Spring Time at Penlan Bach

Self contained, purpose built, first floor apartment with stair lift. Two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, separate lavatory, sitting room and kitchen diner. An en-suite shower room will be added to one bedroom for 2008. The kitchen diner opens onto a large balcony and stairs from the balcony lead down to the gardens. Guests can access the river bank from a gate in the garden and we have secure storage for bikes etc. There is a table and chairs on the balcony and deckchairs for the garden. Red kites, buzzards and pheasants are regularly seen from Penlan Bach. The Brecon and Monmouth canal runs through the village 200 yards from the house and the area is rich in local history. Walkers and cyclists are well provided for with paths and trails to suit all abilities. There is pony trekking and sailing at nearby Llangorse and the cathedral town of Brecon is 10 miles away. There are lots of good pubs and restaurants to choose from. Internet access available on request.

Changeover day
Arrival from 4pm and departure by 10am. Changeover is usually Saturday but we are not inflexible. Please phone us.

Notes on accommodation
The property is not suitable for young children( over 5 years only) Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. The property was purpose built and has exceptionally high levels of insulation including double glazing and cavity wall insulation. All rooms have electric panel heaters or fixed heaters.

Accessibility
This property has not been specially adapted for wheelchair users but does have some provision for those of limited mobility. We have a detailed accessibility statement available on request. There is a stair lift to the accommodation, which is on the first floor. Once upstairs all rooms are on the same level.
Outside
The private balcony has table and chairs and overlooks the lawned garden and the wooded river bank. There are extensive views of surrounding hills in every direction. Guests have access to the garden at any time and deckchairs are supplied. There is storage for bikes or other large kit and drying facilities for laundry.
Coast/Beach
The Gower Peninsular is one and a half hours drive from here.
Golf
There is golf at Brecon and Abergavenny. Both about 10 miles away.
Special interest holidays
Penlan Bach lies on the routes of The Beacons Way and The Usk Valley Walk. We can provide daily transport for guests doing these long distance walks to enable them to just take a day pack. Please telephone for further information on this scheme. A small charge for petrol is made for this service.
Travel
Cardiff airport is 1½ hour from here. Car hire is essential as there is no public transport to Llangynidr.
Distances
Crickhowell is 3 miles away, Brecon is 10 miles, Abergavenny is also 10 miles and Hay on Wye is about 15 miles from Llangynidr. Cardiff is 42 miles away and Swansea is 47 miles.
Further details
Llangynidr has a village shop/ post office which opens from 8am to 9.30pm every day of the year. This is 100 yards away. Supermarkets are in Brecon and Abergavenny. Crickhowell, 3 miles away, has banks, butcher, deli, fish and chip shop and chemist. There is an abundance of good restaurants and pubs in the area. Some are within walking distance and others a short car ride away.
