About this property

Restored 17th Century Villa with Swimming Pool, Chef's Kitchen+WiFi+AC

Villa Bracchi is a stunningly restored property sitting on 2.4 Ha (6 acres) located in the Alta Langa closest to the villages of Dogliani, Bossolasco, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Serralunga d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto, La Morra, and Alba. I purchased my first property, Villa San Lorenzo (VRBO #93138) in 2005 and it has been such a wonderful experience that I decided to purchase this property in the Spring of 2014 because of it's unique location providing incredible views of the Italian Alps, lots of privacy, and easy country road access to the best that the Langhe region has to offer with some of the most authentic, and highly acclaimed, restaurants and wineries within minutes from the Villa.

I kept the incredible structure of Villa Bracchi in tact while completely rebuilding (gutting) from the ground up including a new foundation, raising the ceiling height on all levels, new interior walls, and a beautiful open wood beam vaulted roof. I have spared no expense in creating each bedroom and bathroom with elegance and charm and modernity. Absolutely every inch of the Villa has been restored by hand using natural stone, sandstone, and wood recovered and restored from the original structure.

There are hardwood floors throughout the entire Villa as well as luxurious rain showers tiled with carrara marble in each bathroom. Each bedroom has a private balcony or terrace.

Beautiful home in Bonvicino!
We were a family of 6 adults and 3 children (ages 8 years, 5 years and 2 years). Clay's home in Bonvicino was perfect for us. It is a beautifully restored 17th Century villa, with all the modern day amenities that you could need on holiday, including wi fi and a heated pool! It is nestled in the hills of Bonvicino - and is set in the midst of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was just what we needed - and the autumn colours added to the magical setting. The three bedrooms on the ground floor were ideal for my son (2 years) (Clay provided a crib and high chair), my parents, and my wife and I. My brother and sister-in-law, and their kids took the two bedrooms on the upper floor. The large living room and open plan kitchen was where we spent our time together as a family, enjoying our wine, meals and getting a chance to cook together. Nearby Dogliani (approximately 15 to 20 minutes driving time from the villa, depending on the fog) had a lot of restaurants and big supermarkets where we could buy our provisions. We spent our days in the beach town of Noli, the vineyards and wineries of Barolo, Monforte D'Alba, La Morra, Nieve and Alba (the International White Truffle festival was an added bonus). It was very easy to drive to all these places from the villa. Communication with Clay was never a problem. He is passionate about a lot of things, including in particular photography, food, wine and travel - my entire family enjoyed spending time with him and getting his insights on so many different subjects. Clay has a lot of wonderful recommendations for places to visit, things to see and do, and places to eat and drink. We could rely on his suggestions with our eyes closed. On our last day, he even took us for a traditional Italian lunch (which lasted four hours!) - and the food and wine was spectacular. There wasn't a single dull moment. I would highly recommend this villa. I know that my family and I shall return to it very soon!

Couldn't ask for anything better.
I am not one who typically writes reviews but I really couldn't have asked for a better home to spend a few nights in Piemonte. The house was big enough to have intimacy amongst friends and couples staying with us, warm enough to bring us all together to raise a glass, knife, and fork. The house felt like a home and we only wish it wasn't November and we could have spent more time relaxing by the pool. Can't wait to come back. Miss it already.

Spectacular villa in Piedmont
Clay, the owner is a food and wine photographer, and every corner of the villa he renovated looks like a picture from a cookbook. The kitchen is equipped in a way that every food lover dreams of including a huge outdoor pizza oven. In the entire villa, every detail is taken into account for perfect comfort, each bedroom has an attached bathroom. Everyone has their privacy, and the common spaces allow for lovely moments together. The spaces are large and bright. There are air conditioners but we didn't turn them on even though we stayed there in August, the house is cool and pleasant, because it is located on the side of a mountain and the view is the main star. From every balcony in every room and especially from the huge pool you will see an endless view of green mountains. Clay was lovely and helpful with restaurants, wineries, supermarket, wine shop, butcher etc all within 10-15 minutes from the villa. This is the place for a perfect vacation in Piedmont. We would love to go back there.

Very sad to leave
We had an absolutely amazing stay at Villa Bracchi. This is a very special place with an exceptional host. Clay is a warm, hospitable owner who communicated quickly to answer our questions in the months and weeks before we arrived and during our entire stay. He was at the house to greet us when we arrived, and came to say good bye when we left. He made us feel like we were family. We booked this house far in advance to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. We were not disappointed. The house is beautifully furnished with comfortable bedrooms, baths and a kitchen well-equipped for cooking. Every morning we woke up and looked out the large picture window in our bedroom to breathtaking views of the valley and the mountains in the distance. The pool and outdoor areas are wonderfully maintained and outfitted, and Clay even made a special trip to the house one day to make sure our grandchildren had pool toys. Since we were arriving late in the afternoon on the first day of our stay, we asked Clay to help us arrange a welcome meal, and he had Rosaria, his Italian Nonna, cook for us. The meal was delicious, and we had many leftovers. Clay had wonderful recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. Most of the restaurants he recommended were 10-15 minutes by car. A car is important because the house is up a hill and nothing is within walking distance. We cannot recommend this beautiful home enough. You won't be disappointed

A true Italian Dream Villa! Perfection!!
This beautiful villa is the perfect place for anyone looking for an authentic and tranquil Italian experience. From the stunning views of the Langhe region, to the wonderful wines and exquisite cuisine, this villa truly has it all. The private Chef on hand made it possible for us to indulge in some of the most sumptuous Italian meals you could imagine. And the truffle hunting experience was truly unforgettable! Of course, being able to make your own pizza in the outdoor pizza oven is something that everyone should experience when in Italy at least once. And when you wanted to relax, you could take a dip in the inviting pool, or simply sit back and take in the beauty of the surrounding landscape. All in all, I can highly recommend this 17th century Italian Dream Villa in Bonvicino, Italy to anyone looking for the ultimate Italian holiday experience. You are sure to be enchanted by the breathtaking views, delicious wines, and unforgettable memories that await you.

I fell in love with Piemonte in 2002 on my visit to the region. In 2005 I took the leap and bought Villa San Lorenzo (property 93138 on VRBO) and lovingly restored that property. Clay is a world renowned food, wine, and travel photographer.

Why they chose this property

After purchasing Villa San Lorenzo, I always kept my eye on other properties available in the region. I took the next step by purchasing Villa Bracchi in the Spring of 2014 with the intention of creating a second stunning property in my favourite hamlet of Bonvicino. I oversaw the entire renovation project day by day working with our talented set of artisan builders to bring new life back to this historic property.

What makes this property unique

At Villa Bracchi, I kept the beautiful structure of the Villa intact while taking the opportunity to create a 21st century home outfitted with all modern technology and utilising green technology for heating and building materials in order to make as small a footprint as humanly possible. I think you will love what I have created!
