Steeped in history, Gocek is set in an area of supreme natural beauty blessed by Turkey's famous Tauraus Mountains, this area offers a different pace of living and a different outlook on life. The setting is unrivalled, clear blue water, quiet coves, spectacular sunsets and bistros and cafes where you will be served with charm and pride. Gocek is a holiday resort like few others; elegant and chic - but never stuffy. Since 1995 Gocek has developed from a sleepy harbour village to a world class yachting centre whilst retaining its village atmosphere and soul. In recent years it's become a summer pass-time to 'spot the celebrity'', often sitting at the next table!

Changeover day
Friday/Saturday/Monday changeover preferred, will accommodate other days if we can. Check in after 15:00, we will do our best to be on hand for late arrivals. Villa must be vacated by 10am on departure day unless by special arrangement with owner.

Notes on accommodation
This villa is not a development "standard white box", it offers charm and character, indoors and out.
The garden is surrounded by beautiful mature pine trees. Gerainiums, roses, jasmin, bougainvillea, oleander, palm and citrus trees delight the eye. The villa has a very large pool (8 x 20 metres) with easy access steps at the shallow end. Guests have use of a private bar with 2 fridges. Traditional Turkish style shaded seating areas on the pool terraces. Six parasols at the poolside offer additional protection from the sun; there are eight sunbeds. Villa Melissa's dining terrace overlooks the pool, so you can keep an eye on children. Villa Melissa is ideal for families, couples and groups of friends. Comfortably set out, Villa Melissa offers wonderful setting for your holidays. Bedrooms have air-con/heat units, fans cool downstairs in summer with a log fire for cooler nights. (When resident in adjoining Villa Papatya in Spring and Autumn, owners may use the pool late afternoon.)
Accessibility
Villa is suitable for elderly/disabled persons able to manage short flight of internal stairs, hand rail on stairs. Entrance at street level, level pathways, single level garden and 'easy entry pool' suitable for 'walking elderly or disabled' guests.
Villa Melissa is set over 3 areas, living room, dining kitchen, WC/cloakroom at garden level, stairs to 2nd level 2 en-suite bedrooms, stairs to 3rd level master suite with en-suite bathroom and private sun terrace.
Outside
Villa Melissa has a private dining terrace over looking the swimming pool and garden. There are additional seating areas and tables in the garden and at the poolside. The pool is very large, 8 x 20 metres easy access steps with hand rail at 1.4m shallow end, exit ladder at 1.8m deep end. The swimming pool is cleaned everyday. There is a shower at the poolside for guest use. The bar and seating areas provide a focus for afternoon or evening relaxing, two fridges, sink, etc. Bar and garden lighting enable guests to sit outside in the cool of the evening.
Guests please note:- Daytime temperatures in Gocek during July and August often reach over 100F.
Coast/Beach
Guests are only a 10 minute walk from Gocek's harbour side marinas and cafes. Its possible to walk the village 'end to end' in 30 minutes. The nearest beach is located at the "upmarket" D-Marin Marina (reasonable daily charge). Inlice, just outside the village has a lovely quiet beach, its only 4km by car or taxi, alternatively guests can take a water taxi from the harbour to Gocek Island beach. All three beach options have stunning views and cafes offering snacks and refreshments.
Golf
The Hilton Golf and Spa resort at Sarigeme is expected to open in Spring 2012. However we have been waiting for 2 years for the golf course to open so information is provided with our best hopes but is not 100% reliable.
Travel
Villas are 30 minutes transfer from Dalaman International Airport. Villa Melissa is only 10 minutes walk from the village centre and NO BUSY ROADS TO CROSS.(15 minutes in July-August heat).
There is a very good dolmus (minibus) service to Fethiye and Olu Deniz (change at Fethyie for Olu Deniz). Dolmus service to Dalyan. Guests staying for longer than a week may like to hire a car for 3/4 days as there is lots to see within an hour's drive. Owners can help arrange car hire during your stay.

Turkish Bath - free hourly ferry boat from Scopio Marina. Inlice Beach 4kms by car or taxi. Gocek Island beach - take water taxi at harbour. Port Gocek Marina 10 minutes walk. Nearest market 5 minutes walk. Village Square 10-15 minutes walk. Supermarket 10-15 minutes walk. Sunday market area 10-15 minutes walk.
Further details
Venture inland and visit some of the amazing archaeological sites in this area and enjoy the breathtaking coastal and mountain scenery. Car hire available at reasonable rates and owners can help arrange this.
Sailing, water skiing, horse riding, scuba diving, are all within
20 minutes drive, hill walking and paragliding (at Olu Denis) are just an hours drive. There are more than 50 cafes and restaurants in Gocek, offering traditional Turkish cooking and modern 'fusion style' dishes. Fresh fish, organic locally grown meat and vegetables are wonderful and the Gocek farmers market (Sunday) is the best place to buy local produce. There are several supermarkets in the village and many ATMs and banks.
Gocek is well known for its world class sailing and offers visitors the chance enjoy an area of the Mediterranean that has not been spoilt by mass tourism and high rise buildings. This is a very special place of great natural beauty within easy access of Dalaman International Airport.

35% deposit within 7 days of reserving a booking, balance due 8 weeks before arrival date. Guests are met with keys on arrival, emergency tel.no. provided for local manager. Min. stay 7 nights and 14 night bookings preferred for July and August. Pool and garden areas can be closed for child safety; guests are respectfully reminded they are responsible for their own and their children's safety at all times. The pool was an added bonus and the children loved every moment of it. The novelty of the wood burning fire was of great delight during the cool evenings. About the owner
We are UK citizens lucky enough to spend a few months each year in Gocek during spring and autumn. We first sailed into this lovely area in 1999 and loved the village so much when retirement approached we decided to make our second home in Gocek. We are very privileged to live for a few months each year in this area of exceptional natural beauty. Gocek is a safe and welcoming place for visitors. It truly is like paradise here on the Turquoise Coast and we are very grateful to the Turkish people and their government for allowing us to be a part of their community. Why the owner chose a home in this location
Gocek is just simply the loveliest place on the Turquoise Coast of Turkey. Located a short 25 minute car journey from Dalaman International Airport but not on the flight paths so the location of the villa remains peaceful and quiet with the added bonus that there is everything you could need in the village for supplies, general shopping and dining out. Gocek does not attract the mass tourist market and is perhaps not the best place for a younger crowd who want nightclubs and music bars open until dawn - there are none of these "attractions" in Gocek. Visitors will find a charming harbour town where the activity is based on relaxation, sailing and good food.
Unique benefits of the property
The villa is located in a long established and elegant residential area of old Gocek village called Yesil Vadi (Green Valley in English) only a 10 minute stroll from all the facilities of Port Gocek D-Marina and its cafes and private beach. The villa and its mature garden are surrounded by pine trees with views of forested hillside and mountain range to the front. There are no busy roads to cross.
Perfect for people who seek serenity and calmness whilst enjoying a beautiful "home from home", Villa Melissa is exceptionally well appointed with everything necessary for a wonderful holiday.
