Our 1,394 square foot wheelchair friendly apartment with a free Wi-Fi internet connection, is in the prize winning 70 acre Bahama Bay Resort on the shore of Lake Davenport. The complex is set in beautiful gardens with palm trees and tropical flowers such as hibiscus magnolia and lantana. The resort boasts 4 swimming pools all with hot spas, 2 club houses a restaurant and several bars and snack bars. For the more energetic there is a walking trail, tennis court, a gym and even a volley ball court on the manmade beach. A kids club is situated near to the main club house, there is a paddling pool with a fountain and all the usual play equipment.

Bedrooms: Master bedroom with king size bed, walk-in wardrobe, en-suite bathroom, TV, and lots of drawers.
Bedroom 2 has twin 3' beds, TV, hanging cupboard, chest of drawers. Door into the 2nd bathroom.
Double sofa bed in the lounge.
Bathrooms: The master en-suite has a WC, excellent walk-in shower, corner bath and his and her's wash basins.
2nd bathroom with WC, bath with shower, wash basin together with a large cupboard which holds all the towels etc.
Kitchen: The kitchen is equipped with ceramic hob with oven, microwave, fridge/freezer with ice dispenser, dishwasher and double sink unit with waste, coffee maker, blender and all the tools, pots and pans, cutlery and crockery that you could wish for.
Utility Room: The separate utility room has a super efficient top loading washing machine, big tumble drier, iron, ironing board vacuum cleaner and cleaning equipment.
Living Rooms: In the dining area you will find a glass topped table set for six with 6 really comfortable dining chairs. The lounge has a huge easy chair, sofa bed and stylish coffee table. An entertainment centre, flat screen TV, a DVD player and CD player.
Other: At the back of the condo is an insect screened patio with a table and chairs. This looks out onto some natural woodland where if you are sharp eyed you may see various birds, squirrels and even the occasional raccoon.

Bath and hand towels are provided. You will find the property fully cleaned when you arrive and it will be cleaned on exit. If you would like the apartment cleaned during your stay the Management Company will be only too pleased to arrange this for you.

Notes on accommodation
The whole complex is child friendly with many things to do for people of all ages and is ideal for families with children and for those of us who want a relaxed, restful stay there is no better place than Bahama Bay. The apartment is fully air-conditioned. The air conditioning unit is reversible and provides heat should that be needed. As it is on the ground floor it is ideal should a member of your party not like stairs.

There is a WiFi internet connection accessible from the apartment. Apart from the restaurant, one of the services we found very useful was the pizza service. It is possible to order one and have it delivered to your door. Welcome facility if you are babysitting!

Accessibility
Our Andros apartment is on the ground floor and is designed to be wheel chair friendly. Both the bathrooms are equipped with extra hand rails to make it easier for those with disabilities. However these are not obtrusive should you not need them. The shower in the master bathroom is also built with our disabled guests in mind.

Outside
The 70 acre gardens are well stocked with sub tropical trees and flowers and landscaped with various man made lakes. Lake Davenport is at the bottom of the estate and has a fishing dock from which you can fish for catfish. The swimming pools are heated in winter and have heated spas and plenty of sun loungers. The nature walk is ideal for those that like to see wild life and wild birds.

Coast/Beach
One of the closest beaches is Clearwater, this is on the Gulf of Mexico. The beach is huge and of fine white sand. From the harbour you can get a cruse on a pirate ship or go out into the bay to go dolphin watching. To get there take the I-4 going west. Allow about one and a half hours driving time. Go east on the I-4 to get to Daytona and Cape Canaveral or east on the 192 to get to Palm Beach, all these are on the Atlantic Coast.

Golf
There are golf courses everywhere, Lorna and I don't play so if you can give me information on this it would much appreciated. We noticed that Polo Park, which you will find on the left had side if you turn right onto the 27 road, now advertises an 18 hole course at very attractive rates.

Special interest holidays
The big attraction in the Orlando area are the Theme Parks. Walt Disney World is just a short drive away and it doesn't take long to get to the others such as Seaworld and Bush Gardens. Arabian nights dinner show is probably the closest of the dinner shows, great horses, horsemanship, a bit of romance and of course you get dinner while you watch. After the show go down to the side of the arena and meet the horses and the stars of the show.

Travel
We recommend using a car if you stay at Bahama Bay. Orlando International Airport is 40-50 minutes drive away, if you use Sanford please allow an extra 20 minutes. Be assured that should you book with us we will provide you with explicit details of how to reach Babama Bay and also many of the restaurants we have enjoyed together with other places of interest.

Distances
Disney World is 7.6 miles. This includes Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney and a few other attractions. The nearest Walmart's is about 2 miles going north along highway 27.
The nearest Publix supermarket is about a mile going south along the 27 and there is another one where you join the 192 on your left hand side. There are branches of Cracker Barrel the gift shop/come restaurant and chemist's shops on both the 27 going south and the 192 as you go towards Disney World.

Further details
Florida is a State with many lakes, a lot of woodland, orange groves, palm trees and wildlife. It is a green and sunny place and of course the entertainments are second to none. It is a holiday destination that has something to offer to everyone.
It is ideal for extended families and three generations are not unusual. If any one in your party has disabilities, not to worry, there always electric wheel chairs at the parks to help you get around.
Driving is easy and car hire need not be expensive. I have hired a Cadillac for three weeks for just £400 (and that's a pretty big car) and petrol is a lot less than England. One or two tips, there are no roundabouts so to change direction on the dual carriageways ease across to the left hand side and do a U turn. Make sure that it is not a place where U turns are forbidden. On the major roads there is no fast lane so choose a lane that suits and stay in it but should you wish to change lanes be aware that other cars and lorries will be overtaking you on both sides. Stop at stop signs, just slowing down is not allowed. You can turn right at a red light but be very careful that the road is clear. If you are following a school bus that stops a stop sign will stick out of the side - do not pass it!
