Yet within minutes you can be exploring the narrow winding streets of Kalkan or enjoying a meal at one of the many (150 + last count) rooftop restaurants down by the harbour or simply taking a drink in one of the many bars and watching the world go by. A holiday at Villa Akdeniz gives you the flexibility to do exactly what you want, when you want, but in the luxury surroundings of this brand new villa, coupled with the confidence that should anything go wrong the UK owners will be on hand locally to help resolve any problems quickly to ensure your holiday is stress free.

Changeover day
Changeover day is usually Monday. Check in time is 4pm checkout time is 10am we can be flexible on this but remember we do need time for cleaners to do their work. Bags may be left at the villa until transfer time.

Notes on accommodation
Air conditioning to lounge and two main bedrooms. Fan for bedroom three. All opening windows have mosquito nets. Mobile phone provided for local calls. Villa Akdeniz is a no smoking villa we would kindly ask smokers to light up outside the villa.
Outside
A 30 sq meter swimming pool for sole use of villa guests is surrounded by a large sun terrace. Six comfortable sun loungers complete with mattresses are available along with parasols and drinks tables. Towels for use around the pool (only) are also provided. A large dining table seating six is positioned on the shaded veranda and a barbeque is also provided. Small garden areas with plants, palms and lemon trees are dotted around the villa. Offroad parking is also available.
Coast/Beach
Kalkan is well positioned for those who enjoy something other than relaxing poolside. The town itself has a small pebble beach, however sandy beaches nearby are accessible by water taxi or dolmus (local bus). A ten minute journey takes you to Kaputas beach - a stunning beach dramatically positioned at the foot of a ravine, or visit breathtaking 18Km Patara beach 25 minutes from Kalkan. Alternatively, boat trips leave daily from the harbour visiting the outlying islands.
Special interest holidays
A trip to the trout farms and restaurants in the hills behind Kalkan is a must and for those who enjoy shopping, browse around the friendly local market (Thursday's), shop in the nearly town of Kas, or go further afield to the large town of Fethiye.
The more adventurous can visit the ghost town of Kayakoy, walk the Saklikent gorge and Lycian way or para-glide over the famous beach of Olu Deniz. (Paragliding has just been introduced to Kalkan so you can now glide over you villa and see beautiful Kalkan from the air).
A trip to nearby Kas is well worth a visit. From here you can book a boat trip to visit the sunken city at Kekova, or fancy a trip to the nearby Greek island of Meis.
If scuba diving is your thing then diving can be booked locally in Kalkan or at nearby Kas which is considered Turkey's dive capital. Watersports including jet ski's, ringo's and banana rides can also be booked down by the harbour or you can also take a boat ride out to the various beach clubs.
Travel
Flight times from the UK are around 4 hours.

Airport transfers to the villa take approx 90 minutes. Transfers can be arranged as required. The cost is £60 each way per party. Payment for transfers is made
on payment of final balance.
Driving in Turkey is extremely easy. But please adhere to speed limits. Traffic on main roads tends to be fairly light (compared to the UK) however around major towns it tends to be busier.

Distances
Kalkan is situated on the torquoise coast of southern Turkey and between the towns of Kas around 20 minutes by car and Fethiye (45 minutes). There are plenty of areas of historical and geographical interest within a short driving distance. Patara, Xanthos, Thios and Myra, the river gorge at Saklikent and the beautiful beach at Olu Deniz are all less than 1 hour away.

A non refunable deposit of £150 per week is required on booking.
Final balance required eight weeks before departure.
Note UK residents are required to pay £10 per person for a visitors visa on arrival in Turkey. Other nationals should check their own visa requirements before travelling.

About the owner
Our first visit to Kalkan was in 2003 we loved the place so much we decided to purchase a villa (Villa Helena). It was our intention to use this for holidays and maybe to rent out for some additional income. We loved our villa so much we decided not to rent out but made a life changing decision to to move to Kalkan full time. We are still too young to retire so we decided to purchase a second villa (Villa Akdeniz) for rental purposes. We maintain the villa ourselves it is our aim to present the villa to the highest possible standards so our guest have a trouble free holiday and enjoy their time at the villa.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Kalkan is still a hidden jewel and has not yet been spoilt by mass tourism. The people here are so friendly and service, whether in a shop or restaurant is always done with a smile. The scenery is tremendous and as a sailor is ideal for day sailing or going further field.
Every possible amenity is available so there is plenty to do without being in an overcrowded resort
Unique benefits of the property
The villa is situated above the bay with views out across the sea and to the rear there are views of the Taurus Mountains, yet it is only a 15 minute walk down into the town.
During the early and late season May - June and September - October we are offering our guests a complimentary half day sail on our Ketch (max 4 persons) so you too can enjoy the view from the sea. Ask for details when booking.
