It's certainly a picturesque destination, and not just because of its natural surroundings: the area itself boasts a wealth of pretty villages, and it's just a thirty minute drive from Madrid's major attractions. Things to do in Venturada
Located just a short distance from Madrid, there's plenty to see and do when you book apartments in Venturada. Excellent public transport means you can travel to the city when it suits, perusing world-famous museums and art galleries. But Cotos de Monterrey is a beautiful village in the area, and definitely worth a visit: you'll find a Moorish ancient monument here, and there's a wonderful nature reserve on the outskirts. The La Pedriza mountain range is ideal for hiking and climbing, while ski resorts like Navacerrada and Valdesqui are within an hour's drive. Patones is yet another lovely town, boasting a range of traditional restaurants, ancient monuments and churches.

The Church of St. James is the area's finest Romanesque chapel, constructed in the late 12th century. It's considered one of the earliest in Madrid, but has gradually been transformed with both Renaissance and Baroque additions. There are also a number of archaeological sites around Venturada, which include Roman pottery mounds, Muslim tombs, and the remains of an ancient watchtower.
