The house is located 8.5 kilometres from the medieval towns of Monpazier and Belves, both designated "Plus beaux villages de France" - The Most Beautiful Villages of France.

The bastide of Monpazier founded in 1284 by King Edward I of England and was home to Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard II of England. As well as being the best preserved bastide in the Dordogne, it is considered the most typical example of a bastide in the entire south-west of France

The house is 14 kms from the beautiful Dordogne River where you can canoe down to the medieval village of Lemeuil also listed as "One of the Most Beautiful Villages of France" . We are roughly 15kms from Cadouin Abbey an UNESCO world heritage site.
