (three on the ground floor and one on the first floor) and two bathrooms (one on each floor). There is a light and spacious living room that comfortably seats 8 people and a huge kitchen / dining room that will also seat 8. Running along the length of the house is a terrace for outside dining (there's a BBQ here adjacent to the kitchen) or just relaxing in the sun and listening to the birdsong.

Outside there is another terrace, more seating and a decked area around our brand new 10mx5m salt water pool.

About James

We split our time between here and London and miss it when we're away. It's really more of a home than a holiday home.

James purchased this villa in 2012

Why James chose Uzes - Pont du Gard

We searched around Provence and Languedoc and fell in love with Uzes. Serviers offers easy access to the bustle of Uzes but the house, nestled at the edge of a sleepy village with views across the fields to Uzes in the distance, is the perfect spot to relax.

What makes this villa unique

The views are the best part of the property, plus the ability to be walking through woodland and fields just seconds from the front gate, Plus the house and garden have plenty of different spaces to hang out together but loads of nooks and crannies where you can escape for some peace and quiet

Lovely home, pristine pool, interesting location.

We have rented houses in the US, Italy and France in the hope that we would find one we'd like to return to on a regular basis. This lovely home is the one for us. We travel with our 2 teenage children and invite family members to visit. Here, we have the space to cater for our family group. The location is great, the house is very comfortable, extremely well-stocked and carefully maintained. We're torn between telling people how great it is - and keeping it secret for ourselves!

Exceeded my expectations and then some

I know the photos make this place look nice but believe me when I say they don't do it justice it is frankly gorgeous. I stayed with my husband for a week and we had one of the best holidays we have ever had. The place is really well stocked with literally everything you could need. It has an extensive collection of books and enough DVD's to sink a battleship as well as games. Especially impressive is the lovely kitchen. My husband loves to cook but as a result can be a little fussy when cooking in someone elses kitchen and he had nothing but compliments for this one. You don't even need to bring a cook book as there many left for you in the kitchen. The best aspect for us was the terrace and we spent many a night outside eating and then taking in the view. We had a couple of cooler nights so made use of the large supply of wood and the log fire. The pool is great and there are lots of areas of shade if you need them but we spent most of our time sitting on the terrace. Bedrooms and bathrooms are fab and the rainfall showers so nice you can get a little stuck in there. The new owners are great and even left us food and wine in the fridge. Everything went very smoothly and our damage deposit was in the bank before we arrived home. They really make you feel at home and I loved it. In fact we loved it so much we have booked to go back the same week next year. Can't recommend the place highly enough I have stayed at a lot of places in France and this place is without a doubt the best I have stayed in.

Serviers is a peaceful hillside village just 6km from the historic market town of Uzes. The villa has beautiful south facing views across open countryside to Uzes. Ideally situated, not only to explore the attractions of the Pont du Gard and the villages of the Uzege but also walking and cycling in the Cevennes, Avignon, the antique shops of Isle sur le Sorgues, the Cote du Rhone wine region and the Roman towns of Nimes, Arles and Orange. The nearest beaches are around an hour's drive away, close to the walled town of Aigue Mortes. The area is served by airports at Nimes, Montpellier and Marseille, the TGV station at Avignon and in the summer both flights and direct Eurostar trains to Avignon.
