St Johns House is a totally individual property with 4 very spacious bedrooms and separate relaxing rooms which can be used for extra sleeping. It has a beautiful private garden, (apart from the tortoises which have made the garden home), with dip swimming pool and sauna. Situated in the centre of one of the most culturally rich areas in Turkey, directly below the basilica of St John and above the Isabey mosque in Selcuk, St John House is an unmatched property, restored perfectly using wood, brick and stone the house fits perfectly into the surrounding area. With many wonderful verandas Stone House is perfect for anyone looking for a totally unique relaxing holiday.

Rich cotton towels and bed linen are provided with plenty of extras if needed. The property is cleaned thoroughly before arrival of guests and if required at an extra cost. |
Notes on accommodation
St Johns House is a totally private villa, there are no houses overlooking into the garden and the surrounding area is quiet.
For the use of the Turkish bath we ask for a small charge towards the electricity and water used. St Johns house is centrally heated throughout.

Accessibility
I am afraid that St Johns House is not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Outside
St Johns house garden is directly accessible from the sitting/dining room and has a barbecue, wood burning oven and open fire place. On a lower level there is a small swimming pool and the sauna, the utility room can also be accessed from here. The garden has a wonderful view of the Isabey Mosque and Artemis Temple also the surrounding areas. With beautiful mature trees and plants it really is a wonderful place to relax on the sun loungers.
Coast/Beach
Pamucak, a beautiful virtually unspoilt 14km sandy beach can be reached by car, it is 8km from Selcuk. There are many local mini buses running there and back from the local bus station, or if you feel like walking it will take 45 minutes along a very flat road half of which has been made into a special walk way road.
There are several other beaches that can be reached by mini bus along the coast and also some very beautiful bays.
Special interest holidays
Many opportunities for anyone particularly interested in archaeology, painting and magnificent hiking. Anyone interested in culture of any sorts will love Selcuk.
Travel
Izmir, Adnan Menderes international and domestic airport is approx 50 mins by car. Transfers can be arranged please ask about charges, Ferries to Samos, Greek island, leave daily from Kusadasi. A good day trip to be able to enjoy the different cultures of 2 close neighbours. Car hire is very useful for at least some of time if planning to visit some of other locations around Selcuk. This can be arranged locally at very reasonable rates, enquire when booking.
Distances
Selcuk centre is only 3 mins walk into town past the St Johns Bascilica and along the old Roman Aqueduct. The pretty Greek village Sirince is 8km from Selcuk, mini buses run regularly Most of the attractions in Selcuk can be reached on foot or by local buses.
Further details
Selcuk has all the necessary shopping facilities, banks, restaurants etc and there are some very good restaurants in town and some of the surrounding villages. Every Saturday there is a beautiful local market selling fresh produce and anything that you could need during your stay.
Guests will be met by Alison, the property manager, who is fluent in both English and Turkish, she will be available throughout your stay to help with any queries, provide information and if needed to make travel/trip arrangements. The main attractions are the historical sites locally at Ephesus, St John's basilica, Virgin Mary's House, Seven sleepers and Selcuk museum all only a few minutes drive away. It is also an excellent base to visit some of the other major attractions in this part of Turkey including Aphrodisias, Miletus, Metropolis, Priene and Didyma. All within 1-2 hours drive. Further afield, to Pamukkale and Heirapolis are well worth visiting, or boat trips from Fetiye or Marmaris can be arranged.

My family and I have never stayed in such a magical place, the house was more than we could have ever expected, so spacious, beautifully furnished and the Turkish Bath was outstanding. ''How ever will we find any other holiday property to match it....I don't think we will''.
