Sitting on over ten acres of lush farm land lies the house at Serendipity over looks the entire farm land with a panoramic view of the rugged Atlantic coast line immersed with rolling waves and whitewash. With views of Bathsheba, North Point, East Point and Hackleton’s Cliff. Cool breezes, picturesque sun rises and sunsets are a few natural benefits to this property.
In between Martins Bay, which is famous for its fresh fish, and Bathsheba, home of International surfing competitions, there are iconic rum shops and good island food.
The property is a two story house with the upper floor being the accommodation. Styled and designed to give a natural and authentic experience. With varnished floors, colourful artwork and authentic island furniture and fittings. You can awe at the views whilst sitting on a sun lounger on the full wrap around balcony.
With the house located on a farm there are opportunities for several exclusive hikes around the property where you can see produce being grown. Also Hackleton’s cliff which is directly behind, provides an amazing hike to the top where you can be at one of the island's highest points over looking the property and the sea. The gardens around the house have been beautifully landscaped with a large lawn, fruit and coconut trees seemingly everywhere. There are two picnic tables, a bar, and a barbecue available for use.
I have three beautiful children and a long Barbadian ancestry. We frequently visited the island through the years of the children's early childhood and enjoyed every minute of it. We never wanted leave!
In 2004 we returned again, but for my father's funeral and simply didn't have the heart to leave. The country, the people, Barbados held so many cherished memories; it was our home away from home. So, I made the decision to make this beautiful island our new permanent home.
The transition for the entire family was so smooth, I knew I had made the right decision. Sometimes, a little sea, sun and sand is all you are missing in your life. And this is what we found in Barbados.
Alexandra Austin purchased this house in 2006
I have a love of the open air; without clutter and concrete, and as far away from pollution as possible. Living in the city unfortunately, made this quite hard, so I went seeking a place to get away; to enjoy nature to its full potential. I searched for months on end for my ideal getaway, but came up empty handed.
One day, I was driving my kids to the beach down the east coast and took a wrong turn somewhere along the way. We wound up on the top of a hill that overlooked all the coast. It was absolutely breath taking. We got out of the car and just took in the view for several minutes completely astonished at the discovery we had made. It was everything I hoped for and was looking for in a weekend getaway location.
It sat on 10 acres of land, it had an exquisite view, and it was so lush and beautifully green. I knew this was the one.
And so I named it Serendipity- the occurrence and development of great things by chance.
Secluded Location- Serendipity Bay offers you all the privacy and security you need. And what’s more is that our location gives you the opportunity to be away from the horror of excessive traffic and noise pollution.
Distance to City- The distance from our country house to our heart-warming, friendly neighbouring and historical city are quite close. In addition to having your own personal driver or our incredible car rental services, our island’s transport system is quite efficient, therefore if you’re traveling by bus, bus stops to and from the city are easy to find and so are our bus stations. So when you’re either touring or shopping, you will be sure to get there, smoothly quickly.
Breath Taking Views- Where ever you turn, there’s always a marvelous view to behold. You are able to view the North, South, East and West from our lovely location.
t is often said that you should never go back, however we enjoyed our stay ar Serendipity so much last year we decided to return. We were not disappointed. The property is superbly maintained, the grounds outstanding. Alex is a fantastic. She is the perfect host who respects your privacy but is always on hand if you need her. This year we sampled the excellent local food at The Bay Tavern, Martins Bay
Having spent many holidays in Barbados, none was as sunny, breezy and special as our stay at Serendipity. On the East Side of the island, and far away from any commercial enterprises, ones life truly slows down. Sun, sleep, beach, walk, cook, eat, read, repeat. Note for swimming there is Bath Beach close by (otherwise this coast is too rough) as well as a 20 min car ride to the Caribbean side. Listen to birds, insects and the sea during your restful stay.

Serendipity Bay was nothing short of what you can find from the pictures. The views are fantastic and the property very well maintained. Very peaceful location, perfect if you want to avoid the south-/west coast hassle and have easy access to east coast surf spots. Enjoy your breakfast with panoramic views of Atlantic and a nice calming breeze. Amazing!
Car is a must, but that's the case everywhere on the east coast.
We (me, wife and son 8yrs) enjoyed our stay and would/will definitely choose it again. The owners, Alexandra and Geoffrey, were very helpful and care taking, all the best for you guys!
Having previously stayed on the west coast of Barbados we were a little apprehensive about staying on the east coast. We needn't have worried, we spent 10 days at Serendipity where we were able to completely relax and enjoy all that this fantastic property offered including the superb gardens and the wrap around balcony allowing spectacular views of the rugged east coast. We enjoyed the flying fish caught and bought at nearby Tent Bay. The Atlantis Hotel is well worth a visit for its delicious food. Also visit the Bay Tavern at St Martins Bay, enjoy a Banks beer and just chill. There are two local supermarkets nearby which stock every day provisions. We thoroughly recommend Serendipity for a relaxing holiday away from it all that allows your to enjoy Barbados at its best.
An amazing stay at an amazing location. For me and my wife it was the perfect getaway from our regular lives. The tranquility and serenity the property has to offer is second to none. The grounds are expansive and kept beautifully with fruit trees all around the 10 acres of luscious gardens. The interior was the perfect cosy size with all modern outfitting's and a wrap around balcony with panoramic views of the east coast of Barbados was awe inspiring. It was the best way we could have seen Barbados!
Fantastic awe-inspiring views of the Atlantic and scenic vistas abound at this small cottage on the Hill in beautiful Foster Hall section in the Parish of St. John, located on east coast of Barbados. Serene, private and comfortable. We stayed for 9 nights, and every morning we looked forward to see what the skies would bring. Sunning and having drinks and meals on the large expansive patio, while watching rainbows appear, this property is truly magical! The pictures are accurate of the beautifully manicured gardens that surround the cottage. We chose to spend time just "chilling out" and enjoying the views and the feel of the place. There is a small swing in the living area and with the patio doors open, it felt as if you would swing off into the Atlantic Ocean below, a truly fun addition. The bed was very comfortable and with the constant breezes, sleep came easy and was heavenly. We used the outside BBQ to cook fresh seafood caught right from Martins Bay, delicious. The house has security system and is gated so we felt extremely comfortable and safe during our stay. If you are looking for privacy & tranquility stay here! It is conveniently located between Martins Bay and famous surfer beach of Bathsheba which made day trips to any part of the island convenient. A quick scenic 10 minute drive to Bath, the best beach for swimming on the east coast. A visit to the Natural Spring is a must!
We have rented many houses in Barbados and this cottage was the best experience and by far the best value to date. Book it now!
