Accommodation

Notes on accommodation
The air conditioning is very effective in keeping the entire apartment cool in summer. There is a large fan for those who prefer it. Heaters are provided in winter. Mosquito netting cover all windows. The large balcony is a delight in the evenings, with super views over the mountains, and the refreshing, cool pool just in front of you. Barbeque at your leisure here, or on the back patio.Guests have the added advantage of the hotel facilities - TV, books and magazines in the hotel lounge; drinks served at the pool. Breakfast, poolside lunches and dinner on the rooftop terrace, if desired; Baris and his staff are there to provide information or assistance whenever you might need it! The apartment and pool area are serviced daily, to a meticulous standard and the staff are always on hand to assist you whatever your needs. Reception service. Tours, gulet cruises, transfers can all be booked at reception. The environment is ideal for children of all ages. Wheelchair access is possible.

Outside
Enjoy the really large pool, belonging to just 5 apartments, from the comfort of your own balcony. The apartment has 4 loungers with padded cushions and a large parasol, for the exclusive use of our guests. There is also a large outdoor table and chairs should you wish to eat outside. Use the balcony or paved area behind the apartment for your outdoor BBQ. The gardens have lovely, shady trees and are well maintained. The hotel pool ( separate from our apartment pool,) has an attractive outdoor bar where drinks and light lunches are served, or you can order drinks to be brought to you. Breakfast may also be ordered at the pool, should you wish to make use of this facility. Baris organises a not-to-be-missed Turkish Barbeque evening which is a highlight of a stay at Nur.

Coast/Beach
Kalkan has a good pebble beach adjacent to the harbour and many diving platforms to reach the sea. Turkeys longest sandy beach, Patara beach, (Where the loggerhead turtles breed), is 25 minutes by dolmus. The much photographed sandy beach of Kaputas is 5 minutes ride by dolmus. Olu Deniz, one of the best beaches in the world, is an hour away. Explore - you are sure to find your own secret cove. A day cruise on a gulet will allow you to swim off the boat and have a therapeutic mud bath.

Golf
The nearest golf course is outside Dalaman, at Sarigerme. This 18 hole golf course is a 1 & 1/2 hour drive from Kalkan.
For non golfers, there is an excellent beach at the resort.

Special interest holidays
Kalkan offers so much for the active guest. All water sports, including diving, canoeing and sea kayaking. Jeep safaris, paragliding, horse riding or hiking on well marked tracks, even hunting in winter! Visit the numerous historic sites, Kekova Island, Patara, Xanthos or Saklikent. Or just chill, shop to drop, go the gourmet route! See website for more details.

The apartment has 3 more apartments, all the same size, available should you wish to travel with a group of friends or family. Please enquire if you would like to rent more than one apartment. We will be glad to do your booking for 1 or more apartments for you, or put you in touch with the owners. It is ideal for a larger party, as you will then have the exclusive use of all the facilities offered, including our super large, sparkling pool.

Travel
Dalaman the closest airport, is 1 hr 30 min drive to Kalkan. It is open year round and there are numerous direct flights from all major airports. Easyjet has sarted a service, showing the growing popularity of this beautiful part of the Turkish coast. One can also fly into Antalya, a 2 hr drive along a spectacular coastal route. See our website (weblink below) for information on airlines. Transfers are available, in good vehicles and along a good road. Cost UKL 90 return for 1-3 passengers.

Distances
Supermarket, weekly farmers market: 1 min walk. Chemist, doctor, hairdressers 2 min walk. Bus stop, taxi rank, fresh produce market, PTT, bank, old town: 5 min walk. Restaurants, bars, shops are all over the old town 5 min walk. Kalkan beach, swimming platforms and harbour for boat trips 10 min walk. Pictureque Kaputas beach: 5 min by minibus. The 17km long Patara beach and archeological site 25 min by minibus. Fethiye, Olu Deniz and Saklikent 1 hour by road.

Further details
Kalkan is well known for its many superb restaurants and romantic, moonlit terrace bars overlooking the bay. Take a BBQ or dinner cruise on a gulet. There are numerous interesting places within easy reach, on a tour, or on your own - Kekova Island with its sunken tombs, Saklikent Gorge. There are a host of choices for water sports and soft adventure, sightseeing and shopping.
