Outside
A newly built 28ft heated and screened swimming pool (completed January 2006) adjoins the decking which has the hot tub/spa overlooking Otter Creek, which has unrestricted deep water direct access to Homosassa River and the Gulf of Mexico. The house is situated on a tree'd double lot in a quiet Cul de Sac with extensive parking to the front and Otter Creek to the rear. Huge screened lanai with large variety of furniture giving further seating area sheltered from the sun. Double kayak available for our guests use.
Coast/Beach
Fort Island beach is 20 minutes drive to the North through a scenic winding road with saw-grass environment and in season the beach is supervised. Features WC's and shops. Pine Island beach is 30 minutes drive South and is again supervised in season with all facilities. Bathing is available from boats in the sparkling Homosassa River. Rainbow Springs is a swimming experience approx 45 mins drive to the North and there are many inexpensive boat, canoe and kayak hire companies in the area.
Golf
There are many fabulous golf courses all within 10 miles. All standards and prices covered.
Travel
Tampa airport is the nearest and easiest international airport being 1 hour drive along the newly completed and little used Suncoast Parkway ($4 toll). Orlando is 1½ hours away.
Distances
There are many restaurants within easy reach of the property. Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park (5 minute drive) is a must-see attraction with manatees and other native Florida animals. Busch Gardens, voted No.2 Theme Park in the world with all its attractions is 1 hour drive away at Tampa. Orlando, which has all the Disney and Universal Theme Parks is approx a 1½ hours drive.
Further details
The area is a delight for all nature lovers with extensive boating, fishing and 10 golf courses within easy driving distances. Old Homosassa is a preservation area with restricted development and so still has a lot of the charm but is still only 5 minutes drive from the local large supermarkets and shops, with Crystal River Mall containing Sears, Penny's and Belk. There is also a multi-screen cinema complex at the mall, which is a 20 minute drive.
