Kalkan Retreat (sleeps 8) is a brand new, contemporary, luxury, air-conditioned villa with 4 bedrooms each with their own private balcony and en-suite facilities. The interior is spacious and cool and has been designed to meet your every need. Outside it has its own private infinity swimming pool with extensive terraced garden areas and two barbeques (one traditional stone built and one gas). There are sun loungers for all guests and charming shaded outdoor eating and seating areas. The villa commands stunning uninterrupted sea and mountain views in the desirable and peaceful location of Kalamar Bay. It is only 5 minutes walk to the local beach club where you can sunbathe, swim in the clear waters of the Mediterranean, dine or enjoy the full range of water sports that are available. The premier resort of Kalkan with its array of shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife is approximately a 15 minute stroll or 3 minute taxi ride. It is a perfect retreat to recharge your batteries.

Notes on accommodation
All rooms are air-conditioned. The ground floor has folding back doors allowing air to circulate freely through the heat of the day. Access to the villa is by a set of stairs at the front. A welcome pack and information booklet with emergency numbers and contact details of our managing agent in Kalkan are provided. We can organise car hire and transfers if required. We ask visitors not to smoke indoors. The marble flooring inside and out becomes slippery when wet, please take special care, particuarly families with very small children and the elderly. There are mosquito machines in all bedrooms.

Accessibility
The villa is not really suited to people with mobility problems.
Outside
There is a large outside terrace offering panoramic views of Kalamar Bay. The villa has its own private infinity swimming pool with underwater lighting and external shower. There are 8 sun loungers with a sun umbrella. The walled gardens are beautifully stocked with bouganvillia and oleanders. The whole area is immediately adjacent to the living area and you can enjoy your own choice of music while relaxing in the pool.
The shaded dining area is the perfect place to have an al fresco supper on those long, balmy, Turkish evenings. Beforehand enjoy your pre-dinner drinks in one of the two comfortable seating areas. There is a brick built barbeque as well as a gas barbeque so there's no excuse for the men not to share the cooking.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach club is 5 minutes walk down the hill. They provide a free pick up and delivery service. The beach club has direct access to the sea and offers sunbathing, swimming, water sports and restaurant facilities. There are numerous other beach clubs in the area.
Kaputas Beach is just 15 minutes drive away and Patara is approximately 20 minutes. Patara's 12 miles of golden sand is home to protected turtles and has been described as one of the ten best beaches in the world.
Golf
Unfortunately the nearest golf courses are in Antalya which is about a 3 hour drive from Kalkan. However there is talk of building a golf course in Patara which is only half an hour's drive away.
Travel
The nearest airport is Dalaman (1.5 hours transfer) but flights are also available to Antalya (3 hours transfer). There are direct flights to Dalaman from many UK airports, including EasyJet flights from Gatwick. Personally our preference has been to fly with XL. Transfers can be arranged through the owners.
Car hire is not included and is not essential although it is possible to arrange car hire through the owners if desired. Taxis are readily available.
Distances
Kalamar Bay is wonderful for people looking for peace and tranquility and provides the ideal base to explore some of Turkey's finest heritage sites in the Lycian region. Kalkan is just 15 minutes walk away or a 3 minute taxi ride. Places to visit within easy reach by car are the Lycian Way, Saklikent Gorge, Kekova sunken city, Tlos, Xanthos, Letoon and the magnificent beach of Patara. It is possible to experience a Hamam or other relaxing spa treatments within a short walk of the villa.
Further details
At the southwest corner of the Turkish coast (Turquoise Coast) lies one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of the Mediterranean. Kalkan was once occupied by the Greek Ottomans and their legacy has left an old town full of character. It has steep cobbled streets that wind down towards the harbour and the locals are exceptionally friendly.
During the day Kalkan is almost disarmingly laid-back, as visitors choose to enjoy the crystal clear waters lapping the Lycian coast. The public beach next to Kalkan's harbour was recently extended and is more than adequate for swimming and sunbathing. However you choose to spend your days, no-one can resist being back in Kalkan in the evening, for the variety and quality of eating places on offer is quite astonishing for such a compact town. There are little restaurants that are so low key that many visitors never notice them; just the place to enjoy delicious and genuine local cooking. Magical surroundings, a dash of relaxed sophistication and a seeminly limitless variety of places to explore make Kalkan irresistible. The restaurants in Kalkan offer an exceptionally high standard of food and service (some of the best prepared and freshest food we've tasted on our worldwide travels), many restaurants have romantic roof terraces looking out over Kalkan. Eating out is excellent value and the Turkish wines are surprisingly good. The pretty cobbled streets of the old town are an Aladdin's cave with an abundance of shops selling clothes, jewellery, handbags, gifts, etc. There is also a weekly market on a Thursday. There are a number of bars that stay open through the small hours and play music but no loud nightclubs.
Booking notes
A 40% deposit is required at the time of booking. No contract will exist until we have confirmed in writing. Cancellation charges will apply. We reserve the right to refuse a booking without giving any reason. The balance is due 6 weeks before arrival when we will also ask for £200 damages deposit which assuming there are no damages beyond the normal wear and tear will be refunded within 2 weeks of your return. All damages/breakages need to be paid for in full.
