Stop and try a "gozlem" Turkish pancake with spicy or sweet fillings. Try a "tost" (spicy sausage and cheese toasty) and fresh fruit juice on the Marina. Book a boat trip around the stunning coast or take a coach trip to the many famous historic ruins. Try Hisaronu with its nightlife or Oludeniz lagoon supposedly the most photographed beach in the world with its unbelievable views and crystal clear water. Gocek with its stunning marina and quaint shops and Karagozler for its views. There is a small waterpark in Calis and also one in Hisaronu, everywhere is easily accessable using the local cheap "dolmus" (minibus) which runs every few mins.

Notes on accommodation
All the apartments have full air conditioning / heating. The area is flat for anyone with walking difficulties and the pool is suitable for children but does not have a lifeguard so supervision is necessary.
Outside
Large communal pool, outside sun loungers provided. Nice peaceful gardens.
Coast/Beach
Calis beach and promenade is a 500 metre flat walk, the nearest supermarket is 300 metres. Calis has a dark sand and shingle beach some 4 km long. It has cooling sea breezes in the summer and is popular with windsurfers. Calis promenade has numerous restaurants, cafes and bars which are popular in the evenings to sit and watch the famous Calis sunsets and the marina lights of Fethiye. Calis is surrounded by mountains for a wonderful backdrop to the sea.
Travel
Dalaman is the nearest airport and is open all year with more airlines flying in every year and is 40 km away. A new tunnel under the mountain by Gocek has cut travel time to 35 mins.
Car hire is not necessary and transfers can be arranged £35 each way for up to 3 people and £55 each way for a mini bus. Once you have used the local cheap transport system you will find traveling easy. Car hire will allow more independance and this also can be arranged £22 per day.
Distances
Fethiye is a flat 4 km from Calis and we have walked this regularly although not recommended in the height of summer.
Hisaronu with its streets of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and shops is about 4 km from Fethiye. 3 km down the hill from Hisaronu is Oludeniz with its Lagoon and national park surrounded by mountains. Other destinations are Karagozler just round the bay from Fethiye, Gocek 8 km for its stunning marina and Kalkan and Kas an hour away by car or coach from Fethiye bus station.
Further details
Shops will accept sterling but there are many change offices wherever you are. Major credit cards are accepted in most stores and restaurants there are many cash points. Although there are numerous supermarkets and shops in the area Fethiye boasts several large European style supermarkets Gima, Azda and Migros plus others Fethiye has an area of old style shops called the pasporter where you can browse for everything from pottery to gold jewellry, many shady restaurants and cafes abound for lunch. If you like fresh fish then ask for the fish market, here you will find an area where fish are sold direct from Fethiye fishermen. Surrounding this market are speciality fish restaurants. To make it special go in the daytime find a restaurant you like and get a waiter to go with you to the fish stall and pick your own fish, these will then be cooked for a few lira with you just paying for the side dishes when you go back in the evening. Everyone speaks English so communication is easy in the Fethiye area. The Tuesday market can take all day to wander around, you can buy just about everything there, take your time and enjoy a meal and drink in the food areas, try a gozlem Turkish pancake either spicy or sweet and fresh orange juice. Fethiye has numerous bars, restaurants and clubs, and the marina is a wonderful place to walk in the evening and take a drink or meal on the waterfront. In the daytime near the blue cultural building on the marina you will see a stall selling fresh fruit drinks, try a tost spicy sausage and cheese toasty and a mixed fruit drink, you will be back for more! The local beer is efes and is a nice cooling drink, well with an average of just 2 rainy days between June and September you need to get water from somewhere! From the marina try some of the many boat trips going to the many islands and hidden bays that adorn the Turquoise coast, they will even pick you up from the apartment.
