Changeover day
The best day for changeover is a Monday, as most places of interest in the city are closed, therefore making it a good day on which to travel. But this is only a recommendation, not a requirement.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment block has a lift and all rooms are centrally heated in Winter. In Summer, as the apartment is situated on one of the highest hills in the city and has lofty ceilings, an electric fan is all that is needed to keep cool.

Accessibility
The block is approached by a short flight of steps and so is unsuitable for wheelchair access.

There is a large terrace with a table and chairs and two loungers.
Coast/Beach
Beaches are to be found on the romantic Princes Islands which are without cars and where transport is by horse-drawn carriage. The nearest island, Kinali, can be reached by boat in 30 minutes. Each island has its own unique character and there are numerous restaurants serving delicious fresh fish.
Travel
Istanbul's Ataturk Airport is 30 minutes by taxi or there is an airport bus to the centre (Taksim Square), from which a taxi to the apartment will take 5 minutes. The apartment is also easily accessible from Sabiha Gokcen airport by bus to Taksim Square.
Distances
The apartment is centrally situated for all the major sights of the city, located as it is between the old quarter(Sultanahmet - Topkapi, Aya Sofya etc) and the Bosphorus region (Dolmabache Palace and Yildiz Sarayi).

There are numerous banks near the apartment (HSBC among them) with ATM and change facilities, a post office, supermarkets, delicatessens and speciality food stores. The area boasts all the international luxury retailers, such as Gucci, Armani, Hugo Boss etc, as well as Turkish stores such as Beyman and Vakko. Two of Istanbul's newest luxury hotels, Sofa and the Park Hyatt, as well as numerous wonderful restaurants, are all within walking distance. It is 10 minutes from the apartment to the Bosphorus with its Ottoman palaces and waterside restaurants; 10 minutes to Beyoglu where you can find art nouveau architecture and traditional Turkish restaurants (meyhanes) serving spectacular dishes, alongside trendy bars and clubs. The historical peninsula with Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofya, the Blue Mosque and the Bazaars is only 15 minutes away. You will find returning to Tesvikiye a welcome retreat after the hustle and bustle of the more touristic parts of the city, and realise that there is more to Istanbul than mosques and minarets, however wonderful they may be.
Booking notes
Bookings may be made at any time by email or by phone and payments should be made by cheque or through internet banking. A deposit of 50% of the total charge must accompany the initial booking; the remaining balance to be paid no later than 6 weeks prior to the date of departure. Booking are taken for periods of a week, though longer stays are possible.
