Aurora is located in a quiet residential area overlooking a small secluded bay, the area is a favourite with the wealthy from Istanbul for their summer homes. All rooms have seaviews some with triple aspect. There is a covered and uncovered terrace. Aurora boasts a Turkish style gazebo, situated next to the pool fitted out with big plump cushions, curtains and mats, ideal for relaxing in to while away balmy evenings with a cool drink. There is a local market (shop)within 5mins walk, the village and bay are 10mins walk. There are a few restaurants/bars and small hotels, mostly serving Turkish cuisine, not much English is spoken here making it ideal for those wishing to practice their Turkish. Gundogan is less than 10mins drive, this is larger, boasting more shops and a supermarket, the busy seafront has many yachts and boats for hire, and a wide variety of restaurants/bars serving local and International food,(sorry, no Sunday roasts, or Fish & Chips) a little English is spoken here.

Changeover day
There is some flexibility here although Aurora is contracted to Thompsons tour operators. Arrival after 4pm, departure by 10am. keys will be sent two weeks before departure, with directions.

Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels, linen and pool towels are included, Aurora is cleaned before arrival. Two week stays have a mini clean and towel/linen change at the end of first week, extra cleaning can be arranged and paid for locally. The gardener keeps the pool crystal clear.

 

Notes on accommodation
All bedrooms have air conditioning, many windows have mosquito nets for those who like to leave a window open. It is built over three floors, so is not suitable for wheel chairs, or people with walking problems, There is central heating fired by diesel, this heats all radiators and towel rails, this is not included in the price, there is a portable calor gas heater.

Accessibility
The villa is hidden from the road by large stone built walls. Front access is by 12 stone steps. There is a bedroom with ensuite facilities next to the front door. The lower level can be accessed by a set of wrought iron steps located outside the kitchen near the bathroom. The lower ground floor double bedroom opens onto the garden and pool. Aurora would not be suitable for guests with severe walking difficulties, unless they were able to manage the stairs.

Outside
The private pool is 8mx4m fully tiled and illuminated at night, to make evening dining alfresco an enjoyable holiday experience. There are 8 sun bed with mattresses. A large oval glass topped aluminum table with eight matching chairs with pads on the upper uncovered terrace, a further white table and four white chairs are located next to the outdoor turkish gazebo. There is a drinks trolley and small tables, to match, the perimeter of the pool is fulled tiled, the gardens are newly planted with grass, and many different plants, including Banana, Hibiscus. Aurora features in the Thompson Simply brochure, it has also been featured in Place in the Sun magazine, and on RealEstate TV. Many guests are returning renters. The views from the garden/pool and terraces are simply stunning. There is a small marina just below the property. En route to it there is a children's playground, in summer a small bar(!!) is open. No English spoken here, this is very local.

Coast/Beach
The secluded bay of Kucukbuk is 10mins walk, about .5 km, by car 2mins. This is also the local village, parking is no problem. There is also a small taxi rank, if you don't fancy the walk back. Gundogan beach is 5mins by car. The local Dolmus (bus) stops near the house, this will take you to Kucukbuk & Gundogan, where you can change for Bodrum. Turkbuku where the Turkish footballers have homes is 10mins drive. The fishing village of Gumusluk is 40mins drive. Yalilkalvak is 15mins by car.

Travel
Milas International Airport is 50mins by car. Bodrum is 30mins by car, here you can get the ferry to Kos for the day, or just stroll round the marina, and commercial port. Izimir where the cruise ships come in also has an International Airport serviced daily by BA and Turkish Airlines. It is 2.5-3hrs drive. Car hire is recommended the owners can help with this, also flights etc.

Distances
Kucukbuk village is .5km. Gundogan is 3km, Bodrum 20km, Yalikalvak,12km. The new golf course is approx 55km on the way to the airport, Kos ferry takes approx 1.5hr. The resort of Altinkum, where the famous temple of Apollo is sited is 2hrs drive, you can also get a ferry from nearby Torba to there. Torba is 30mins drive. Ephesus and Pamukkale are approx 4hrs, this can be done as a tour, Dalyan and Fethiye are approx 4hrs drive. The Peninsula has many delightful beaches away from the tourists.

Further details
This is the 3rd year that Aurora has been in the Thompsons Simply brochure, it has also featured on Real Estate TV, and been in Place in the Sun magazine. Gundogan has 4 ATM's, and one bank. All the bars/restaurants accept ytl and Euros. The local market (shop) 5 mins walk, is situated on a large Turkish residential complex, you can get, water, bread, vegetables, eggs etc. Gundogan has a Migros supermarket and many markets selling bread, water etc. Kippa Supermarket (Tesco) is 25mins drive en route to Bodrum, here you can buy some English brands of food. The largest local restaurant is situated on the beach, this is Kucukbu Restorant aparthotel, food is mainly Turkish, they have a jetty which is laid up with candle lit tables and chairs in the evening. They also lay the beach up with tables and chairs. The Pinar Hotel 100yds along the beach offers some English style food, along with Pide made in the clay oven. The Birdar restaurant at the end of the bay specialises in Fish, here is the best place for sea bass or sea bream, it also has a jetty laid up with candle lit tables. These restaurants are mainly frequented by Turkish holiday makers, and locals. Each season another small bar/restaurant appears. The locals try their hand at enticing visitors in their front gardens for something to eat, take a phrase book as nearly all menus are written in Turkish only. Gundogan is the place to go for water sports, although the Myrina Hotle does have pedaloes on its private beach, and seem not to mind other holiday makers taking advantage of them, it also has tennis courts. For a sunset view the 'Limon' restaurant near Gumushluk cannot be beaten, the drive is 40mins and very worth a trip. It is open air, overlooking Rabbit island, the seating is low Turkish style, cascading down the hill slopes towards the sea, the Olive trees have crystals swaying in the breeze, and the Sun setting over Rabbit island is breathtaking.

Booking notes
A non returnable deposit of £100 per week booked is payable on confirmation of booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before departure date. A refundable deposit of £100 per week is payable at this time. The deposit will be returned within 7-14 days after checks by the agents that the villa was left in good order, not withstanding small breakages. Flights and car hire can be arranged by the owner who is a Travel Counsellor. Any extras such as welcome packs can be arranged and paid for locally.
