‘Icarus Heights’ is a detached villa, with sea and mountain views, that overlooks the fabulous Bay of Göcek. Just 25 mins from Dalaman airport through the new tunnel, but shielded by the mountains from the sight and sound of aircraft. Göcek is peaceful, friendly and unspoilt from tourism; and because it is a yachting harbour, it has all the facilities you could need, including craft, gift, jewellery, and provision shops, banks, and a Sunday market. You will also be spoilt for choice with a stylish range of harbour and village, bars, cafes and restaurants. Fethiye is a 30 mins drive, a modern town in historic Lycia. The detached villa has its own pool and garden, it is attractively furnished, and all rooms are air conditioned. It is suitable for 7-9 people, with two double, one twin, and one single bedroom, a spacious lounge (plus sofabed for 2), fully equipped kitchen, and shaded dining terrace. The villa is non-smoking. We also provide basic grocery requirements to start your holiday.

Notes on prices
Prices are for 4-7 people, 8th and 9th persons £35 per/person per/week. Prices for 1-3 people will be reduced by 20%. Prices for the property are per week in UK Pounds. Extra days will be pro-rota. Short stays to be agreed.
Our price includes, utilities, linen, towels, key arrangements with our Turkish representatives, meeting and greeting, arrival preparation, midweek clean/linen change, emergency contact, starter provisions and information pack.
Transfers and car hire can be arranged.
Changeover day
The owners will endeavor to be as flexible as possible regarding the rental arrival and exit times. To ensure that guests have as much scope as possible regarding their chosen flight times. Therefore arrival and exit times will be agreed with each party.

Notes on accommodation
Rental terms and conditions will be supplied at the time of booking. The operation of the community facilities, such as Wi-Fi connection, tennis courts, play area, and additional swimming pools are outside the control of the owners, but guests will have full use of these facilities when in operation. Guest are advised to use caution regarding the use of: pools and areas surrounding pools, estate roads, car-parking areas, stairs, and balconies. Also, the floors in and around the villa consist of ceramic and marble tiles, which may be slippery when wet. Children should be supervised as appropriate. Gates are present at the top of internal stairs and terrace steps. A new (2011) off site cafeteria, at the Total petrol station opposite the site entrance is now available for simple breakfasts and meals.
Accessibility
The villa is wheelchair friendly to disabled clients, & push-chairs. Set on a terraced site the villa has been built to be wheelchair accessible, and it is approached through the lodge via the short 50m estate drive, which is quite steep, and assistance may be required here. However, once at the villa’s drop off point the paths are all ramped (1 in 12) & 1000mm wide, with access to all levels & rooms, with 900mm doors throughout; and a bathroom fitted for disabled access. Outside
The villa is provided with 4 sun loungers, tables, sun umbrella, and portable barbecue with tools. Please note that there is no shallow end to the villa’s pool. We request that the plastic crockery, glasses and jugs provided are used around the pool, to prevent broken glass becoming a hazard to our guests. Beach/pool towels, flippers, snorkels and tennis rackets are provided.
Coast/Beach
There is a small private beach at Port Göcek, this being a further 5-minute walk, south of the harbour, and for a daily fee, available to day visitors, including sun loungers and towels. The nearest public beach is a 10-minute drive; taxis or dolmus (Turkish minibus) ride away. Within 30 minutes drive there are at least 4 further and excellent beaches, with café/bar, changing and toilet facilities: Inlice Beach (5km), Günlüklü Bay (12km), Katranci Bay (15km) & Sarigerme (Turtle) Beach (25km).
Travel
Göcek is just 25 minutes from Dalaman airport through the new tunnel. Taxis are readily available or transfers can be arranged. Fethiye is a 30 minute drive, a modern town in historic Lycia, which can also be reached by local bus, dolmus or ferry. A car is recommend to explore further afield the cultural and historical sites of Lycia. Details of car hire can be provided. From the lodge gate, the stroll into Göcek is level, and takes about 20 mins walking, or 5 mins by car, taxi or dolmus.
Distances
Telmessos: (Ancient Fethiye): A prominent city and centre of an Oracle; & Amyntas's Tomb: 4th Century Lycian rock tombs. Caunos: (Dalyan) a Lycian city on the river, with beautiful rock tombs, & the famous Turtle beach. (30km). Oludeniz:(Dead Sea) The most photographed beach on the coast, with a lagoon surrounded by pine trees and mountains (40km). Kayakoy: Crafts centre, & a former Greek town (of ghosts!), (35km). Saklikent: A natural canyon with walkway, waterfalls, & leaping trout (70km).
Further details
Göcek is a pretty and upmarket yachting harbour village, located on the southwest Turquoise Coast of Turkey, in a small valley amongst the spectacular Taurus Mountains. It is a beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt resort between Fethiye and Dalyan. Göcek is very popular with yachting visitors because of the large marina and myriad of small islands around the almost circular bay with its natural harbour. There is an array of stylish quayside restaurants and laid-back bars. You will find a fantastic choice of fresh fish, meat and vegetables and a very hospitable atmosphere. You will be spoilt for choice of where to dine as you walk along the main streets, and landscaped waterfront promenade in the evening. There are also many interesting fashion, craft, and jewellery shops, and other stalls. Many of the boats, yachts and gulets (traditional Turkish boat), in the harbour provide trips to secluded local and island beaches, day trips for swimming, site seeing, barbecues, and longer boat trips for the adventurous. The 12-island tour of the bay of Fethiye is a highlight, and a trip not to be missed. All levels, and types of boats are available for hire or charter. It is a paradise for sailors and water sports enthusiasts, or alternatively for those who just like to stroll, explore and watch the world go by. Göcek is a paradise for sea lovers who can enjoy a wide choice of water-sports locally, including sailing, waterskiing, windsurfing and scuba diving. White water rafting is also available close by. Nature lovers can enjoy walking, hiking, mountain biking, jeep safaris and horse riding. Soak up the scenery of turquoise sea set against a backdrop of majestic mountains and fragrant pine and incense forests. Booking notes
A booking is confirmed once the Owners are in receipt of the completed booking form, and a 25% non-refundable deposit. The balance, plus a £100 refundable security deposit, must be received by the owners 8 weeks before departure. A booking form and rental terms and conditions will be provided at the time of booking. Our representative can arrange car hire, trips and transfers, please ask when making your booking.

