4 year old apartment in most sort after region of Turkey, just 10 minutes walk from safe, beautiful beaches with amazing Aegean Turquoise sea and every amenity nearby. Boat trips can be arranged from the Harbour -only a few minutes walking distance away. Check out my own boat 'The Siesta'! Nearby is the town centre with various restaurants, bars, local markets, ancient places of interest etc. Most exciting is the newly opened Marina nearby, (biggest in Turkey) and just 10 mins walk from property. The apartment which is built to a very high standard overlooks swimming pools, with large sunbathing terraces including sun loungers. Cafe Bar with full restaurant facilities on site. Main entrance has 24-hour reception, caretakers and site manager. Car rentals, boat trips, excursions, money exchange, all available on site. There is also a laundry and ironing service. Apartment has marble work surfaces, is fully double glazed and has sunken rose coloured spotlights featured in kitchen area.

Changeover day
Changeover can be any day of week, but apartment will not be available on day of arrival until 3.00 pm, and must be vacated by 10.00 am on day of departure.

Notes on accommodation
Apartment is on the 3rd floor. Fully fitted, tiled flooring, and marble work surfaces. Lounge leads onto large terrace with wicker table and 6 chairs (including comfy cushions) and overlooking one of the swimming pools. Ideal for toddlers, with their own paddling pools attached to pools. Apartment is just 10 minutes from safe beaches, and is a haven for children, as water is very shallow (about waist deep on an adult for about 50 yards). Just 8 minutes walk to town centre and Dolphin Square.
There is also a large park and play area on the main entrance to the complex. There is a safety deposit box in the apartment for use of guests. Please note this is a non-smoking apartment.
Please note that all rubbish must be taken out of the property regularly. Unfortunately, there have been a few occasions when the cleaners have found the apartment left with rotting rubbish. This can cause infestatation.
Accessibility
Although apartment is on the third floor, the lift is just outside the apartment door, so is suitable for families with small children and anybody with mobility problems. Outside there are special ramps for wheelchair or pushchair use.
Outside
Complex is situated in beautiful landscaped gardens, and there are two semi-Olympic sized heated pools and two smaller heated pools for children. I have purchased sun loungers for use of my guests, which are clearly numbered and padlocked beside the main pool. Cushions are in apartment, and padlock key just inside front door.
On the good sized terrace of my apartment overlooking one of the pools, there is wicker furniture with glass topped table and padded comfortable seats (to seat 6 people). Clothes airer is also on terrace.
A Pool Bar and restaurant are situated on complex with entertainment nightly, closing at 1 pm. Food and drinks are available all day (Turkish and English) and meals can be ordered and delivered to your apartment.
There is a mini-market opposite the complex, which is open 24 hours per day for all basic foods, drinks. Also a new restaurant/bar is now open next door to the minimarket, serving delicious and very reasonably priced food.
Coast/Beach
There are three beaches all within walking distance of the complex. With the beautiful Turquoise Aegean Sea, the beaches are truly breathtaking. Daily boat trips around the islands leave from the Altinkum Main Beach.
Safe bathing, as the water is approximately waist deep on an adult as far as 50 yards out.
Golf
Proposed new golf course 15 minutes walk away.
Travel
Nearest airport is Bodrum Airport. At the present time, it is approximately 75 mins drive away, but new roads are at present being constructed, which should reduce the transfer time from airport to approx. half an hour. Izmir International Airport is approximately a 90 minute drive away.
Cars can be hired from airport if required, but minibuses can be arranged from airport and booked online before departure.
Local minibuses (Dolmus) are a very cheap form of public transport.
Distances
Nearest village is Didim, where there are numerous local markets, shops etc. and Altinkum Main Centre are all within walking distance. One of the wonders of the world, the Apollon Temple, is just 10 minutes drive away. The biggest Marina in Turkey was completed last year and is now open. This is approx. 15 minutes walk from the complex. There is a new Aqua Park just 10 minutes drive away.
Further details
If help is needed re: flight bookings over the internet, please do not hesitate to ask me. Lastminute.com seem to be one of the most reasonable when booking last minute flights, but as the name implies, the cheapest flights are usually a week before travel! Latest news is that Easyjet are now flying more planes from various airports in the UK at low prices, also Monarch and Pegasus have added more flights to Altinkum as it is now realised that this resort is getting more and more popular with tourists each year. (It has officially taken over from popular Spanish resorts). As well as being a beautiful resort, the Turkish Lira is better value for money than the Euro, which makes for a cheaper holiday for you and your family. There are numerous local mini buses (called Dolmus) in the area, which run to all local amenities, other towns and beaches in the area, and can be hailed. Price is approximately 60p per trip. Dolphin Square (the main town centre) is approx. 8 mins. walk and here you will find many shops, banks, bars etc. The supermarket in the main street will take you back to apartment free of charge if you do your main shop there. There are also numerous restaurants that are happy to pick you up from the apartment and back home again free of charge if you eat in their restaurant! The Marina has been built at one end of Third Beach, and as the name suggests, Royal Marina apartments are situated close to this beach. Now that the Marina is up and running, and the new Customs Building open, there are numerous boat trips to nearby Greek Islands (Rhodes, Kos etc) at a reasonable cost. The Marina will also be hosting World Yachting Championships this year.

House Swap/Exchange considered. Any country (preferably a one warm) and any time. Canary Islands or Caribeean would be high on my wish list! Must have at least one bedroom (not studio apartment) and be near to beaches.

Hi,
I have a house in Paignton, Devon with lovely sea views. When the weather is good, I am very lucky to be able to go to the beach which is nearby.
My main reason for buying an apartment abroad was to guarantee some warm weather, which I love!
I have also just this year gone into partnership with a daily tripping boat - the Siesta - which operates out of the harbour at Altinkum. I am renting another apartment near the boat until end September, so will be available should you need me for anything.
My son is presently travelling around the world and my daughter and 4 grandchildren live in Torquay.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I sold an apartment in Spain, which I rented out for 20 years, before buying my beautiful new, luxurious apartment in Altinkum.
Because of my vast experience of renting abroad, I was able to use this knowledge with my new apartment. It is therefore decorated and furnished to a very high standard - and people who have stayed there have all stated that it is like 'home from home'.
As well as the usual fixtures and fittings, there is also washing machine; DVD player, CD player, Satellite TV, microwave, ironing board, iron etc.
I try to get out there at least 3 times a year, so have made it how I would like to find a holiday home!
For this reason it also has very high quality furniture, including 6 wicker chairs with comfy cushions, and large oval glass topped table on the terrace.
Unique benefits of the property
My apartment is on the third floor, overlooking one of the two beautiful swimming pools. There is also lift access. Also on site there is a new massage parlour, as well as bar/restaurant offering good food, drinks and entertainment every night during the season. Their Turkish night is not to be missed!
Apartment is within easy reach of all beaches and the town centre. (All walking distance - only 10 mins at most). It is also in the only '5 star' area of Altinkum, with access to new Marina, and Third Beach, which is recognised as the best beach in the area.
A new golf course is also being built close by.
Now that the new Marina is open, there are boats to the Greek Islands, including Kos and Rhodes, leaving from Third Beach.
My apartment has one of the best locations in the area.
