About the property

Four bedroom lodge with balcony, on site leisure facilities & jacuzzi bath

Modern and comfortable alpine style lodge in a wooded setting with extended balcony and views over the beautiful Tamar Valley and Dartmoor beyond. Tamar Valley Lodge has full use of on-site facilities including indoor and outdoor ( outdoor pool in high season only ) swimming pools, small fitness room and free WiFi and table tennis room. The lodge has WiFi, been fully re decorated for 2018 and is fully equipped, for up to 8 guests, and well furnished including leather sofa's, hi-fi with Ipod docking station, 32 inch Smart TV with Freeview, etc and a DVD player, large dinning table and chairs, dishwasher, cooker with ceramic hob, microwave oven, etc. Bathroom comes complete with a whirlpool bath.

Bed linen, towels, cleaning, heating and on-site indoor and outdoor pool ( outdoor pool in high season only ) are included in the rental cost. Lodge has one double bed room with en-suite bathroom and three twin bedrooms, additional shower room, large upstairs balcony with wonderful views down the valley, lounge, dining area and kitchen.

The Tamar Valley, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies on the border between Devon and Cornwall and offers an ideal holiday location for exploring this lovely part of Britain. Set in a wooded valley and with views over Dartmoor, the houses are situated on a pleasant quiet holiday site near to the small town of Callington. Lot's to do for all the family whether you choose to go out to explore or stay close to 'home'. Close to both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor, this is an ideal base for walkers. It is also ideally situated for exploration of the lovely Cornish coastline, including Tintagel and Boscastle to the north, and Looe, Polperro and Fowey to the south. Close by is the beautiful National Trust property of Cotehele, with views from the gardens over the Tamar Valley and the pretty town of Calstock. Slightly further afield and near to the town of St Austell are the lost gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. Plymouth, which lies to the south, can be reached by train on the Tamar Valley line. An interesting cultural centre and the county town of Devon, it offers all the usual amenities.

We love this part of Cornwall and now that our children are grown up we try to spend as much time as we can staying in the lodge ourselves. Our children also still love it and visit whenever they can.

  • Both bathroom and shower room are new. Shower heats it's own water and a larger hot tank has been fitted to give plenty of water for the jacuzzi bath!

Comfortable lodge, great location

Perfect location for exploring the best of Devon and Cornwall. The Tamar Valley itself is beautiful, with fantastic canoeing on the river (just down the road) and walks and cream teas at nearby Cotehele. Coastal villages of Fowey, Looe and Polperro within easy striking distance and great surfing on the north coast (Polzeath about an hour away). The lodge itself is ideal - very comfortable and spacious, with everything you might need. Fantastic big balcony overlooking the valley for al fresco dining. We'll visit again!

Comfortable, clean and great location.

Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Loved the location, the site was clean and well looked after and it was great having use of the pool and gym included. Helpful friendly staff on site as well, who were happy to give tips on some great places to visit in the area. Especially enjoyed Cothele and Lydford Gorge, which are both just down the road. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely Lodge and relaxing stay, ideally situated, very friendly

We really enjoyed our stay and even on rainy days we were able to enjoy some lovely walks which are within easy reach. Bar restaurant on site was excellent - as were the pools. All the family catered for and remained happy, including children and dogs! (So lovely to have our dogs feel welcome too). Knew there wasn't a washing machine before we booked so am NOT making a criticism but it would have been lovely had there been one. Please consider Andy as with four children and my 'other half' very regimental about how much luggage we are allowed to take on holiday, as well as restricted space with seven of us in the vehicle its difficult to not be able to wash clothes after muddy walks! (I feel it would be a tad expensive to use the laundry facility on site for the amount of washing I get through even when on holiday!)

Definitely want to go again and hope to be booking up soon. Thanks for all your help.

Great holiday in a nice site

Great area to explore

Nice location. House could of been slightly better equipped. Another full shower would of served up to 8 people better.

Maintenance support was unresponsive to our phone calls.

The site itself looks tired and needs updating. Tennis courts were not usable. I would if happily paid alittle more to have modern usable leisure activities on site.

You do need to travel to explore the area, which has so many places to visit and things to keep a family busy.

We would definitely holiday in Cornwall again,but expect alittle more from the accomadation and on site facilities.

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear that you were disappointed. However, we have to just say that the lodge is 'as advertised' with one shower. Guests needing two showers should obviously consider alternative accommodation. We did not receive any messages or calls about any maintenance issues what-so-ever. We have a maintenance team of two people on 24/7 call out. Agreed on the tennis courts which is why we do not feature/mention them anywhere in our advert. Seems a little churlish to complain about a facility not expected or advertised! Great that you liked Cornwall.

Great lodge in a fantastic location!

The property was easy to find with the directions provided, myself and 2 friends stayed for a week to celebrate our 30th birthdays and had a fantastic time. The lodge is very spacious, clean and well equipped. The on site facilities are great and the site is a good location for a lot of local and main attractions. Although the weather was not kind to us during our stay, it did not dampen our spirits! Would certainly recommend to friends and family.
