Stunning private villa for rent in the beautiful Mediterranean harbour village of Kalkan, southwest Turkey. This very spacious bougainvillea draped property is not your typical holiday villa but an airy house in a quiet location. This is a truly unique house in Kalkan combining extremely generous sized rooms and a traditional feel lacking in most other 'holiday lets'. The villa is situated in a peaceful location that is nevertheless within easy walking distance of the Old Town. Huge rooftop terrace (possibly the largest privately owned so near centre of Kalkan), perfect for sunbathing in the day and enjoying aperitifs in the evening watching the sunset over Kalkan Bay. Mini kitchen, BBQ and dining facilities on roof terrace. Wonderful views over the bay from bedrooms on the first floor and roof terrace. Private balconies to both front and rear of the bedrooms on first floor, and to the sea view of the ground floor bedroom. Further shaded dining area and BBQ at garden level.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Monday. Access to villa 4 pm onwards on arrival day. Villa to be vacated by 12 noon on departure day. Luggage storage can be arranged when necessary and also for the comfort of our guests

Notes on accommodation
Individual air-conditioning units in all bedrooms and lounge. Free wi-fi. Families welcome, although not so suitable for young children because of full depth pool and height of roof terrace. Not really suitable for those with walking difficulties.
Accessibility
We regret the villa is unlikely to be suitable for those with real mobility problems because of the number of stairs involved.
Outside
Private pool full depth throughout. Sunbeds and parasols provided. 2 stone built BBQs, 1 at garden level, one on huge roof terrace. Roof terrace also has kitchenette with fridge and dishwasher and is supplied with crockery, cutlery and glasses to save carrying everything up there. Lots of space for sunbathing around the house but also lovely shaded areas. Dining tables and chairs at garden level and on roof terrace. Comfortable seating areas on roof terrace and in garden for your relaxation. Lovely bougainvillea abounds.
Coast/Beach
Kalkan beach 15 minutes walk. Kaputas beach 10 minutes drive. Patara beach 20 minutes drive. Beach clubs in area easily accessible.
Travel
Dalaman 2 hours drive. Private transfers can be arranged. Car hire can also be arranged.

Further details
Kalkan is a Mediterranean harbour village with buildings covered in bougainvillea, winding cobbled streets, roof terraces, restaurants and bars. A picturesque harbour with a small pebble beach and stunning sandy beaches not too far away. As a village, Kalkan is far more sophisticated than the average holiday resort and is situated on the 'Turkish Riviera'. It is packed with arguably the best selection of quality restaurants outside Istanbul and those who have discovered this Mediterranean jewel return again and again.
By daytime Kalkan is very quiet and peaceful. Stroll around the village, look around the small interesting shops and enjoy a glass of apple tea with the local shopkeepers. A dolmus (a local bus) from the village centre takes 10 mins to reach Kaputas Beach, a lovely sandy beach perched at the foot of a ravine – but be warned about the many steps down! Patara Beach is slightly further afield but is regularly featured in lists of the top 10 most beautiful and undiscovered beaches in the world and its 18km of sand make it easy to see why. Patara contains many ancient ruins as well as being the birthplace of St Nicholas. The whole beach is a protected area.
Kalkan is set in an area of Turkey steeped in history, right in the heart of the old Lycian region. There are many ancient sites in the immediate vicinity including Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos and Patara. Slightly further afield are the marvellous sights at Kekova, Demra, Myra, Phaselis, Olympos, Aspendos, and even Ephesus is within reach (although this requires an overnight stay). Also a simple trip up to the mountains behind Kalkan will surely take your breath away. If you are feeling energetic it is possible to snorkel, scuba dive, windsurf, paraglide, or go mountain walking.
