Thanks for a lovely week - our first time in the South Downs. Enjoyed lots of walks, Fishbourne Roman Palace, Weald & Downland Museum, Portsmouth Historic Dockyards and "War Horse" in Southampton. And the tennis - currently the score is one match all - will have to return for the decider! Thanks also for the breakfast!

Peace and tranquility in five star accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Our second stay in this fabulous converted barn. The owners have thought of every last detail to ensure maximum comfort and total relaxation. High quality bed linens and towels and extremely well equipped kitchen all in the most idyllic surroundings imaginable. You can go for long walks straight from the Barn and Chichester is only a 15 minute drive. Rob and Rachel went out of their way to make us feel incredibly welcome and were able to give us lots of advice on attractions in the area. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Wishing we stayed longer!

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely few days at Ruebens Barn. Rachel and Rob were great! The provisions they supplied were by far the most generous of any other accommodation we've let! Our grandson had a great time using the tennis court and the 3 bathrooms made getting ready very easy with 5 of us in the let. Also have to recommend the Star and Garter in East Dean.

Owner's Response: Having lived in West Sussex all our lives and raised our family in the Sussex Downs, Rachel & I understand just how beautiful the area is and the wealth of things to do and see within Chichester and the surrounding countryside. Ruben's Barn offers the ideal getaway, it's spacious, private and beautifully located in an area of outstanding natural beauty 8 miles from the centre of Chichester, 15 miles from beautiful sandy beaches at West Wittering, and surrounded by nearby local vineyards. We want to ensure that all our guests have a superb experience which is why we have paid particular attention to create a home away from home, self-catering accommodation. When we visit places around the world we understand how lovely it is to have a Welcome breakfast hamper and Rachel loves creating hers for our guests from local producers. Guests also comment on our facilities with use of our tennis court being a fantastic way to have fun and unwind. The barn is surrounded by farmland and forests hidden within The Goodwood Estate, and is just perfect for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers exploring this beautiful area. Romantic and family holidays are precious and we understand this which is reflected in the fact that people want to come back and stay again and again at Ruben's Barn.

Five star cottage in peaceful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed an incredibly relaxing few days staying at Rubens Barn. The cottage is extremely well equipped with high quality bedding and wonderfully soft towels. The kitchen had everything we needed and the owners had gone beyond our expectations to make sure we had everything we could possibly want for a delicious breakfast. The cottage was perfectly situated in the midst of the beautiful, peaceful countryside but very close to Chichester. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be coming back.

Charming property in the depths of British country

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time, relaxing, away from it all, but near enough to visit, Arundel, Chichester, and great local pubs.

We were surrounded by glorious countryside, saw pheasants, deer, and birds, all by looking out of our window. Great walks( (you could walk forever), completely relaxed, and ready to return to London refreshed!

Lovely stay and highly recommend.

Fantastic Little Holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a short stay at Ruben's Barn. The Barn is perfectly situated for exploring the area and the owners, Rachel & Rob, provided some excellent recommendations for beaches, museums and restaurants which were indeed great. The cottage is beautifully appointed and very well looked after. The little extras (toiletries and hamper) were a bonus too. Highly recommended!

Top of the charts for next year

  • 5 of 5

This being our first time going off the hotel trail in the South/South West of the UK on our travels we were excited to see what Rubens Barn had to offer.

The property didn't disappoint. It was beautifully finished off to a high standard and had all the modern facilities you would want in a rental/hotel room. The real charming aspect was the bath in the converted attic space, you could sit and read while soaking in the bath and hear the world go by, and with the week that was in it the odd sportscar.

We stayed in Rubens Barn as our base for the festival of speed and were delighted at how close it was to the Goodwood Estate. We hope to stay again soon for next years Revival Festival and Festival of Speed.

A must stay for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the City and looking to recharge their batteries.
