Notes on accommodation
There are 2 sunbeds (with cushions) available for your use. A welcome pack will be provided and you will have a local representative to help you with anything during your stay. Please bring your own beach towels. This is a no smoking apartment.

Accessibility
Whilst Kalkan is not ideal for pushchairs/wheelchairs, this first floor apartment has the advantage of street level access.

Outside
Five shared pools set in the well maintained gardens of the complex with plenty of room for sunbathing. Sunbeds provided.

Coast/Beach
5 mins walk to Kalkan Harbour and beach. There are also several excellent beach clubs in the local area. Patara beach, a world heritage site, famous for its 18km of white sand and clear water is 25 mins away by car/dolmus.

Special interest holidays
Kalkan is set in the ancient 'Lycian' region. There are numerous local (Kalkan) tour agencies that can arrange scuba-diving, sailing and walking tours etc. Happy to help with contacts ahead of your departure.

Travel
Dalaman is the nearest airport approx 1.5 hour away. Taxi/mini-bus (air-con) airport transfers can be arranged for guests. Car hire is not essential in Kalkan as local transport (dolmus) is cheap, plentiful and efficient. All local tourist spots can be accessed by dolmus. However car hire is available in the village if required.

Distances
Apartment to village 5 mins walk. Kalamar Beach Club 15 mins walk / 3 mins taxi. Kaputas beach 15 mins taxi/dolmus. Fetihye 1 hour drive. Saklikent Gorge 45 mins drive.

Further details
Kalkan is a picturesque sleepy village by day that sparkles into life at night, it tumbles down to the harbour, alive with gulets and visiting yachts. With a myriad of rooftop restaurants, you can enjoy the excellent Turkish cuisine and a romantic moonlight view over the Bay. Kalkan’s streets are narrow and twisting but not flat, the architecture reflects the varied history with traditional Greek houses covered in bouganvilla. The village is well appointed with shops and supermarkets who are happy to deliver larger loads. There are English speaking Doctors, Dentists and Pharmacists, plus a new Medical Centre opened in 2008. There are also a number of banks with ATMs and a Post Office within the village for your currency needs. Don't miss the Thursday market where local produce is sold alongside fabulous silver, leather goods and spices.

Booking notes
25% deposit will secure your reservation, balance to be paid in full 8 weeks prior to departure. Price does not include flights, insurance, transfers or car hire. £100 refundable damage deposit to be paid.

I chose 'Meltem Apartment' specifically for it's light and airy layout, great view and above all location. At the top of town - level access to banks/shops/restaurants if you wish (at a premium in Kalkan).
