About the area
Dalyan is best known for its lush greenery, the winding river and a beach which is not just a natural wonder but also won The Times Best Open Space Award in 2010. Over 6km of golden sands with access by bus, car and boat there are cafeterias at either end for refreshments but plenty of empty space amongst the dunes to escape to.
Special Interest Holidays
There is an amazing range of habitats in the local area; from the reed beds north of the town to the Koycegiz Lake. With many species of birds, from White Tailed Eagles to Red-rumped swallows, expert birders and amateurs would struggle not to have a great birding holiday. We can organise guided walking tours through areas. We manage perfect accommodation for large groups throughout the year, that are great for comfortable relaxation when not out in the wilderness.
Walking groups taking international excursions are aware of the amazing possibilities available to walkers and ramblers in and around Dalyan, Turkey. There are a number of great walks to be done in the local area; from the walk up to Candir and Kaunos over stunning mountains and rock tombs, to the Liquid Amber Fosrets of Dalyan. The Famous Lykian Way walk of 300+km across the southern coast of Turkey, is a trekking holiday for the hardcore (especially in the summer).
How to get there
The nearest airport is Dalaman which is a 20 minutes drive away. Once in Dalyan car hire is not essential we are very central to town and town itself is small and everything in easy walking distance.
Everything is within walking or cycling distance in Dalyan. This villa is only a 2 minute walk to the nearest supermarket, and it is the same distance to local restaurants, bars and cafes and the river. Fethiye and Olu Deniz are 50 minutes drive away. Marmaris is about 75 minutes drive. Both of those towns also have ferries to Rhodes.
Dalyan town itself is compact stretching only a mile in any direction from the centre and is framed by a glorious backdrop of pine clad mountains in every direction. The flatness of town make it a perfect place for walking with children and the elderly and a delight to cycle around. For more active holidaymakers there are forests and hiking hills all within walking distance. Dalyan is also distinguished by the lack of package tourists though there are still plenty of bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes. If you canít find the items you want in the shops there is a sweet local market on Saturdays.

"Home from home"
We are regular Dalyan visitors and have stayed in a variety of different villas over the last 7 years as we search for the neighbourhood that we would like to retire to. To be fair all the villas and bungalows that we have stayed in (apart from one unfortunate experience on our first visit) have been top class with great, approachable owners, supportive management companies and smashing accommodation. I was a little hesitant about Villa Poppy, only because I couldnt see a lot of photos and there were no reviews on the internet. However, I took a calculated risk as I knew the area well & one of my friends went had a look for me. I am so glad that we chose Villa Poppy. It suited our needs perfectly, we stayed there for three weeks with friends and family. Everyone loved Villa Poppy and everyone had their own favourite part, whether it was the magnificent Kosk in the garden, the lovely 'outdoor living area' complete with lounge furniture, table and chairs and BBQ, the chill out area upstairs or the pool. You can tell that Villa Poppy was a much loved full-time home rather than a purpose built rental - it has a lot of character and is really good quality with everything you can think of. The only negative for us was lack of wifi (they can supply a dongle but that wasnt compatible with our devices) but almost every bar and restaurant in Dalyan now offers free wifi so that was hardly a hardship & to some people that would be a preference! Dalyan is fantastic, a really friendly, hospitable place to enjoy a holiday and Villa Poppy is a great base to explore....or just chill. The villa is 2 mins from Maras park (where children can play, basketball court, oudoor gym and running track) and only 5 mins walk to the top of Dalyan 'high street' - where you have a number of bars, restaurants and shops (you cant hear any noise at the villa though). The nearest supermarket Sevikoglu is only 4 mins walk and stocks everything you should need. There is fantastic bakery just the otherside of the Maras park. There is a water machine in the villa that holds a massive water carrier and keep it chilled & replacements arrived literally 5 mins after we phoned! I would definately recommend Villa Poppy - although I am slightly hesitant to as we want to rent it again next June & I dont want it to be booked up!! Smashing villa which was the first that we had stayed in that truly felt like a home and let us imagine what it would be like to live in Dalyan - we loved it and will be back!
Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing and families with teenagers
