A modern detached villa with own private pool (7.5m x 3m x 1.6m deep, no fighting for sunbeds), a south facing terrace, air-conditioning and fab views situated in an excellent central, yet quiet, location amidst an olive grove. Only max. 5 minutes walk from the centre of town - nearly all of which is on a paved road (no need for expensive taxis, or mountaineering equipment!) and 30m from a supermarket. Villa Sarì (The Yellow Villa) has been finished to a high standard and has many interesting features including glass block walls and an arrangement of rooms which allows maximum privacy and unrivalled views of the bay from all the rooms. Two double bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms. 3rd single bedroom: all air-conditioned). Separate lounge with large double sofa bed. Fully fitted kitchen diner. Free local telephone calls and wireless broadband. The villa has a fabulous roof terrace. Gardens with fruit trees and flowers surround the villa.

Notes on accommodation
Due to its fairly central location this villa is ideal for those who want both a villa with a pivate pool and a short walk (mainly on the flat) to the shops and restaurants in Kalkan. Our guests tell us that the location is ideal. A car is not necessary which is especially useful as taxis are now expensive in Kalkan. The lounge and bedrooms have air-conditioning. There is a water reserve tank so you should not experience the water stoppages common in Kalkan. The pool is oblong and larger than a plunge pool (7.5 metres long, 3m wide and 1.6m deep)- it has a minimum depth of approx 5ft (1.6 m) and is unfenced so non-swimmers and children will need supervision. Due to the depth of the pool and 6ft drop from one side of the (railinged) terrace the villa is unsuitable for very young children. The town beach is about 10 minutes walk.
Outside
Good sized oblong shaped private pool (7.5 metres long, 3m wide and 1.6m deep) Gardens surround 2 sides of the villa. There is a selection of wooden garden furniture, sun loungers and umbrellas. Roof terrace has table and chairs. Pool and gardens are maintained daily.
Coast/Beach
Kalkan has a small pebbly beach near the harbour but most people go to the beach clubs situated around the bay for swimming, watersports or just to enjoy the bar and restaurant facilities. Nearby Patara beach (15 mins by car/bus)is one of the most spectacular in Europe and the 13 km of protected white sands are home to loggerhead turtles. Kaputas is another sandy beach, 5 minutes by bus/car.
Travel
Kalkan is approx 1 hour 15 -30 mins from Dalaman and 3 hours from Antalya airports. A taxi transfer from Dalaman is cheap, costing approx £50 and £70 from Antalya each way. These can be arranged for you. Within Kalkan taxi costs have risen steeply but the position of the Villa is central and the need for taxis or a hire car is unlikely.
Distances
Kas town is approx 30 km away and Fethyie 1 hour. Other nearby places of interest included Xanthos, Patara, Letoon and Kekova whilst the stunning Saklikent Gorge is also nearby.
Further details
Kalkan is a small sophisticated resort set on the Turkish Mediterranean Riviera. Kalkan has escaped the mass tourism seen elsewhere due to rigorous construction regulations and the lack of a long sandy beach. Many Istanbul restaurateurs have opened here which gives Kalkan a sophistication above average larger Turkish resorts. Kalkan has a post office and bank with ATM. There are many truly excellent (in-expensive) restaurants catering for all tastes. There are good shopping opportunities and a market is held every Thursday. A supermarket is only 30m from the Villa.
Booking notes
Please check availability and contact us with your preferred dates. There is (usually) a minimum price for 7 days but quotes can be given for periods of 5 days and above 7, making a 10 day holiday, for example, a possibility. You will need to book your own flights but taxi transfers and car hire can be arranged if required.
A non–refundable deposit of 20% of the total cost of your accommodation is requested to confirm your booking and the balance is required 4 weeks before you depart.

About the owner
We two hard working professionals have been together for 27 years and live in Surrey. We enjoy travelling and independent holidays. Too old for clubbing and lots of night life,holidays to us are now a mixture of relaxation, some activity, unwinding and experiencing local cultures, good food and drink. We enjoy eating out and Kalkan with its wealth of excellent, high quality and relatively cheap restaurants is ideal for us. We both love swimming and the sea around Kalkan is perfectly safe, clean and beautifully clear. We would not normally have considered buying somewhere we would return to year after year, but cannot envisage wanting to go anywhere else in Europe, other than our Villa in Kalkan, for a seaside holiday.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We went for a week's last minute holiday in Kalkan and fell in love with it. We had a half hearted plan to buy something abroad and looked at many flats and villas during our stay. We chose Villa Sari because of it's excellent location, beautiful views, large private pool and relative seclusion. It's easy to pop in to town without the need of a taxi or car hire both of which are now very expensive (they have risen approx 700% in 6 years) and parking is becoming a problem in summer! Although many of our guests rarely leave the pool, we like the sea. Kalamar beach club, the town and CaretaCKareta are now all less than 10 mins walk away (the new steps to Careta Careta by the Lykia hotel are great). The views are great, especially from the bedrooms and roof terrace.
Unique benefits of the property
We love the convenient location of Villa Sari. We have purposely made the villa very comfortable but impersonal so that our guests can feel it's their home during their stay. We are able to "pop" in to town easily without the need for a car yet it is fairly secluded. There are very few villas so near to town with private pools. The terrace is fairly secluded and we love the size of the pool - most villas only have a square plunge pool. You can actually swim lengths in Villa Sari's pool. We like the modern design and layout and that the kitchen is separate from the lounge - in most properties they are not.
