The cavehouse has an elevated position in the village of Uchisar (1300m) within the region of Cappadocia, central Turkey. The house has spectacular views both day and night across the Cappadocia valley and its historic troglodyte terrain. Uchisar overlooks the larger village of Goreme, sited on the 'Silk Road' trail, adding to the tourist facilities required.

Notes on accommodation
There are 2 additional cave rooms off of the main courtyard which can accommodate an additional 4 persons for sleeping but equipment (sleeping bags, matress) would be required (or need to be requested). The house can be heated by portable heaters on-site; only required March/April & Oct/Nov in evenings. Children and pets are welcome but would require supervision on the terrace and in the general area because of the nature of the landscape. We recommend visits between the months of March and October inclusive as the weather conditions from November to February are usually too cold for holiday comfort. There is WiFi access at some cafes & restaurants in the locality.

Outside
The outside terrace with magnificent views has outdoor furniture together with stone-built BBQ. A ground-level walled courtyard offers additional open-air living.
Travel
Fly from London Stanstead via Istanbul to Kayseri with Pegasus Airlines (new & cheap), Luton to Istanbul with EasyJet or, from Man or LHR via Ist to Kayseri with Turkish Airlines/British Airways. BMI fly Heathrow to Ankara. Kayseri Airport is approx 55km (45 min drive). There is a regular mini-bus service from the airport to Goreme (Uchisar on prior request) or private collection arranged on request (extra charge). Ankara Airport is 3hrs by car or coach. Car hire available at the airport.

Uchisar square: authentic cafes/restaurants, hotels, shops & Monday market, Uchisar Castle; hosts carpet/pottery shops & bazaar. Goreme Village: as with Uchisar and additional pensions, many restaurants & bars, hotels, hire shops, internet cafes and night-life.
Leisure Interest: Uchisar Castle with views over dormant volcano Eros, Goreme open-air museum, underground cities with 'fairy chimneys', ancient cave dwellings and churches, old caravanserais and various valleys of different flora and fauna.
Leisure activities: Hiking, horse-riding, biking, camping-out, mountaineering/abseiling, swimming, 4x4 or boat tours and hot-air ballooning.
Kapadokya Lodge Hotel (1km from village) offers swimming, spa, tennis, childrens play area for small fee to non-residents.
