Anna Maria Island is linked to the mainland by two bridges. Being a preservation area there are no high rise buildings or fast food chains. It is just like stepping back in time with two piers a walk away from our home where you can hire a rod for a few dollars. Situated on the water we enjoy sitting in the covered Lanai and watching the wildlife with a drink in the evening or a cup of tea in the morning! We have bikes in the garage to use and a ride up to the beach at ‘Bean Point’ to watch the sun go down with a stop at the deli for coffee and a muffin is a must.

Changeover day

Notes on accommodation
The King master bedroom has a sliding door into the lanai. There is nothing better than having a lazy breakfast here listening to the birds before heading off to the beach.
Accessibility
The house is on ground floor level with no stairs.
Outside
The garden at Pelican Drive is mature and pretty with flowering shrubs and even our own lime and lemon trees. The decking around the pool provides ample space for sun loungers, chairs and table. The pool is kidney shaped with a maximum depth of 5 feet and the shallow end at 3 feet depth. We have night lighting in the pool, on the deck and by the boat dock.
Coast/Beach
As the island is surrounded by beautiful white beaches you can choose which direction to go. The nearest is Anna Maria City Beach on Tampa Bay just a 2 minute walk away. Close by we have '2 Scoops' Ice Cream parlour and Anna Maria City Pier.
A 3 minute drive takes you to the Beach at Bean Point where the beach curves around the tip of the island. The long stretch of beach on the Gulf Of Mexico is reached by car in 3 minutes.
Golf
There is a 9 hole golf course on the island at Key Royale with a selection of other courses off the island with the nearest being 20 minutes dirve by car.
Travel
Sarasota Airport 30 minutes drive. Tampa International Airport 1 hour drive. Orland Interntational Airport 2 hours 15 minutes drive.
Distances
Long Boat Key is linked to Anna Maria Island and takes 18 minutes by car. From here you can carry on until you reach Sarasota`s Armand Circle in another 5 minutes. Here you can visit the famous Ringling Museum and if you are interested the Classic Cars Museum is well worth a visit.
Further details
On the island there is one Publix Supermarket and we have a General Store local to the house. Some highly recommended restaurants are the Sandbar situated on the beach, The Sign of The Mermaid, The Waterfront, Rotten Ralph`s for great fish & chips, The Beach Bistro for that special occasion and breakfast on the Road and Reel Pier whilst watching the dolphins swim is a real treat.
Booking notes
Security deposit required to make a reservation £250. Deposit refunded after rental to ensure the house is kept in excellent condition. Full amount payable 60 days in advance.

I love to travel and after visiting Florida for the first time 25 years ago it continues to be our favourite destination.
Apart from travel my hobbies include walking, skiing, reading, interior design and generally socialising with family and friends.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We decided to buy a home on Anna Maria Island during our first visit over Christmas 2004. The first evening we dined at The Sandbar and were completely bowled over with the location right on the beach. From where we are situated we enjoy riding our bikes to the beaches, the quaint coffee shops and local restaurants. The roads are very quiet and safe for children to ride their and play. The northern tip of the island is very quiet and relaxing, on the other hand in just 20 minutes I can be shopping in the Desota Mall or in just under 1 hour visit the International Mall, Tampa for the larger department stores and designer boutiques. We have travelled to many Countries and stayed in beautiful hotels but we always prefer to return to Florida and the hidden gem Anna Maria Island.
Unique benefits of the property
Our home is on ground level and is extremely spacious. The separate lounge areas provide space and comfort and is ideal for 2 families to enjoy but not feel on top of each other! The new Queen Master bedroom is located by the kitchen and lounge overlooking the pool. In a morning you can make a cup of tea without waking everyone else and either sit in the sun lounge or outside in the lanai, a few steps away. The other side of the house is the King Master with a large walk in wardrobe and has a sliding door into the Lanai. Dining is easy with the choice of eating inside or in the Lanai the choice is yours!
