Punta del Este in Uruguay has been a popular holiday destination with Argentinians and Brazilians for years. In the last few years, Americans, Canadians and, most recently, Europeans have begun to discover the delights of this unique resort. Unspoilt beaches that stretch for miles, beautiful lakes and countryside, classy restaurants, bars and people. A world away from over developed Mediterranean resorts. Our house, La Bacana is a large open-plan wooden built house in an area of Punta del Este called Rincon del Indio. It is on a quiet and very safe residential street in an area of equally stunning and individual properties, yet only 4 minutes walk to Brava beach on the Atlantic coastline. Ideally located between Punta del Este peninsula and La Barra, it is the perfect rental property for couples, groups and families alike, with everything you need within a short walk or drive.

Notes on accommodation
The house is very open and airy with high ceilings and lots of windows. For this reason, it keep very cool in the summer (December - March) and warm in the winter.
Enclosed back garden and large front garden. On a quiet road, very safe for children.
Accessibility
Although not designed or adapted for wheelchair users, the house would be suitable for the disabled, infirm or elderly as it has the advantage of a ground floor bedroom and separate bathroom.

Outside terrace directly out from lounge with large dining table + 9 chairs. Brick built barbecue (parrilla) with grate, work surface and sink.

Coast/Beach
Rincon del Indio, the area of Punta del Este where our house is located, is on the Brava beach side (Atlantic coast). The local beach, Playa la Draga, is just at the end of our road, only 3 minutes walk from the house.
The beaches in Punta del Este are sandy and duney, many having raised boardwalks.
Golf
Cantegril Country Club Golf Course is a 5 minute drive away.
Travel
The local airport is Laguna del Sauce, about 20 km drive from La Bacana. It has direct flights to Buenos Aires (Argentina), Sao Paulo & Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), with most frequent services in the Uruguayan summer which is December to March.
Alternatively, Carrasco Airport in Montevideo (Uruguay's capital) is about 130 km drive (just over an hour by car). Direct international flights to Madrid with either Iberia or Pluna (Uruguay's national airline).
Car hire is recommended.

Punta del Este peninsula for designer shops, bars, restaurants, night clubs, casinos - 4 km.
La Barra for trendy bars, restaurants, lively nightlife with the young crowd - 3 km.
Jose Ignacio, small & exclusive resort favoured by the jet set, fashionistas, models and celebrities - 20 km.
Punta Ballena - Casa Pueblo, home to Uruguay's most famous living artist, Carlos Paez Vilaro - 15 km.
Further details
Punta Shopping Mall on Avenida Roosevelt for a wide variety of shops, large supermarket (Tienda Inglesa), 12 screen cinema (with English language films), International call centre and Internet Cafe, restaurants, cafes and, of course, Macdonalds - 2 km.
Local grocery market just 4 blocks away.
Tennis club within walking distance and Cantegril Golf Course about 5 minutes by car.
The peninsula of Punta del Este has a wide variety of cafes, bars and restaurants and an excellent selection of shops for designer clothes, souvenirs, local produce, handicraft market, etc.
A visit to Casa Pueblo in Punta Ballena is a must. It is the museum/gallery and home of Uruguay's most famous living artist and local celebrity, Carlos Paez Vilaro, now in his 80's.
The Casa is built into the side of a hill and faces west overlooking the stunning bay of Punta Ballena. People gather on the balcony terrace at sunset to watch the sun disappear into the sea. It is truly spectacular.

30% deposit secures dates. Balance paid 4 wks prior to departure or in cash in $US on arrival upon key collection.
Long term lets considered.
200 euros damage/extra services deposit required.
