We live in Florida, this is our Dublin home. We visit it every year. It is a modern flat (built in 2006) in a very well maintained building. We are 2 blocks from the entrance to Trinity College and you can walk to every major attraction in central Dublin from our flat. The building is located on a side street between Pearse Street and Townsend Street and boasts a roof garden which has views over the rooftops of much of Dublin.

You enter into a wood floor hallway with 2.6 metre (8.5 feet) ceilings - it feels very spacious. All rooms are accessed via this entryway. There are 2 good size bedrooms. The master bedroom has an extremely comfortable USA king size bed with ample wardrobe and drawer space. The master bathroom (en suite) has a shower, toilet and wash basin. The second bedroom (quite large for a European second bedroom) has two large very comfortable single beds and ample wardrobe space. Upon request, these beds can be locked together and, with a topper, provide a second USA king size bed. There is a 35 Euro charge for this. The bedroom has access to the 'front' patio. The second bathroom has a bathtub/shower combination and is also quite spacious. The living room has a 42” LED flat screen TV, a Blu-ray DVD player and a stereo system. A comfortable sofa and an additional chair provides seating for 4 people. There is access to a 'back' patio which overlooks the courtyard. The dining area, with its leather chairs, accommodates 5 people. The kitchen is fully equipped to serve 6 people. It is a 'Bosch' kitchen with an electric oven, stove top and microwave oven. There is a powerful extraction fan over the stove top. The large frost free refrigerator and the dishwasher are 'built in'. There is a separate laundry room with a stacked Miele washer and dryer.

There is free, high speed internet service for your ipads and laptops. SKY satellite TV delivers over 100 channels, several of which are international. There are two mobile phone available for your use.

The 'fifth' person is accommodated via an air mattress in the living room.

The flat is located on the first floor (second by North American definition) of the building. There is a lift (elevator). An intercom service from the flat to the front door allows for remote door opening.

The Luas (tram) service (both the 'red' and the 'green' lines) are a 10 minute walk from the flat. The Dart train station is 2 minutes away. There are several pubs and restaurants within a 2 block walk of the flat and many more within a 4 block walk. Trinity College (home of the book of Kells) and Temple Bar (pubs) are both a 5 minute walk. Grafton Street (shopping) and St Stephen's Green are a 10 minute walk. A 15 - 20 minute walk will get you to the Dublin Castle, St Patrick's Cathedral, Christchurch Cathedral and the GPO building (famous for the 1916 rising). The Garden of Remembrance and the Guinness Factory are a 30 - 35 minutes walk.

Within the flat building (on the ground floor) are several shops and offices, including a small supermarket which is open until 19:00. There is a large Tesco supermarket in Temple Bar - 4 blocks away.

If you plan on renting a car to see the countryside (you do NOT want one in Dublin), please ask us for our recommendations. We also have a parking space in the basement, which is sometimes available at a 12 Euro per day charge, should you bring your car into the city.

Comfortable, cosy flat close to everything
My family of three adults and two children stayed an extended weekend in this flat, and were able to walk easily to the Temple Bar area, as well as across the Liffey. It is also well located for the buses and supermarkets. Furnishings are comfortable, clean and well-maintained; the kitchen is well-equipped. The property owner is responsive and helpful.

The apartment was beautiful, very clean, comfortable but one big issue was hot water supply!
The apartment was superb! elegant, very clean, classy, spacious with very comfortable beds one with ensuite, and 2 bathrooms. Location is in a very quite area minutes walking to the pub, convenience shops, coffee shops and the temple bar is less than 10min on foot. Fully equipped kitchen, dining table, large sofas with good size Tele and balcony’s but you will need to empty your bins on check out to prevent additional charges! We had to shortened our stay in the property as hot water supply was not explained to us properly on how to get it! After our long days spent in the city, I jumped into the shower and wow! there was No hot-water at all! There was an instructions on the manual booklet to switch on boosts to get hot water but these was not working at all! It was a disaster as you will have to shower with cold freezing waters! No hot water also in the kitchen! Therefore you will have to wash your dishes with cold freezing water as well! We had to contact the caretaker of the property to fix the hot water problems. According to the plummer we had to wait 2 hours from turning on the boosters to get hot water and during the day, only 1 shower will be enough to use, plenty of hot water in the evening time but from 3am till 9am only! >>This was not the kind of set-up we are looking for! Also on our first day, the combination key pads at the door entry was a nightmare! It took us almost 30mins to get in and managed the key pad combination correctly, it was very thricky to use! If you get it messed up in the middle then you will need to clear everything up and go back again from the beginning. You will have to free both your hands to use it and the other person will be dictating to your ears the numbers what to press next! ( coz you aren’t allowed to say it loud) there is a combination numbers that you will need to press both buttons together at same time! remember once messed up, you will have to go back again from the beginning. NB! For some reason! there is only limited mobile reception by the door entrance area therefore you will have to print out the door entry instructions before checking-in so that you will not ruin your day! My overall empression of stay in the apartment was unbelievably not happy!!

We enjoyed our stay in Dublin and in the apartment. We found it very central to all the sights we wanted to see. Everything was within walking distance! Unfortunately, there was quite a lot of traffic noise from the street. There is a lot of building going on in the area and maybe some traffic was diverted to Townsend Street which may have had an effect on the noise level. The appartement was very comfortable and lived up to our expectations. We found it a little inconvenient that there was only one fob which meant we had to stay together at all times whhen we left the appartment. Maybe issuing a second fob would be possible for groups of more than 2 persons. All-in all, we would reccommend the apartment to others wishing to visit Dublin

Why they chose this property

The building is very well built, the flats are quite spacious (European definition) and the building is well maintained. Its location could hardly be better - 2 blocks from the main entrance to Trinity College and a 20 minute walk to all of the tourist attractions in central Dublin. It is NOT in the "Grand Canal Dock" area as VRBO indicates - it is in the city centre.

What makes this property unique

If you want to be in central Dublin there are few better locations. We are 2 blocks from the entrance to Trinity College, 4 blocks from Temple Bar and a 20 minute walk will get you to almost all of the tourist attractions that Dublin has to offer.
