Laurel River Retreat is situated in a large undeveloped forest, on a hill overlooking the the scenic Laurel River. The beautiful Laurel trail runs right in front along the river. Enjoy fishing, rafting and hiking the nearby trails including the famous Appalachian Trail (AT). Fully supplied for all seasons. Bring your clothes and personal items. The house is equipped with satellite TV, DVD, videotape player, telephone and fax machine. The large wood deck on the front overlooks the river. A spacious screened porch and two stone patios offer other beautiful settings. Fireplace, electric heat and well insulated windows for the colder months. Ceiling fans and window breezes in spring and summer. No other residence for .5 miles yet quick access to nearby towns and sites. For those who enjoy nature, serenity and to explore the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. For 10 years, Laurel River Retreat has hosted families, friends and groups.

Notes on accommodation
Laurel River Retreat is enjoyed by children of all ages as well as adults. It has hosted gatherings of friends and families, small clubs, romantic couples and parents with children. It is comfortable for a couple but offers adequate sleeping areas and private setting for a group of eight.
The weather at Laurel River Retreat is mild. It is cooled in the summer by mountain elevation, the river and tree canopy. The area enjoys occasional snow falls from December to February, but seldom has a severe cold or significant snow due to its modest elevation. Springtime is ideal for naturalists and bird-watchers as the mountain wild flowers begin to bloom. The autumn offers the famous explosion of colors that bring tourists from all over the world.
Accessibility
There is a 12 step outside stairway to enter the house and there is a stairway to the second floor inside.
Outside
Laurel River Retreat is canopied by trees. A gravel driveway leads up the hill from the river to the house.
Spectacular large wood deck nearly 30 feet off the ground overlooks the Laurel River.
Stone patio on east side has fire pit, table and chairs and ground floor access to art/play area. Behind the house is natural forest.
The house is private and secluded in a spectacular natural setting.
Golf
There are many golf courses in the Asheville area, about a 40-minute drive from Laurel River Retreat.
Skiing
Nearby skiing is at Wolf Laurel.
