Situated at the foot of the black mountain, Apple cottage is only a matter of 10 minutes drive to find yourself in the magnificent wilderness of the Brecon Beacons national park. Mountain trails, waterfalls and river walks and castles, makes this a very favoured spot for walkers and wild life enthusiasts. The coastal areas of Gower and West Wales are easily accessed. The view from the cottage is of a wide common where horses, cattle and sheep graze all year round. The backdrop to the common is the Black Mountain. Apple cottage has full central heating, constant hot water and an open fire which burns coal or logs or both. The garden to the property is enclosed with patio and lawns and is very colourful and well tended throughout the year. It is secure for both children and pets. The cottage allotment provides complimentary food for visitors who like fresh produce. Parking is immediately outside of the cottage.

Changeover day
Saturday arrival time anytime after 3pm departure time must be no later than 10am.
| Bedrooms: | The upstairs double bedroom is comfortably furnished with one double bed and one single bed. the beds are ready made up for visitors with freshly laundered and ironed linen. Storage space is plentiful with a pine chest of drawers and pine wardrobe. |
| Bathrooms: | Shower room with oil fired electric shower, sink and toilet. A velux window gives this good sized room a real brightness. |
| Kitchen: | To the back of the cottage is the fully fitted and equipped kitchen with French doors leading onto the patio area which is furnished, beyond this is the lawn and flower beds. |
| Living Rooms: | Stepping through the front door into the front room which is furnished with two leather chesterfield chairs and one, two seater leather sofa. The open fire burns both coal and logs. A flat screen TV and digital radio are provided. |
| Other: | There is full central heating and constant hot water included in the price. please note central heating is not turned on during the months between may and mid September. It is on a timer from 7am until 11am and then 4pm until 12midnight. |

Beds are ready made up with clean freshly laundered and ironed bedding. Hand towels, tea towels and shower mat are also provided. The cottage is cleaned to a high standard and is fresh and comfortable. |

Notes on accommodation
The cottage has full central heating and constant hot water. We do provide logs if required at a small cost. The garden is well maintained, and is secure for both children and pets. The patio area has table and chairs and there is a large picnic table on the lawn. Parking is immediately outside of the cottage. The views from the front of the cottage are of a wide common, with the Black Mountain as a backdrop. There is a 24 hour Tesco store 5 miles either side of the cottage, there is a local supermarket at the end of the road as well as Indian and Chinese takeaways. The cottage is set back from the road providing privacy.
Accessibility
The property although adapted for modern living is essentially still a 200 year old stone cottage. Parking is very easy as it is immediately outside, there are approximately 12 stairs to the bedroom.
Outside
The garden is large and well tended. The patio area has large table and chairs and lots of pots with different coloured flowers. The garden comprises of two lawns one to the back and one to the side of the cottage. Flower beds are around the edge. The garden is completely for the use of Apple cottage guests. We have a cottage vegetable patch which we have pleasure in giving complimentary seasonal produce to visitors should they want it. Potatoes, tomatoes, beans cucumber etc.
Coast/Beach
Swansea city is 13 miles away - this is the start of the Gower coast and some of the most beautiful beaches such as Three cliffs and Langland can be reached within an hour. Going in the other direction towards Llanelli, you can be on the millennium path going towards West Wales. Again Amroth is 50 mins drive from there onto Saundersfoot, Tenby, Freshwater East and Pembroke.
Golf
Glanaman golf club is approximately two miles away, there are many golf clubs in a 15 mile radius which can mean either inland or coastal.
Travel
Cardiff Airport is 70 miles away. The Swansea Cork ferry is 13 miles away. Neath rail station is 9 miles away. It is recommended that visitors do have a car in order to explore the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding coastal areas in this very beautiful part of the world.
Distances
Nearest towns are to either side - Ammanford 5 miles, Pontardawe 5 miles. Swansea City 13 miles, Carmarthen 20 miles. The Welsh botanical gardens are 14 miles. There are many lovely Welsh towns and villages such as llandeilo, Llandovery and Llangadog all within a 15 mile radius.
Further details
The cottage provides an excellent and comfortable base from where to explore the Gower and West Wales Coast as well as the riches of the Brecon Beacon national park with its castles, museums and stately homes. A 24 hour Tesco is 5 miles either side of the cottages. A local supermarket is at the end of the road. Shopping in Swansea is excellent, there are a number of cinemas, theatres, and museums as well as plenty of excellent restaurants and bars. Good food and service within the national park is plentiful. In Brynanam just a 5 minute drive away we have our own cinema which has been lovingly restored and resembles the art deco era of cinema design, all the up to date releases can be seen here.
We do accept dogs, but ask that they not be left in the cottage alone and do not get onto furniture or foul the garden. There is an additional charge of £10 per dog per week or £3 per night, that money should be made payable in a separate cheque payable to 'Many Tears' which is a registered charity for abandoned and mistreated dogs.
Booking notes
Weekly bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. We do accept daily bookings with a minimum of two nights. Deposit is required within 5 days of booking, followed by remainder six weeks before arrival.
