Tuzla Lake and its extensive wetlands lie at the end of a deep inlet from the Gulf of Gulluk and Mandalya Bay. The site is unique as it is where the lake unites with the sea. 25 mins 30 minute journey to the cosmopolitan town of Bodrum which is often referred to as the Turkish Riviera. From Bodrum you can get a bus or hop on and off Dolmus villages and towns around the peninsula. Daily boat trips, stopping off at secluded coves for a spot of sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. Alternatively, in the area's maritime tradition, charter a yacht from one of the many locally-based agencies. The Greek island of Kos is within easy reach of Bodrum by boat.

On the southern coast, Bardakçi, Gümbet, Bitez, Ortakent, Bagla and Akyalar, have fine, sandy beaches. Campers and windsurfers enjoy Akyarlar, and at Bitez colorful sail boards weave skillfully among the masts of yachts in the bay. Ortakent has one of the longest stretches of sandy beach. One of the most beautiful beaches on the Bodrum peninsula, Karaincir, Akyarlar enjoys a well-deserved reputation for the fine, powdery sand of its beach.
Turgutreis, Gümüslük and Yalikavak, (A natural shoreline, beautiful sunsets), all with excellent beaches, lie on the western side of the peninsula and are ideal for swimming, sunbathing and water sports. In the ancient port of Myndos, Gümüslük, you can easily make many friends with the hospitable and out-going local population. In Yalikavak white-washed houses with cascading bougainvillaea line narrow streets. Small cafes and the occasional windmill create a picturesque setting.
Torba, a modern village with holiday villas and a nice marina is located 8 km north of Bodrum. Gölköy and Türkbüku (Small piers are trans-formed into romantic restaurants at night) are small and simple fishing villages with a handful of taverns overlooking a lovely bay. Torba (5 km), You may hire a boat and crew to explore the quiet coves, citrus groves and wooded islands. Shopping lovers are spoilt for choice with Bodrum's many weekly markets. The night life of Bodrum is something very special. Even Turks will rank Bodrum after Istanbul as number 2.
