Moinho do Loural is a stunning 10 hectare estate surrounded on three sides by the Mira river with 700m of private shoreline. Originally a working tidal mill, there are several small guest houses that make it an ideal location for shared family holidays.
The main house has a wonderful terrace where leisurely meals can be taken in the shade of a fig tree and at night no other light is visible except from the stars. It comprises a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, both with fabulous views, a twin room, a further single room which gives directly on to the terrace and a beautifully appointed bathroom. There are two guest cottages in the grounds also with terraces and captivating views. A further studio with a glass wall overlooking the river sleeps four and is perfect for children. Everything has been fully renovated to a high specification while retaining the character of the original buildings.
Within the main house there is plenty of space to relax in a large, comfortable, living space and a separate study area. There is an internal dining table that seats up to 12 people and a spacious and extremely well appointed kitchen that adjoins this. A south-facing terrace is shaded by a mimosa tree and there is a large outdoor table hand-made from local stone on the main terrace.
A few metres away is the first guest cottage which has twin beds, an en suite bathroom and its own seating area with fireplace. From here you can meander through the landscaped garden to the pool or on down to the private jetty.
The second guest cottage - about 80 metres from the main house - can be reached via a path that winds through cork trees past an old well. Overlooking an orchard of orange and lemon trees on one side and the river on the other, it also has twin beds, en suite bathroom (with walk-in shower), fireplace and seating area and a wonderfully secluded terrace.
From here it is a few steps to the last remaining tidal mill on the Mira river.
