Location, location, location.... regular visitors to Kalkan will know that location is everything - and these apartments are superbly located... a mere 5 mins walk to the restaurants, shops and bars of Kalkan. No need to hire a car, pay for costly taxis or wear yourselves out climbing up a steep, unlit hill after a night in the town. Whether you are looking for a quiet romantic bolt-hole for a couple, or several apartments for a larger group of up to 16 people, we have the accommodation to suit you. Set in a small private block, next to the well-known Nur Hotel, our apartments offer the best of both worlds; all the privacy and convenience of self-catering apartments, but with the facilities of a hotel on tap if you need them (including free wi-fi access). On top of all this, these apartments have the huge bonus of one of the largest private pools in Kalkan (measuring 10m by 9m) - amazing for just six apartments to share!

Listed prices are based on apartment cost for 2 people (Sunrise, Sunset and Moonlight) or 4 people (Daybreak). A self contained garden studio apartment, set apart from the main apartment block, with twin beds, separate wc/bath/shower room and a small kitchenette, ideal for preparing breakfast, tea/coffee or snacks.
Air-conditioned and well-equipped, this charming, cosy and welcoming unit is perfect for a couple wanting to get away from it all at relatively low cost. You can sit and read or sunbathe on the secluded garden terrace, or join the other apartment guests by the pool - it's entirely up to you! As with the Sunrise, Sunset and Daybreak apartments, the Moonlight studio is cleaned daily and ample towels and linen are provided; changed every 3-4 days. Additional laundry service available on request. There is also a small hairdryer in the studio.

Light, spacious and airy apartment on top (2nd) floor of block. Daybreak is extremely versatile; ideal for two couples sharing or family groups. Two air-conditioning units. 2 double bedrooms, each with its own en-suite wc/shower room. Main living area consists of lounge area with 2 x large sofa-beds, and kitchen/diner with dining table and 6 chairs. Kitchen/dining area has all you need for a comfortable stay including oven & hob, washing machine, fridge with freezer section, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board. Daybreak has 2 large balconies: Balcony one (mountain, sea and pool views) gets the sun in the morning; Balcony 2 (sea and garden views) gets the sun in the evening! Great for a leisurely breakfast, or a quiet pre-dinner drink at sunset. Ample towels and linen provided. Apartment cleaned daily, towels and linen are changed every 3/4 days. Cot/highchair available on request. Drying rack and small hairdryer also provided.

 

Notes on accommodation
Kalkan is perfect for couples and small families but Daybreak, Sunrise and Sunset apartments and Moonlight studio may be booked in any combination - making a total sleeping capacity of up to 16. Larger groups (eg wedding parties) could possibly be accommodated by booking one or both of the other two apartments in the block (depending upon availability - we will be happy to arrange this for you by liaising with the other two apartment owners). Please contact us to discuss pricing and availability. All the apartments are fully air-conditioned. Cleaning and pool maintenance is undertaken daily, to a very high standard. Guests are also welcome to use all the facilities of the neighbouring Nur Hotel, including another pool, rooftop terrace, poolside bar and indoor lounge bar, breakfast and lunchtime snack facilities, plus free wi-fi access.

Accessibility
Not really suitable for wheelchair users, as access is only via steps.

Outside
NO fighting over sunbeds here... the magnificent pool is more than large enough to accommodate everyone in the small block, even if it's full. Sunrise and Sunset apartments each have large balconies and 4 allocated sun loungers (with parasol) on the large pool terrace. Daybreak has 2 sunny balconies and is also allocated 6 sun loungers (with parasol) by the pool. Moonlight studio has a large terrace and a garden area, and is allocated 2 sunbeds and parasol by the pool. Cleaning and maintenance is provided by the friendly and helpful staff of the Hotel Nur next door; our large shared pool is private from the hotel, but our apartment/studio guests are also welcome to use the hotel's facilities including the friendly poolside bar (by the hotel's own separate pool) and their rooftop breakfast terrace with breathtaking views over Kalkan and the sea. Truly, the best of both worlds!

Coast/Beach
Kalkan's small shingle and pebble beach is only 10 mins walk from the apartment and there are several beach clubs with bathing platforms and excellent water sports facilities in and around Kalkan. The spectacular 7 mile long beach at Patara is accessible by road or boat and is only 15 mins away by bus (dolmus - leaving from the bus station which is a 1 minute walk from the apartment!), while the secluded sandy beach at Kaputas is only 10 mins by road - fantastic scenery on the way too!

Golf
The nearest golf course is at Sarigerme, about 90 mins by road.

