Steeped in history, unspoiled, authentic, Gocek is surrounded by the Taurus Mountains, and blessed by the beauty of Gocek's Bay and its many islands. The village offers a different pace of living, a different outlook on life and a chance to enjoy everything old and new Turkey has to offer guests. Gocek is known for its wonderful sailing and the beauty of its harbour setting. Clear blue water, the dramatic mountains providing wonderful views, good service from everyone you will meet. Gocek is a holiday resort like few others, elegant, chic but never stuffy, and with all the amenities you could need - its no wonder so many yachts make a point of stopping over in Gocek.

Changeover day
Fri/Sat/Mon changeover preferred, we will accommodate other days if we can. Arrival before 22:00 if possible, but later arrivals can usually be accommodated. Normally villa must be vacated by 10am on departure day unless by special arrangement with owner.

Notes on accommodation
The three air-conditioned bedroom offer flexible sleep arrangements. The additional sofa bed (very comfortable) in the salon means families and groups of up to 6 guests can be accommodated in air-conditioned comfort.
The owners lived in Villa Oleandra from 2005 to 2008 consequently the villa is set up as a family home with everything you could need for a wonderful holiday.
The garden is well maintained with a good size lawn. Blessed by oleander trees and blue Jasmin hedging the garden is spectacular through out the year. Potted geraniums and fragrant melissa bushes add colour to the terrace; climbing bougainvilleas, honeysuckle and morning glory provide stunning colour in spring and high summer, in the rear and side areas there are grape vines and citrus trees.
Views from the large veranda are towards the pine forest & Taurus mountain range surrounding Gocek village. The beautiful garden is complimented by the villa's private swimming pool.
Accessibility
Villa Oleandra is located a short walk from the village centre. Access to the villa from the road side is down a short flight of 12 stone steps. The three bedrooms are located on the 1st floor.
In our opinion the villa is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The swimming pool is available May - October each year. Villa Oleandra has dining terrace next next to the pool. There are seating areas in the garden and at the poolside. The pool is 4. 5x7. 5 metres, 1. 6m throughout with entry ladder. Pool man / gardener visits 6 days per week. Shower at poolside for guest use. Seating areas provide a focus for afternoon or evening relaxing, garden lighting enable guests to sit outside in the cool of the evening. Guests please note during July and august the temperature between 11 am and 6 pm can reach above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Please make sure to take precautions against sunburn and heatstroke. Please note, the villa is self catering. We cannot provide hotel style management service. The villa is best suited to guests who prefer privacy and independent living during their holiday.

The newly built Hilton Golf / Spa Complex at Sarigerme opened in July 2009.
An 18 hole golf course is set to open winter 2011.
Travel
Villa Oleandra is 25 minutes transfer from Dalaman International Airport. There is a very good dolmus (minibus) service to Fethiye and Olu Deniz (change at Fethyie for Olu Deniz). Dolmus service to Dalyan. Guests staying for two or more weeks may like to hire a car for 3/4 days as there is lots to see within an hour's drive. Owners can help arrange car hire during your stay.
Further details
Gocek is set in the middle of a large nature conservation area and development in the village is strictly controlled by the local town council and the Turkish Government.
Venture inland and visit some of the amazing archaeological sites in this area and enjoy the breathtaking coastal and mountain scenery. Car hire available at reasonable rates and owners can help arrange this.
Sailing, water skiing, horse riding, scuba diving, are all within 20 minutes drive, hill walking and paragliding (at Olu Deniz) are just an hours drive.
There are more than 50 cafes and restaurants in Gocek, offering traditional Turkish cooking and modern 'fusion style' dishes. Fresh fish, organic locally grown meat and vegetables are wonderful and the Gocek farmers market (Sunday) is the best place to buy local produce. There are several supermarkets in the village and many ATMs and banks.
Gocek is well known for its world class sailing and offers visitors the chance enjoy an area of the Mediterranean that has retained much of its rural nature. There are many fantastic coves that can be reached only by sea.

About the owner
We are UK citizens lucky enough to spend a few months each year in Gocek during spring and autumn. We first sailed into this lovely area in 1999 and loved the village so much when retirement approached we decided to make our second home in Gocek. We are very privileged to live for a few months each year in this area of exceptional natural beauty. Gocek is a safe and welcoming place for visitors. It truly is like paradise here on the Turquoise Coast and we are very grateful to the Turkish people and their government for allowing us to be a part of their community. Why the owner chose a home in this location
Gocek is just simply the nicest place on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. Located a short 25 minute car journey from Dalaman International Airport and there is everything yo u could need in the village for shopping and dining out. Gocek does not attract the mass tourist market and is perhaps not the best place for a younger crowd who want nightclubs and music bars open until dawn - there are none of these "attractions" in Gocek. Visitors will find a charming upmarket habour town where the activity is based on sailing, relaxation and dining.
Unique benefits of the property
The villa is located in a quiet area behind the Sunday market. It has beautiful views to the forested hillside to the front and to the right the beautiful pink and gold mountain range surrounding Gocek. The villa is close to the main harbour areas and all the cafes and bistros are a short 5 minute stroll. The villa is located in a part of old Gocek village, not across the main highway on the hillsides. there are no busy roads to cross.
