Lower Porthmawr & the Roost from Whitesands Beach

Lower porthmawr sits majestically above the internationally acclaimed whitesands beach in the heart of the pembrokeshire national park. The views from the cottage are directly across the irish sea towards ramsey island and are truly spectacular. The cottage has been sympathetically renovated in the traditional pembrokeshire style and following it's completion won the master builders national award. It is only a 3 minute walk to the pembrokeshire coastal path and a 5 minute drive to the cathedral city of st davids. Whitesands roost which sleeps 4, and is next to the cottage, is now available as a separate let, or in conjunction with the cottage.

Owner profile

About the owner
I purchased Lower Porthmawr over 10 years ago and spent a lot of time and devotion updating it to the current traditional, cosy cottage that it is. Following on was the conversion of an outbuilding, which is now known as the Roost. Both properties have been enjoyed by my family since my children were babies, now they are teenagers! I hope that you too will enjoy the cottages as much as we did and still do.

Year purchased: 1999

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The cottages are situated in one of the most amazing locations. They are in South Wales, 1 mile from the smallest city in Wales, which has a beautiful cathedral and an assortment of restaurants, cafes and craft shops. However the highlight of the location is that the cottages sit high on a hill looking directly over the Irish sea and across to Ramsey Island. The whole area, which includes the Pembrokeshire Coastal path - 180 miles - is a national park and therefore pristine. Whitesands Beach, beautiful in it's own right but also delightful for families with it's many rock pools, is also a haven for surfers and swimmers. The coast is home to many seals and the nearby Ramsey Sound hosts porpoise and an abundance of sea life.

Unique benefits of the property
The cottages are only a 5 minute walk from the Whitesands Beach and the coastal path and only a 15 minute walk to an isolated beach inaccessible by car. The views from the coastal path are incredible, whichever direction you walk in. The cottages have a variety of maps and guide books to help you find your way around. If you wish to book with a larger group a 20% discount is given for taking both properties, which stand 20 metres apart. We do take pets on request and the surrounding area is ideal for them, as is the cottage- Lower Porthmawr - garden. When guests have discovered Lower Porthmawr and The Roost, they return time and time again. Try it for yourself and you will see why.