About the owner
Hello, to you all, our villa Icarus Heights, is owned by sisters Elaine and Gill, and their partners Andy and Ronnie. Andy and Elaine fell in love with the Turquoise coast 25 years ago and have the distinction of being the first British couple to marry in Kalkan, which was no mean feat in 1993! Gill and family came to the wedding, and found the southwest coast of Turkey very beautiful too. Our villa's name inspired by local legends of the Göcek region, which was named Daidala after Daedalus, who fled here with his son Icarus from Crete, after Theseus escaped King Minos and the Minotaur. A simple ball of thread, defeated the Daedalean labyrinth, but ours we hope, is not so difficult to negotiate. As you will see the Icarus's take off point is just behind the villa, high up on the mountain.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought our villa in 2006 after falling in love with the view of the bay, and the panorama of mountain and forest. We find it an ideal place to be, just 25 minutes from Dalaman airport through the tunnel, but shielded by the mountains from the sight and sound of aircraft. The villa is a 20-minute leisurely and level stroll into the heart of the harbour village of Göcek, which we find has most of the day to day essentials that you need on offer, plus a dollop of shops designed for retail therapy should you so choose. Whilst being within easy reach of a fabulous coast of hidden beaches, islands, forests, lakes, mountains, and rivers, enabling you to explore the culture and history of the area. Göcek as you sit on our terrace is a unique place to be, with all it’s natural beauty around you.
Unique benefits of the property
We have made a conscious effort to furnish our villa as a family home rather than just a rental villa. We hope that we have added those missing comforts that we too, would expect when on holiday. For us, one of the definite pluses is that Göcek is only 20 km from the airport, the flight time from the UK being less than four hours. So within half an hour of arrival you will find yourself in beautiful surroundings, and you could be enjoying breathtaking views, glorious weather, and a swim in the pool, all in this tranquil corner of the Turquoise Coast of Turkey. Over the years we have made many friends in Göcek, including our friendly representative Mehmet, and his helpful family, who will ensure your comfort and welcome.
