About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

Charming little, secluded cottage situated in an oasis of peace and tranquility near Monte San Savino in the Siena, Arezzo, Cortona triangle, a lovely picturesque corner of Tuscany, which will leave you spellbound. Characterized by the soft rolling hills, ancient castles, charming little hamlets and breathtaking scenery.

Many are the cultural and artistic treasures in the area.

An ideal choice for those who wish to relax in complete harmony with nature, the property is surrounded by olive trees and old oak trees through which you can catch glimpses of the town of Monte San Savino rising in the distance.

In Monte San Savino you can sit and enjoy antipasti with a glass of wine whilst taking in the majestic medieval architecture, or stop for an ice cream at one of the many 'gelaterias' the town has to offer. Equally, the local pizzeria only 5 minutes from the villa by car will not disappoint whether you fancy dining in, or 'd'asporto' back at the villa. At just 5km is the A1 motorway which will take you to Florence and Rome, and within easy reach is the dual carriageway for Perugia Siena, Lake Trasimeno, Assisi and many other interesting places making Villa La Gioga an important landmark and base for visiting the most important centres in Tuscany and the nearby Umbria.

In the vicinity you will discovery many smaller hamlets,

which are by no means less fascinating like Lucignano and Gargonza..

The cottage itself is surrounded by private gardens where you will find a 10x5m private swimming pool.

The two covered patios equipped for outdoor dining, will surely add to the pleasure of a most memorable holiday.

Great Villa, old Tuscan style, but very comfortable. If you like mod cons this place is not for you, but if you want a beautiful traditional Tuscan villa, then this is for you.

Large grounds with a nice pool. 15 mins walk to the village.

Amzing Villa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa La Gioga for a week in May as part of a longer trip exploring Tuscany and the North of Italy. After a hectic couple of weeks we were ready for some R&R and the villa was perfect for that! There is quite a lot of choice in Tuscany when it comes to choosing a villa, we found it quite difficult to establish without further enquiries to how private some villas were-whether or not pool facilities were shared etc. La Gioga is completely private, not looked onto with only a couple of distant neighbours, the grounds are extensive, I wondered around one day and couldn’t actually tell where the villa grounds ended.

The directions given by the owners were great, it is a bit off the beaten path but if you follow the directions you shouldn’t have any issues. I’m not sure what the previous reviewer meant by having problems with the drive, unless it’s been modified we didn’t have any issue getting down the drive to the front door in a standard hire car. Speaking to the owners the original house was built in the 17th century so has a lot of rustic charm. The main attraction for us having spent a week there were the pool area and outdoor kitchen area. We spent our days relaxing by the pool and in the evening cooked out meals in the outdoor kitchen enjoying good food and wine.

The house itself is perfectly comfortable but if I was being critical the owners could think about revising the layout to maximise it’s potential as a holiday let. There were only two of us so in general we were fine but a few observations.

We had a fantastic week in the villa. Monte San Savino is a beautiful walled town and providing you have a car there is much to do and see within easy driving distance. After a hectic previous couple of weeks we did not stray too far from the villa. There is a CO-OP
