3 bedroom, two bathroom farmhouse located between Belves & Monpazier.

Le Pradier is a beautifully finished traditional hilltop farmhouse set in 15 acres of pasture and woodland and even boasts a young vineyard. Whether looking for a tranquil hideaway or a base to explore the architectural and cultural delights of the Dordogne, this little corner of paradise is superbly located half way between the stunning Medieval towns of Monpazier and Belvès (both designated "Plus beaux villages de France" - The Most Beautiful Villages of France). Surrounded by rolling hills and copious forests, rich with wildlife, Le Pradier is a place which inspires artists and country-lovers, and satisfies ramblers. For those who love swimming or sunbathing and picnicking by the water, the Dordogne river or Cadouin lake, along with their ‘beaches’, are only a fifteen-minute drive away.

Recently renovated, Le Pradier’s light and airy interior comprises two ensuite bedrooms on the ground floor (one double and one twin), a third bedroom upstairs, a sumptuous living room with a further sofa bed, a modern kitchen and large dining area, along with an additional toilet. Crisp and clean, its design is a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary; a restful home from home.

Situated at the end of its own long private drive, the house and garden is a safe-haven for children to run free and play. And is idyllic for those who love starlit barbecues or eating al fresco, ‘away from the world’ on warm, summer nights.

With an abundance of chateaux, underground caves, museums, day and evening markets, and other tourist attractions, not to mention restaurants, shops and supermarkets, the area caters for everyone. Le Pradier and its milieu is a place to unwind and make happy memories.

About Mr Louis Gibbings

Both Vicki and I run our own companies in a beautiful Devon village, where we grew up and still live. Vicki's business is in promotional merchandise, and I am in the construction industry. Our children, Ellie and Sonny, are in the local middle school and primary school respectively.

Why Mr Louis Gibbings chose Perigord Noir

When Louis and I decided to get married, we were set on having our wedding in the Cotswolds. Then a friend suggested if we loved that corner of England, we should go one step further and check out the Dordogne, a place she called ‘the Cotswolds with cream’. Within hours of landing at Bergerac airport, we knew she was right, and the following summer, we had our wedding here. But the following morning, over a lazy breakfast of croissants and champagne, the ‘why not’ dream kicked in. Why not stay a bit longer in such a beautiful place, instead of leaving at the end of our honeymoon? Why not make it our permanent go-to holiday destination? Then Louis said what I had been thinking, ‘Why not buy a house here?’ I can tell you, visiting over twenty properties, ours was a honeymoon with a difference! A week later we discovered Le Pradier, and fell in love.

What made it even better was our children’s reaction. They love coming to our Dordogne home so much that they even pack their own suitcases, weeks in advance! When we aren’t playing at being tourists, our children make the most of the weather in the summer, and spend hours playing outside or exploring our woods. And with friendly neighbours, we have all integrated into the community. We’ve been here in all the seasons. Each of them brings back childhood memories and has its own wow factor, from Halloween parties in the forest, to the magic of Christmas time ambling through the beautiful local towns and villages, to an early spring, when England is still cold and wet, to the night markets and hot-air balloon rides in summer.

Eventually we will move here permanently, but unfortunately for now, business commitments keep us in England. And that’s why we can share our little piece of heaven with you.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We fell in love with Le Pradier because it felt like a real home, not a holiday-home. Outside, the stone buildings and functional bread oven hint of an old farm and take me back to my childhood. Whilst inside, it has a modern, fresh feel, which Vicki really appreciates. The views are truly ‘countryside’, and we just love pottering around the little vineyard or cooking dinner under the stars.