Special interest holidays
Food: Kalkan is a veritable gourmet paradise! Varied and high quality menus for all tastes, always made with fresh local produce. The only problem is choosing which of the amazing restaurants to try; we have been holidaying here for several years and still haven't sampled all of them! Historical interest: Xanthos, Patara, Kekova, Saklikent, Pamukkale, the list goes on. Various civilisations have left their mark on this area over the centuries - Greek, Roman, Lycian, Ottoman. Walking: trekking the Lycian Way is a very popular activity for the more active holidaymaker, there are numerous sites of great historical importance and general interest along the coastline. We will be pleased to put you in touch with some of the organisers of these walks. Diving and watersports: PADI diving club/school in Kalkan bay and various beach clubs, catering for a variety of watersports including waterskiing and jetskiing. Or, of course, just chill out with a cool drink and sunbathe!

Travel
Dalaman airport, now open all year, is about 90 mins away by private taxi transfer - currently around £60 each way for 2 people. Car hire is readily available (but not really needed for guests at this apartment as you can walk into Kalkan in 5 mins). If you want to go further afield, the dolmus is always a good bet, but if you want a taxi or really do want to hire a car while you're here, there is a hire car company one minute away!

Distances
Supermarket, banks, restaurants, 1-2 mins walk. Pharmacy and doctor, boutiques, etc 5 mins walk. Kas 25 mins by road (spectacular scenery on route). Fethiye/Olu Deniz 45 mins by road. Kalkan is on the Lycian Coast with many fascinating places of historical interest nearby, including Saklikent Gorge, the sunken city of Keklova, the Lycian Tombs and the ruins at Xanthos, all within easy reach by road.

Further details
Kalkan is a friendly, relaxing place for the discerning visitor with an amazing number of superb restaurants crammed into its maze of cobbled streets, many with rooftop terraces and views over the beautiful harbour. If kiss-me-quick hats and brawling lager louts are your thing, this is not the place for you; it's warm, friendly and vibrant in the evenings but never brash.

Non-returnable deposit on booking. (20% of total, minimum £50 Moonlight, £100 Sunrise/Sunset, £150 Daybreak). Balance payable 6 weeks before departure. Refundable security deposit of £50 payable with balance payment (to cover breakages, etc - this will be refunded immediately on your return, after clearance from our local agent). Payment by cheque, bank transfer or credit/debit card via PayPal secure payment (no Paypal account necessary, just a valid credit or debit card).

About the owner
Hi! We are Martyn and Fiona Ellis and we have been letting out our apartments in Kalkan since 2006 under the banner 'Kalkan Secrets.' We'd both love to be able to retire - to Kalkan, of course - but we can't do so just yet. Simple equation: Kids Not Off Our Hands Yet + Both Divorced Twice Before = Too Poor To Retire! They say that a divorce puts you back 10 years financially... on that basis we're both still in our early thirties (yeah, right!) so no prospect of retirement anytime soon! Meanwhile, although we get to Kalkan whenever we can - UK work commitments permitting - we want others to enjoy our "Kalkan Secrets" too. If you don't already know Kalkan, a stay in one of our apartments is the perfect way to sample that Kalkan magic! If you do know Kalkan - you know what we mean!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We first came to Kalkan on honeymoon in 2004 and stayed at the Samira Hotel. We just fell in love with the town and, above all, its people. So much so that we booked to return the following year - but this time decided we had to take the plunge and buy our own little piece of paradise! We knew we would have rent it out in order to cover our costs. So then came the difficult decisions: Villa or apartment? In the town, or up the hill? What about Kalamar and Kisla? In the end, the choice was relatively easy. Arif, our agent, showed us the apartments that Baris was selling off from the Hotel Nur and, once we saw Apartment 303 (we now call it 'Sunrise'), we knew that was the one. Great location; fantastic pool; easy to let and manage; 24/7 security; what more could we need?

Unique benefits of the property
We started with Sunrise in 2005, adding Sunset & Moonlight in 2009 and have just acquired "Daybreak" - the 2-bedroom penthouse of the block. From day one, our guests seemed to love staying there as much as we did - many of them becoming regulars! The main selling point of our apartments has to be the magnificent pool. At 10m x 9m it's simply huge for just six apartments and, because of our cleaning and maintenance arrangement with the neighbouring Nur Hotel, it's kept spotlessly clean on a daily basis. The next advantage is the location. It's just so convenient: close to the town, without being noisy, right next to the major banks, the supermarket, the Thursday market and several restaurants and bars close by. And the main town is a genuine five minutes walk away: taxis not required!
