Further afield from your cottage in Tournus a day out in Lyon would make a love change. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in history and culture. This was the home of Louis and Auguste Lumiere of cinema fame, as well as the location of some wonderful restaurants, shops and nightlife, all just 40 minutes to an hour from a Tournus self-catering villa. A little further away, but still very manageable for a day out, is Geneva, in Switzerland just an hour an a half from a holiday gite in Tournus. Eat by the lake and enjoy the very different culture of this beautiful city. For the best views visit The Cathedral of St Pierre which is at the highest point of Geneva Old Town.
